The garden was always her favourite place to be, and somehow Sevyrn didn't think that would ever change. Bright and colorful flowers, the shade of full-grown trees, fresh veggies straight from the garden... Not only did the hard work bring her joy, but it came with a sense of pride in what she had accomplished. How much would she be able to get right this time? How would she be able to improve and help the garden flourish next time? Not to mention the happiness that came from getting the chance to hang out with her Nyssafaux, as much of a pain as Aura-Lune could be at times. Today she had just gotten back from a trip to the stores, and brought with her a variety of vegetable seeds that she was hoping to be able to make something out of. The real question was whether or not her halfbreed would let her - and if Aura would leave the seeds be after they had been planted. 1

She should have - and did - know better. There wasn't a chance in hell that Aura was going to be forgiving this time when she hadn't been any other time. Sevyrn had to love the crazy little crossbreed, though. All she wanted to do was investigate and be curious, and it was in her nature to want to delve in to what the earth had to offer. She'd barely had a chance to open the gate and the sneaky little thing had already made her way in ahead of the human.
All she could do was shake her head. "You know... if you just left things alone more often, they'd result in more treats for you. I know how much you love a good carrot, but if you dig up the seeds then they'll never grow, Al." Al - Sevyrn wasn't quite sure when she had first picked up that nickname, but it had stuck. Despite the fact that Aura-lune was female and and feminine in appearance, the typically male name had just stuck as a short form.
What she really needed was a better gate.

Peculiar to the halfbreed's typical adventures, Al was strangely content exploring the off-limits garden area, and ended up settling her little body atop a large planter. As she rested she eyed up the human, watching with a peaceful curiosity as Sevyrn smiled at her and then started to go about the business of the day.
Gardening was hard work, but it was rewarding. As much as she hated being out in the heat like this, she knew that once she put the effort in and gave these little seeds the time and care that they needed to grow, they were going to (hopefully) flourish. She'd always offered a tender, understanding care to her work and though a few simple veggies were easy tasks for her after years of experience, it was still very worth the effort.
After grabbing her shovel, the young woman prepared herself to start digging up holes by hand. Then once the untouched part of the garden was ready, it was time to seed.

Sevyrn ended up dedicating most of that afternoon to planting the new crops, a task that was only extended by Aura-Lune's bouts of playfulness and curiosity. As frustrating as those could be when she was looking to get something done, Sev was always pleased to have bonding time with the curious little critter. The line had ended up drawn part way through, though - Al got a little too interested in what was going on and had started to dig at the recently planted seeds, and had to be taken - kicking and screaming - out of the fenced off portion of the yard.
What the girl really needed was some proper training - if she could behave as would be expected of her, there would never be a problem keeping the nyssafaux around while Sevyrn tried to get to work. She might even be able to teach Aura to help dig for her, and given the halfbreeds fondness of digging, she would probably actually really enjoy that! It was a problem for another day, though, and Sevyrn preferred to approach her training head on and prepared.

After a long afternoon of hard work, Sevyrn was ready for a break. She had prepped and planted the new plot of the garden, watered the old crops and flowers, cleaned up some of the leafy mess on the ground... and now it was time to grab a nice fresh peach off of the tree that provided shade in the back of the fenced in area. There was little in the world that was better than a fresh, juicy peach - and she made sure to pick a second just so that she could hand it off to Aura, as the halfbreed undoubtably knew exactly what she was doing and followed her with an air of excitement all the way back to the tree.
"You know that you can climb up there and get your own, right? I've seen you do it a thousand times." Aura-lune had picked off way too many peaches, as far as Sevyrn was concerned. How did the little thing have the right to beg for one more just because someone else had wanted one? With an amused shake of her head, Sevyrn bent at the knees to lower herself to the ground, and Al had her little paws on the fruit as quickly as she could. It was playful, holding it and staring as Sevyrn with deep purple eyes that just screamed you're giving this to me, right?
"Alright, take it." She released the peach from her own grasp, and the white-bodied nyssafaux immediately went to town on the fruit. Thinking that Aura had the right idea, Sevyrn took the first big bite from her own.
Undoubtably, this was a great idea.

Other than those delicious peaches, there isn't much to be discovered here...

Over time, Sevyrn had what she thought was a great idea. Obviously Aura-Lune was thrilled to be out and about in the gardens, digging up what Sevyrn was trying so desperately to keep alive... so why not give the crossbreed an outlet for her urges? It would take some basic training first, but with time she might be able to get Aura-Lune to dig on command. After that point, the Nyssafaux would be able to investigate everything that went on AND be able to work those little claws of hers in a healthy manner. Along the way they could also get that much-needed and long overdue 'not out of the way.
Just a couple days after she last planted her seeds, she planned on doing some one-on-ine obedience work with the nyssafaux. Over the last couple years there would be a basic groundwork set for a lot of what she wanted to teach Al, but there was still plenty of work to be done. It would be worth it if Aura-Lune came out the other side a bit more obedient and with a new avenue of mental stimulation.
"Aura-Lune," she called as she walked out her back door and in to the yard. The nyssafaux yawned from her spot atop the picnic table, where she had been curled up in a nap and cocked her head to the side. What a peaceful little sweetie... "Hey, Aura-Lune - you know what your name is, yeah? Am I talking about you?"

The nyssafaux seemed to respond pleasantly, though perhaps that was due to the love and attention that she was being showered with in that moment - the only thing that would make it better would be a little snack! Where were the snacks, anyways? Sevyrn almost always had something to hand over to her whenever she came outside. Al hadn't gotten anything from Sevyrn earlier when she had been out back, so that curious little girl wondered if perhaps now would end up being snack time.
The fact that Sevyrn had many training treats on hand was a coincidence, of course, but the nyssafaux didn't know any better. All she knew was that just looking at her girl was getting her rewarded right now! For a few minutes Sevyrn simply sat at the picnic table, her legs out and her back against the table part, talking to Aura-Lune. Training came in repetition, and so she made a point to corrolate saying the nyssafaux's name with those treats that she was ever so excited for.

The only time that patience was Sevyrn's strong suit was when her animals were involved. People? They could be plain out stupid, some more often than not. The pets that she had grown bonded to, however? They needed a watchful eye and patient training - as frustrating as they could be when they didn't know better, it was just that. They didn't know better. That was a large part of why it was so important for Sevyrn to help them.
The pair spent most of the day lazing around Sevyrn's back yard and today the girl's attention was split between getting some much needed work done with the plants (she'd gone and picked up some flowers ready for transplant that morning - as expected Aura-Lune had tried to chew the leaves off of some as soon as Sev's back was turned) and coming back to hang out with Aura-Lune. The little lady was rather intelligent, and getting a better understanding that 'Aura-Lune' and even just 'Aura' meant that Sevyrn was in fact trying to get her attention. After a while Sevyrn had felt safe returning her bag of treats inside, and encouraging the nyssafaux with praise.
It seemed that all that was left was to perfect it, and then the rest of what she wanted to teach could come another day.

With the evening beginning to settle in, Sevyrn was feeling rather proud of Aura-Lune's progress in solidifying her own name. She made a game out of it to add some fun earlier on - waited for the nyssafaux to be minding her own only to call for her. If she looked up she saw the treat that got tossed towards her, if she didn't then it popped her on top of the head. The little snack had done little more than mildly startle her, and she'd only ignored the human a couple times, so it had just been a fun way of getting Aura to associate her name with Sevyrn wanting attention.
Now things were a little less fun, but still going well. Treats had been eliminated a couple hours back now, and Sevyrn had slowly been reeling back on the praise ever since. Al was doing amazing at responding when she was called, and Sevyrn considered it just about a job well done now.
"You've done such a good job, Aura-lune," Sevyrn said to the nyssafaux as they sat in the place where this had all began - at the picnic table. Though Al had gotten comfy, she was watching Sevyrn with a peaceful gaze. "I'm proud of you, little lady."

What was the best reward for a plant creature after a job well done? Fresh produce straight from the garden, of course! With that tidbit out of the way, there was work to be done again. Last Sev had checked the carrots that she had planted a while back were supposed to be ready soon, and she imagined that even if they were a couple days premature, Al wouldn't complain about getting one. For some reason the crazy little thing went absolutely nuts for carrots... Sevyrn didn't quite understand it. Sure they were good, but one would think that they were the gods' gift to man (and beast) from how Aura-Lune reacted to them.
And boy did she go nuts when Sevyrn grabbed the first one, grasping at the slats of the wooden fence that blocked her off as the girl began to tend to what awaited her. After yanking the first carrot out of the ground Sevyrn gave it a good look - and it was definitely good to go. The first belonged to Al for a good day's work, but the rest were hers and hers alone. There was also some weeding to be done, and a few of her cucumbers seemed perfect for picking.

"Come here, Aura," Sevyrn called from across the garden after walking out one hazy, overcast afternoon. Like usual she wasn't expecting an immediate response as Aura-Lune hadn't been properly trained just yet. Sevyrn had just the thing for that, though - she'd come home with some of the nyssafaux's favourite snacks to munch on today. Like the other day when Sevyrn had worked on training her to properly reply to her name, it would make for a relaxed afternoon. She had plans to get some weeding done, tend to some flowers (and maybe pick some to bring back inside) and hopefully some more of those cucumbers and some of the tomatoes would be ready too. At some point she was also looking to expand her garden, but that would require moving fences and that... was not a skill that Sevyrn had. Perhaps she would be able to talk someone in to giving her a hand.

The nyssafaux didn't seem too interested, though she did glance towards Sevyrn's lingering figure for just a brief moment, cocked her head, and then tried to return to her snooze. That was the point in which Sevyrn pulled out the little snack that she'd been keeping in her pocket. "Aura!" She called once again to pull the little lady's attention towards her. "Come here," she directed, and when Al still seemed to content to stay where she was, Sevyrn flashed the treat towards the hybrid - that caught her attention almost immediately. Beautiful. Once Aura-Lune had reached the human's form, Sevyrn knelt down on to one knee and offered the nyssafaux the snack, repeating the command as Al took it from her hand. With a beaming smile on her face, Sevyrn gave the girl's head a few pats and praised her.
Attempt one - completed. Now for the many, many repeats that it was going to take to cement what Sevyrn was looking for with that word in to Al's mind.
