Fanged had taken the scenic route into the city as she had completed her morning chores. She felt strange being unaccompanied by a companion. Now she found herself in a part of the city that she didn’t have much familiarity with. The area was decorated lavishly, perhaps for some sort of event that Fanged had no knowledge about. She used her observation skills to try and figure out what was happening without asking someone.
“Come and meet the Winter Beast?” she muttered the words aloud, trailing off in a question despite the banner not being written as such.
The banner had certainly done its job. She was certainly intrigued and figured she might as well find out what exactly this Winter Beast was. There was a crowd of people around her, presumably for that very purpose as well. She watched them for a moment, trying to gauge their reactions to inform her ahead of time what she was in for.

Fanged found herself following the slightly fearful crowd to the inside of a building. The building appeared as though it had been converted from a shop into what seemed to be a carnival like setting. She hadn’t had much experience with carnivals beforehand, but she had somewhat of an idea of what they were meant to be like.
“Odd, I wonder what the purpose of this place is. Is this Winter Beast meant to draw a crowd and bring in the big bucks? Or is it some sort of being meant to be worshipped?”
The thought unnerved her a bit, but she was more curious than anything else. It would be a bit more waiting, but the line to see this so-called Winter Beast was moving quite quickly. For a moment, she considered talking to the other people in line while she waited. However, everyone appeared preoccupied with their own conversations.

As Fanged drew closer to the front of the line, she gradually noticed a shift in temperature in the building. It was slowly getting colder the further into the building that she walked. For a moment, she’d wished she brought a jacket with her. But it was still summer and a jacket would have looked rather odd and the temperature could still fluctuate within the interior of the building. Before long she found herself in range of the area that enclosed this Winter Beast. She was nearly close enough to actually see the creature. The group in front of her let out a horrified gasp before backing away. The woman blinked in confusion. Was she about to face something monstrous, or were these people simply faint of heart? She felt anticipation fill her chest and she inched herself closer to the front of the line. She entered through an archway and emerged next to an enclosure.

The enclosure was filled with snow and temperature controlled to keep it from melting. For some reason, gut instinct told her that there was something wrong with this picture. Inside the enclosure was a stunning creature that Fanged had never seen before. There was a stark expression of melancholy etched onto the beast’s face. “I don’t think I like this. I guess that’s the downside to these sorts of affairs,” she remarked out loud. Taking a closer look at the beast, she observed that the creature had wings formed of what appeared to be a physical manifestation of an element. If Fanged had to take a guess, she would assume that they were made of a fiery substance and not an icy one. “Winter Beast doesn’t feel like it fits you very much my friend,” she observed. The beast made eye contact with her through the glass, regarding her with a curious glint in his eyes. (Rorrim 0 1/5, 0 1/5)

Fanged couldn’t help but concern herself with the ethics of this situation. Perhaps it had been recently instilled into her to question authoritative figures, but this whole place felt wrong to her. She drew closer to the enclosure, maintaining eye contact with the creature inside. She felt an overwhelming sense of empathy for this creature. Narrowed, judging eyes stared back deeply into her own. She held the gaze until the creature looked away from her. She felt a sense of closeness with the beast and a desire to figure out where things had gone wrong for him. Immediately, her brain switched to investigation mode. She needed to gather information about this creature and hopefully figure out a way to make things better for him. For now, she would stay by his enclosure and gather intel on who ran this place. She felt a solid sense of determination settle over her as she prepared to accomplish her task.
