Renathan had decided to come back after having bred his last pair (a pair of silky orbaru this past time) and breed another pair of orbaru that had never been bred before. The first one was a rather pretty pale spotted one, from good stock in Renathan's opinion. She had been a v3 at one point, but Renathan had used a potion on her to turn her into (what he thought was obviously) a much cuter v2. She was blonde and brunette calico on porcelain white; with bright yellow-green eyes. The male was one that looked quite odd; pale white head and brownish body, with ivory and ebony stripes. It had pale purple eyes and a pearl-colored orb, very strange and pretty if Renathan did say so himself. He wasn't sure what he wanted from this pair; but he figured they would make nice offspring together. Renathan carried each one in a carrier beneath his arm to the breeding center. He hoped that it would go better this time than it had last time; last time the place had been so busy he hadn't been able to get in for a long time. It had been absolutely miserable! Today would be better, he was sure.

The last time that Renathan had brought a pair, he hadn't even had a chance to get to see them play; it was a really sad thing honestly. Hopefully, he thought as he put his pawed hands on the doorknob to open the door of the breeding center, today he would actually get to see the orbaru play instead of simply waiting in the waiting room forever. Renathan had not enjoyed that at all, so it had taken him a bit of time to finally figure out what he wanted to breed next out of his veritable hoard of orbaru. He honestly didn't feel like coming back for a long time, but now he had a really simple pair that he thought might make a pretty spotted offspring, maybe? Renathan did enjoy the calico orbaru a lot, though he loved his red-pandas the most honestly. The two he had today had never before been bred; and he wasn't sure what to expect from them. Howie was a nervous male with quite a few issues, though he was quite graceful. Koi, on the other hand, was a beautiful mottled coloration and otherwise quite normal. Perhaps the offspring would be just fine? Renathan hoped so!

Breeding orbaru was, in a lot of ways, a lot more work than breeding pachee. For one, they tended to play a lot longer before breeding if you really wanted the absolute best offspring possible. With pachee, offspring tended to be a lot easier to get for the most part. However, with orbaru, the parents had to be the happiest possible to produce offspring of the highest caliber, and that was very well know among breeders. However, sometimes it was worth it to even get the less quality offspring; it really depended on what one wanted out of the breeding specifically. For this one, Renathan wasn't really even all that sure. It'd just hit him on a whim that this pairing could make cute little offspring babies, and increasing his stock for his orbaru borrowing boutique would probably be a good idea. His breedings coming out good could even get others to start breeding them soon. Renathan hoped that today the breeding center wasn't quite as stuffed as it was the day previously. That had been quite exhausting in all honesty. He didn't think that Koi or Howie would be able to deal with the stress the way the other two orbaru had.

For some reason when Renathan thought about this particular pairing, he thought about marshmallows. He wondered what their offspring would look like, probably something quite understated and simple, but nice, he figured. The male was a custom, and the female was descended from a long lineage in all honest, so he hoped that the offspring would look worthy of that particularly long linage. The female had a gorgeous pair of lime-green eyes, but Renathan was more hoping to see the male's beautiful pale lavender ones. They were particularly nice, he figured, and he thought that at least one offspring orbaru with that would be good. Renathan had brought another baby berry this go around for today's breeding, so there would be more than one baby. Probably two, he thought, since that seemed to be pretty par for the course with a baby berry. That was the issue with being a particularly good orbaru breeder that had done this many times; he just didn't have a lot of surprise anymore it would seem. Renathan sighed as he opened the door to the breeding center with his eyes closed; knowing that whatever he saw next would completely control their fate today. Who knew how difficult this process would be after last time?

Renathan kept his eyes closed for a moment as the cold air blasted him in the face. That was right; it was pretty dang hot outside this time of year, all things considered. Renathan tended not to wear a ton of clothes so he didn't always notice it right away. He could certainly feel how chilly it was inside the building though. Renathan hurried to shut the door to make sure that the cool air didn't 'get out' as they often said around here. He finally opened his eyes and looked around. Okay, so there were some people standing in line and some sitting down and waiting; but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was this last time. Renathan breathed out a sigh of a breath that he hadn't even realized that he had been holding. This was good. In Renathan's experience with his own v2s, they tended to be a little 'softer' and more easily stressed (if one could even say that about orbaru in the same way that it was meant with other species since they were usually a bit too dumb to be considered truly stressed out in the same manners) than hisother orbaru. He'd been worried.

Well, now all that was left to do was get in line. Renathan was pleased to see that there really wasn't a whole ton of people in front of him this go around. He glanced over to the lobby and was very pleased to note that there was not a whole lot of folks waiting in the lobby either. It was a relief in all honesty to know that; this last time had been so bad he had been considering waiting a while to come back, after all. It would seem that Howie was still asleep in his crate, Renathan noticed the snoring and such, however, Koi just woke up. The calico female orbaru sniffed around inside of her crate, undoubtedly a bit interested in all of the other females and males that were here today. Renathan gently cooed at her as he waited in line. He didn't want her to be made nervous, but he also had to wait whether he wanted to or not, same with everyone else here. Koi didn't seem anxious yet, however. Her bright green and yellow eyes watched him with curiosity. Renathan was glad that he had fed her the potion; she was so much cuter this way!

Unlike last time, of course, Renathan was not quite as determined to get this pair bred right away. Sure they were cute, and it would be hard to go wrong with their babies since both were pale colored and had nice colored markings with soft colorations, but if the place had been as chock-full of individuals as it had been this last time, Renathan would have just left without actually breeding the pair. He could always wait until the breeding center was less full; sure orbaru were always popular, but people would eventually be a little less stoked about cram-packing in with the less exciting pairs of breeders. Renathan was always glad to see people breeding orbaru, but this sort of sardine-packing could not be good for the critters. The poor staff of the breeding center had to be exhausted as well; Renathan hoped for their sake that it would continue settling down around here. The person at the counter was someone that Renathan recognized from last time; the very exhausted individual. He felt a little bad, they looked tired again, but thankfully not nearly as badly. That was a good thing, after all. "Welp, here we are." He said, gently, at Koi's cage. She could smell Howie now, Renathan was sure.

Howie was a pretty, ferret-colored boy that Renathan had actually bought from a third party that had picked up a custom orbaru that honestly wasn't prepared for what they asked for. When most people thought 'orbaru' they thought of a herbivorous animal that ate berries and whatnot the most commonly. However, Howie had been made specifically to be a ferret-like creature, so he required a supplementary diet of cooked meat most of the time, and Renathan was sure that he was just not fed that supplementary diet. After working hard with an individual that was also a healer, Renathan was able to make sure that he got the correct diet uptake (it wasn't even all that much of meat- and it was all cooked.) and now he was ready to be part of Renathan's breeding program. The mammalian was ready to get them in a room, but it would be just a little bit longer, it would seem. The next person up in line went and grabbed a number before sitting down, and the line moved forward. Renathan followed the line easily, being at the end and all, holding both Howie and Koi in his arms in separate critter crates. Renathan smiled beneath the mask, trying not to think too hard about what the babies might look like eventually.

Orbaru offspring, like anything else, did not always come out the way one planned. Renathan had actually thought about that the last time he had bred orbaru. The babies had almost come out quite a bit like each parent; which wasn't something he had originally assumed was going to happen. Ah well, he could always breed that pair again. It also produced a female that looked quite a bit like Renathan's beloved red pandas. Sure, it was missing some of the markings, but it was okay enough really to go into the breeding program. The mammalian was hoping one day to have a Lazare-lookalike of every single breed of orbaru; it was something he was especially excited about. However, it was going to take a lot of time and work to get to that point. Renathan was ready to put in that time and effort, but not if the breeding center kept being this chocked full of people! Renathan shook his head, but was glad to see another person in front of him finish up, take a number, and then go sit down. The same time, someone came out of one of the back rooms, this time with a pair of pachee! Renathan gently cooed at Koi through the box.

Howie had a rather strange ear coloration, if Renathan did note so himself. He glanced down into his box quietly, so as not to wake him earlier (to keep him calm and as stress free as possible, of course) than he had to be up. The creature's ears were a creamy white; with a dark brown tuft. Usually orbaru had lighter tufts, so it was an interesting thing to notice altogether! Renathan wondered what sort of babies v2s tended to throw. In the past, he'd gotten a few silkies from them, so he wondered if he'd manage a silky this time. They were actually a bit difficult to throw, he'd noted, but they were his absolute favorites. Well, he really liked the other types too, and there was one that he'd seen a diagram of that he really loved but had never really gotten to breed one of, and he was hoping eventually to get one of those... They were winged, for some reason! Ah well, he knew that this breed shouldn't be throwing those kinds of winged orbaru. He'd figure it out, sooner or later! He finally got to the front counter, and couldn't be happier. He began filling out the forms on the two orbaru, while Koi booped at the individual at the counter.

There was an aspect to Howie's coat that Renathan was just really hoping for; and of course he was thinking about that instead of fully paying attention to the forms he was supposed to be signing for his pair. He caught a mistake just in time to fix it before it became difficult to deal with, but he managed to get the forms together for the individual that was needing them. Renathan wasn't a hundred percent sure if he always understood why all of these forms were needed on actual paper, but hey, it was doable, right? Renathan still knew how to write, luckily enough in common, so it was something that he could do. He wondered what they did for individuals that could not yet read and write in common; because that was super normal. Common was, well, common in the labs-city, but not always where everyone comes from when they migrate here from far and wide as was typically custom. "Is there anything else we need?" He asked in a super friendly way as he looked up and into the face of the attendant. He was told no, so he collected both Koi and Howie's boxes from the floor, and then took a number.

Now that the mammalian had a number, he knew that it was basically just a waiting game. Renathan moved away from the counter and went to sit down in the waiting room. He knew that all of the people currently here were ahead of him, but there were only eleven of them. Renathan was not at all worried about the entire thing; especially since he had just managed to see the who would have been the twelfth person just go back to the newly cleaned room he'd just seen vacated by the pachee breeder not long ago. That put Renathan at ease; he'd actually be able to see the two of them manage to actually play in the room for a while. That was good; that was what they were here for, after all, not for all of this waiting that sometimes happened if they weren't very lucky. "Alrighty you two, let's go sit down, but lets not get too comfy." He said, mostly to Koi since Howie was asleep. Renathan sat them down and then put the two crates down facing one another, so that the orbaru could actually play with one another whenever Howie woke up, to speed up the progress a tad.

It wouldn't be long before Howie would wake up, he was very sure. Renathan figured that soon, the smell of the females around him that were here for a reason certainly would rouse him, or maybe Koi would bother him until he was awake. Renathan knew that he would have to wake him up if he did not wake up soon, and that would be an issue. He didn't want to stress him out, and waking him up with so many females in the room might just do that... Renathan wasn't always the most sure when it came to creatures. Howie was an easily weakened fellow though, and the mammalian was not about to take any unnecessary chances. Koi on the other hand was excitable, booping in the vague direction of all of the other orbaru that were in the room, even if she couldn't see them. Female orbaru could be a real pain when it was time to either block them off from the males or take them to the breeding center though, and Koi was not disappointing when it came to that frustration. Renathan tapped his foot as they waited, and noticed that Koi was staring the sleeping Howie down now hard.

Renathan was watching her and trying not to chuckle. "Alrighty Koi, don't kill him with your glare. He'll wake up when he wakes up, girlie." Renathan said, gently putting his hand down to stick his finger through the grate to gently pet her little nose. Orbaru could be so cute, especially when they were pouting, like Koi was doing right now. She was very domesticated, of course Orbaru were created by the labs to be easy to take care of and breed, they were excellent pets for those just starting out and for children, but Renathan's pairs had been bred only if they were as docile as possible, and each successive generation was getting more and more docile, even for orbaru standards. "We won't be waiting very long, anyway, Koi." He said conversationally, before straightening back up and removing his finger from the grate of the critter crate that he had Koi in. The other people around him were mostly nondescript and doing about the same thing, so Renathan was very sure that they hadn't been here long, but were expecting the worst. Had it been that terrible the past few days here? Today did not seem so bad, not really.
