Pets as CharactersUpdate this list of skills to be more expansive! (And see whether or not any of the new skills work for it.) I originally made this list so that pets as characters would be able to do all of the things, like mining, gardening, training, buying stuff, and fighting, without being too hindered. I don't think I went far enough. Actually, now that I'm saying this, I think we could potentially ditch this list entirely and let pets get any skills they want, except player combat, as long as they can physically do that thing with their body shape. The previous suggestion is still there in case that's too much, though. Additionally, I think the pet/draconic limit for pets as characters should be lifted. I don't know why this is a thing? I was reluctant to mess with it, but I also hate it. As a human, I can have as many pets as I want, why can my Tat-lung who is supposed to be smarter than a human, only have 5? You do, after all, have to pay full price for a secondary character that is also a pet, so why so many restrictions? (A lot of the restrictions are archaic and do not fit the way the site works any more, imo.) Pet Rearing JobsBoth of the 'specialized' jobs for Husbandry inherently involve battling with 'battle commands' and training for fighting being a focus. I'd like a job that is for training pets but is also peaceful! Maybe something with Husbandry + Botany (herbal vet?), Husbandry + Fishing (aquatic pet specialist?, aquarist?), or even Husbandry + Survival (advanced tracker?, wilds expert?, monster tamer?). Also maybe something with Husbandry + a ton of the 'bond' skills which are from many different specialties. Also-also, you can add academics to some of these for a super high level tree, like an marine biologist or a biochemist!

I agree on the Pets as Character's list, I've made this suggestion before. I'll talk to another mod about it later today.

Certainly, the Jobs thing is certainly doable. I only add a few jobs at a time though because these require a lot of little balancing considerations however, so it'll take me some time to formulate some skillsets for these.

The peaceful husbandry job idea is beautiful! Don’t forget that veterinary knowledge is a husbandry skill now. ;) Maybe literally being a vet can be a job. Dang....that’d be a commonly needed and important job!
Maybe an advanced Veterinary job can have: -Biology -Veterinary -Gentle touch -Wild speak -the Healing Botany skills

I like Riku's idea of a veterinarian as a job, however we need to add a thing. MATH. At least 3-4 ranks of mathematics to do all your calculations of vet things... yes. x.20

Thanks guys! I'm happy to hear that a new job tree for Husbandry skills might be in the works, and I'm willing to wait for it.
New suggestion:
Item Master List
We need one big ol thread that is a huge list of items that can affect pets. (Not items with no use like pet supplies/food/stuffed animals, but items that have effects like ribbons of telepathy, injections, and potions, etc.) Just one big ol' list with links to where they're registered, where you can use them, and in plain english what they actually do to your pet/character.

That's a brilliant idea! Might I make the suggestion with that item list, that it could also say what a familiar can and cannot use? Since certain item's stop working with the familiar in question such as Ribbon's of Telepathy. But some do not. Like the Charm of Brilliance (Renathan's eyes only, last two posts of thread on page 14) conversation we had that it 'would continue to work after the critter is made a familiar. As long as it stays on them and such.'. :D Thank you for all your effort Renathan! Especially as your also busy with school. <3

Yes! I meant to say it before, but any restrictions the items have is a super important part of the list!

Of course! I agree with both of you (that's actually what is going to take the 'long time' part. :3)

Okay, so looking over this and having talked to another mod:
Yes on the Pets as Characters thing. :3 I'll be working on making sure this is written down tonight. Yes on the Pet rearing jobs, I'm going to see what I can do about this and several other job suggestions. The Item master list hasn't been 'started' yet but I have a thread down for it so I can start working on it; sorry for the wait on it so far.
To keep this area clean and so that I can keep up with what is accepted and not (and to let people know what has been suggested before which is the purpose of trying to keep the number of totally different suggestions on one thread to a minimum), I'mma do the ole accepted+lock here too. Feel free to make more suggestions in a new thread!
