Fall was in swing by now, the air growing crisp and light. The trees hadn't quite caught up to the message, still green in foliage, but every so often Fiera caught a glimpse of curled edges or patches of brown. All of the clues said that the leaves would fall soon enough. She was in the gardens as of right now, accompanied by her copper lamadidron, Lincoln. They had been given a task to complete from the quest board- or more specifically, from an old woman standing next to the quest board. Fiera would have loved to have actually read what was on it, but it seemed like every time she tried, there was someone already there, practically waiting for her. The humanish supposed it didn't matter, ultimately- she got paid all the same, didn't she? Fiera 1/20 Lincoln 7.1/9.1 1

Fiera recalled the details of the quest. Deep in the gardens, this woman had her own little patch of land. Not uncommon, but for whatever reason (Fiera suspected it was just this panite outlasting everyone else) the gardens surrounding hers were abandoned. Still, this woman carefully grew bonsai trees of all shapes around crystals in the garden. Pretty elegant, from what Fiera was imagining, but she couldn't imagine leaving something so pretty and valuable unguarded. Frankly, the humanish was amazed that it was a nyssa that had raided the place first, and not some dumb kid looking to make a quick buck at The Underground. Sure enough however, she said that her garden had been raided by a nyssa of apparently titanic size, stealing one of her biggest and best crystal clusters. Despite how the creature sounded awe inspiring in size, Fiera had the feeling it was just a big, dumb animal like anything else.

That being said, Fiera didn't actually own any nyssa. She wasn't sure what their regular size was, let alone a gigantic one. Still, she knew that they didn't eat crystals, which meant that it should be pretty easy to get it back once she found it. She glanced down at Lincoln. Lamadidron ate nothing but rocks, and while copper was his favorite, she was sure that Lincoln would trend toward crystals in the absence of anything else. Between that and the nyssa's large size, Fiera figured that this wouldn't take very long at all. And besides, how hard could wrestling a giant rock away from a giant tree monster be? Easy peasy!
As she mused to herself, Fiera pushed through the gnarled branches of the abandoned gardens, with Lincoln following behind her grumpily. He had been taking such a nice nap before she dragged him all the way out here!

Fiera rolled her eyes as Lincoln honked grumpily behind her. He was always such a grouch when he woke up, but she was hoping his attitude would wear off soon. They had work to do- but hopefully not too much. Fiera wasn't sure what kind of 'award' an old pensioner could scrape up anyway. Besides, she certainly had done a lot of work already- it would take her hours to get all these twigs out of her fur! She huffed irritably as her tail got caught on yet another branch. This crystal garden had better be pretty nice to make up for the garbage surrounding it, that was for sure! Lincoln thumped his tail thoughtfully- at least his owner seemed to be in as grumpy a mood as he was. Finally however, Fiera caught a glimmer in the corner of her eye, and dragged Lincoln toward it. This had better be it!

She finally burst through the bushes, with Lincoln stumbling through behind her. She sighed with relief and appreciation- wouldn't you know it, this garden WAS as pretty as its owner described. Fiera thought that since the panite seemed blind as a bat, it wouldn't be that aesthetically pleasing... but no, it was gorgeous! While there were a few larger plants around, most of the trees in the area were tiny bonsai, perfectly trimmed and cut into fanciful shapes and arrangements. And of course, interspersed between them were stunning crystals, which Lincoln was sniffing about already. She gave him a quick tug on the leash to keep him from biting into any- she didn't need to be paying HER for this quest. Across the way, there was also... a gate. With a clear path out of the gardens. That she could have come through instead of battling bushes. Ah. Well... her route had been more exciting, anyway!
