Jack was looking over the quest board one day, Tok on her shoulder as usual these days, and came across one that... well, didn't seem to need to be there for the moment. She plucked it from the board and looked it over, a look of sadness coming across her face. She didn't know what to do at the moment, but she needed to figure out what was wrong with this kid's pup. Someone else was offering a reward of some kind, it seemed, but... Well, that wasn't the point now was it? It was nearing the holiday season and she liked to help kids out. Jack smiled a little and patted Tok on the head as she pocketed the note and checked her bag to see if she had her healing items, and double checked her nodes, just in case. She could always heal the pup that way if she needed to, she supposed, if that's really what was going on. Of course, it could just be sad. [Tok: 5 1/5]

Stretching out a bit, she wondered what she was going to do for the little pup. She had healing supplies and toys to play with, though she didn't know what would be required in the end. Frowning a little, she absently patted Tok on the head as she waited to see where she needed to go for a little bit. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad in the end of it all, but she couldn't tell that just from this. Oh well, she needed to get this done and then get everything figured out for awhile. Jack pushed her hair back, squared her shoulders up, and headed for the inner city where the roads were for the streets. She couldn't wait to get this done, though she didn't know what was going to happen just yet and all, but that was alright, at least she had some kind of idea as to what to do in any case.

All she had to do was look the pup over with Tok and hopefully the kid would be better after awhile. Worrying about an animal was never a fun thing, she had to admit to that much she figured with a little smile on her face. No matter what, they would figure it out, and she idly stroked Tok's feathers for a little while as she fingered the nodes in the pouch at her side. It was hard to predict what was going to happen for awhile at this point, but she hoped that things would work out in the end of it all. Maybe, if she was lucky, it wouldn't take all that long and then she could move on to something new or something. Jack shrugged a little, almost toppling Tok off her shoulder, to which he squeaked indignantly at her for a little bit until she fed him a piece of strawberry.

Well, she had to get there first and the address said it was at Avant, which was bad enough considering it was the furthest away, and honestly she was running out of time. She couldn't let this kid and their pup wither to the winds or anything, that would be the worst she thought as she chewed on her lip. Tok chittered at her a little and she listened carefully, she might get him a Ribbon at some point, either that or a ring, though that would be a bit of a waste at this point. Chuckling, she focused on feeding him bits of strawberry whenever he did something good for her, and also on putting one foot in front of the other at this point. She wondered what was going to happen at this point, and that didn't really matter in the end of it all, but hopefully it would be something good no matter what.

Whatever happened, whatever was the cause of this pup being down in the dumps, she had to stay positive, she figured, that was the first step whenever trying to cheer something up or heal it a bit at this point. Tok was going to help her out if it just needed something to play with, but she doubted that would be the case when there was a kid for it to play with after all, even if the kid went to school or something. Jack chewed on her lip some more as she tried to decide what was going to happen, she wished she had the ability to foreshadow what was going to happen, but that wasn't going to happen just yet. She wasn't talented enough at the moment, which was a real shame, but that would change after awhile. Moving Tok to her other shoulder, she glanced down at her bag and patted it a little, she didn't know what to expect.

Oh well, she would get it figured out and all that, and she would help out the kid and their pup. There was nothing else she could do about it as of yet, they still hadn't even reached the street, at least not yet. They were only a block away at this point, and if she was lucky and thought she knew where she was heading, they were one of the first houses on the street, which made it a lot easier at this point. Giving a low chuckle, she wondered what she was going to do with things at the moment, but other than caring for Tok and this pup, she didn't think it would be too hard. Shifting Tok down to her palm, she lectured him on manners for when they got there, to which he snarled a little at her and bristled his feathers a little bit. He knew what to do, he was a good guy!

Jack chuckled a little, she loved riling him up a bit, but now really wasn't the time to do it, she figured, which was a shame, she always had fun with it. Giving up though, she put him back on her shoulder and then walked up the path to the big house along the road, more of a mansion really than a house. Poor kid, she wondered what kind of life they had, if their parents actually cared for them or if they had a nanny or something. Oh well, she would find out sooner or later she thought with a little smile, not that she was nosy or anything. Shrugging a bit, she knocked on the giant door and waited for a little while, wondering what kind of Rakai pup this kid had. Maybe it was a Fel, that would be cool, you didn't see many of those around or anything.

The door silently swung open and someone stood on the other side of the threshold, wringing their hands together, "Are you here for the puppy? It's been so long..." Jack smiled and showed the lady in the maid's outfit the letter that had been posted to the quest board and nodded, "Yes, I'm here to help." The maid started to cry a little and showed her in, apparently people really cared about this kid and their pup, and she hoped that would extend to the parents, whoever they were. She hoped the parents were here or something, but she waited in the foyer as the maid went to fetch someone as she said she would. It was going to be great, she would get this done, she would feel a little better about herself, and then they would move on in life. Tok leaped down onto the floor from her shoulder and sniffed around a little in the foyer.

After all was said and done, this was a pretty impressive place to live. The columns and walls looked like they were marble, as were the tiles on the floor. Jack raised an eyebrow, she felt out of her league, even though she was pretty well off herself at this point, though she tended to fluctuate on her credits, she still had plenty of things to care for and no one ever went hungry. It was going to be great she figured as time went on and all that. Sighing a little, she watched as Tok scurried up the legs of a nearby table and dove into the fruit in a decorative bowl. She suppressed a chuckle as she watched him slowly realize they were plastic, and then he ran to the edge of the table and jumped for her shoulder to tell her all about it in his chattering voice.

What was she going to do if she couldn't heal this pup anyway? She didn't know what kind it was going to be, so she didn't know what it was most likely going to be suffering from or anything. She frowned a little as Tok chattered at her a little bit in her ear, telling her how indignant he was at the fruit not being real, and she reached into the pouch at her hip and touched the nodes in it one by one. She wanted more of them, there wasn't enough at the moment, and that was fine, she didn't think she would ever have enough of them, which could be a problem in the future, but she didn't know it at the moment. Giving a little sigh, she stroked Tok's feathers and waited a little while later, much longer and she might have to leave, she had things to do after all.

The maid came back with a haggard looking man who extended his hand to shake. Jack shook his hand with a firm grip and a smile, and he gave her some of the details. Apparently they were Rakai breeders who had come down on some hard times after a litter of pups had all become sick. His son had begged for one of them, however, and it wasn't doing so well, that's why they had secretly put his letter on the quest board, hoping for some good samaritan to come along and help them out. While they didn't have much in the way of free funds anymore, they would offer her something if she could help it out, and she hoped that things weren't as bad as they thought it was. Hopefully it wasn't a corruption in the blood of the parents or something, that would be the worst she figured, then she would have to come up with cures for all of them.

While the maid led her and Tok upstairs, she was sure things were going to go well for them, or at least that was the hope. Maybe things wouldn't go well for them, maybe this was going to turn out pretty rough, she didn't really know at this point, but that was alright. With Tok on her shoulder, she could do pretty much anything at the moment, and she wanted to make sure she could help this kid and his Rakai out no matter what. Pushing her hair back, she waited in a room at the top of the stairs as the maid and the father went to go get the kid and his pup. Jack sat down on the floor and put her bag in front of her, Tok jumping off her shoulder to explore the room a little bit. She pulled out bandages, poultices, and potions, hoping it wouldn't come to that, but she just didn't know.

Everything would work out well for them, she knew that much, and she really hoped that things would go perfectly, no bloodletting or anything, that would be the worst. Jack pushed a hand through her hair and then tied it back in case she needed to work quickly, and then she sat and breathed for a little while, meditating while Tok curled up next to her. When she was like this, he knew to stay next to her, it was part of what he was helping her with when it came to magic after all. He yawned a little and then watched her as she breathed deeply, losing herself in her breathing and closing her eyes so she could let herself go a little bit, tethering herself to her body as she slipped free for a bit and calmed down a little. It wouldn't do for her to be panicking at a time like this after all.

Tok watched as she breathed, wondering what it was like to meditate like that, to lose yourself in the moment and all that. He watched with fascination and then climbed into her lap and stared at the door, wondering when they were going to get there. It was rough waiting for things at the moment, but something good would happen no matter what. Jack slowly pulled herself back in when she heard the doorknob rattle and blinked a few times to get the sleep away from her. Tok stretched out stiffly on her lap and then crawled off to go lay down next to her, wondering when the real healing would begin. Would he be able to help her with that kind of thing, really? He didn't know, but he was willing to find out, and he sat a little straighter when he thought about it with a smile on his little face.

Jack watched as the door rattled a bit and then opened, and a kid and his pup were sent in, the pup on a cart. Jack smiled a little at the kid and then reached out for him when he hesitated, "Don't worry, I'm here to help you two out. Come on." He took a few more steps forward and then pulled the cart behind him as he stared at Tok in awe. Not a lot of people had halfbreeds it seemed, and she had plenty, so she knew he had to have heard of her for some reason or another. Maybe she was famous and didn't know it. Suppressing a chuckle, she looked at the pup and then frowned as she let a hand rest on Tok. She wasn't sure what was wrong, but they would figure it out no matter what. Jack touched the fur of the purebred Fel and then blanched.
