Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

They'd... won. They'd won a fight. Aster couldn't really believe it when it happened, but against all odds, the Laredo managed to catch one of its opponents, and apparently its armor plated weight turned out to be good for something: crushing an opponent into passing out.
It did feel a bit odd to be fighting a creature he had personally trained, but it wasn't like he had worked extensively with the Equillion. And hey, if one of 'em was going to win, he really would rather it be his own horse in the race, so to speak.
The win had no effect on the Laredo, just like the loss hadn't really seemed to faze it either. It followed the treat that Aster used to lead it onto the sand, and after Aster fed it, paid him no more attention.
Shaking his head, Aster left the Laredo and took his place in the stands.

The murp had managed to pull out a win in their last fight, and it appeared his critter wouldn't be consistently outclassed the way the petite tournament had gone. Nerius didn't hold out any hope that Shale would possibly be the champion, but some wins were better than none.
Their opponents had already arrived, and Nerius saw they'd be up against a big lizard. Not a reptilian creature called a 'lizard' in slang, but a literal giant lizard. It looked like the little critters he saw sunning themselves on rocks at the outskirts of the mines, except it was so big he could have used it to pull a cart. Would it have any tricks up its metaphorical sleeves? The restrictions for this tournament meant there weren't as many wild powers as usual, but he still couldn't rule it out. Shale wasn't sure what to make of the laredo, and just watched it warily, stomping a hoof, but not making any overly aggressive moves yet.

... Yet another face - or should he say muzzle? - that Aster recognized. It took him a moment, since he hadn't trained this one for very long, but the more he watched the Murp, the more familiar it seemed.
This was, he could see, going to be an interesting tournament in more ways than one.
Now that it had an opponent to face down, the Laredo did look a little more alive. Not a lot, of course; that would be a lot to ask of it. But a little. It turned its head this way and that way, as if trying to make sense of the opponent. It had never seen a Murp before, like as not. Aster thought maybe the Laredo didn't like the way the Murp was stomping, but he couldn't have said for sure one way or the other.
At any rate. The Laredo only knew one attack, so that was what Aster called out. "Body slam!"

The creature didn't look terribly spry, compared to the more agile opponents they'd faced before. The laredo looked about as lumbering as the murp, and maybe for once Shale would have a foe that didn't run circles around him. The downside to that was that the lizard also looked much sturdier than the last two, that thick, scaly hide might protect it from the worst of the murp's attack.
Only one way to find out. "Buck," Nerius gave the command, and the murp stomped toward the laredo, ready to lash out with his hooves. He seemed to be starting to associate this place with fighting, and though he still didn't have anything like the wild aggression of a drake, the murp was getting into 'fight mode' much faster than he had before. Nerius hoped that wouldn't make him harder to deal with in the future, but he had gotten the creature for the sole purpose of fighting.

Calculations
Shale uses Buck! Anchovy's Danger Sense activates, Shale misses his attack
Anchovy uses Body Slam! Anchovy's Dexterity of 3 + 2 rolled by staff = 5 vs. 3 Dexterity of Shale Anchovy will deal the most damage possible! Anchovy's Strength of 4 + 7 Resistance = 11 damage 11 - 3 Resistance of Shale = 8 Shale's Stamina is now 4
A coin is flipped due to similar Dexterity, Shale will go first

It was nice, Aster thought, to see his long hours of training pay off. It always had been in the past, but he felt so much more ambivalent about the Laredo compared to some of his other projects that he didn't know if it would feel the same way. But there was that familiar sense of satisfaction when he saw the Laredo just move out of the way of the Murp's flailing legs, and counter by slamming its body into that of the Murp.
It was a good, solid hit... But not enough. The Murp was sturdier than their last opponent, and was still standing after the strike.
"Body slam," Aster dictated. Another one ought to do it, assuming they didn't miss. But the Murp would have a counterattack of its own, Aster was sure, and then it would become a question of whether the Murp could get through the Laredo's tough hide...

As the battle played out, Nerius saw that he'd been correct about the laredo not being more agile than the murp. Sort of. Shale did manage to strike out before the big lizard could move to attack, but its reaction time for dodging was much better, and it managed to evade the flailing hooves. The big lizard could scamper away from potential threats as easy as the little ones, it appeared. The low slung body type was probably also to the creature's advantage, the murp wasn't used to aiming so low when bucking.
It managed to strike back as well, slamming into the murp with considerable force. Shale staggered, likely bruised under his dark fur, a bleeding from a few small cuts where the lizard's spikes had hit. He'd missed last time, but hooves were still the best option, and Nerius repeated the command, "Buck." Shale did have another move, but Nerius suspected the sharp hooves would be better suited to the laredo's thick hide than his more blunt horn. Shale wasn't discouraged by his previous miss, though was a bit annoyed, and lashed out at the lizard again.

Calculations
Shale uses Buck! Shale's Dexterity of 3 + 4 rolled by staff = 7 vs. 3 Dexterity of Anchovy Shale will deal the most damage possible! Shale's Strength of 5 + 5 damage of Buck = 10 damage 10 - 7 Resistance of Anchovy = 3 Anchovy's Stamina is now 3
Anchovy uses Body Slam! Staff rolls a 10, Anchovy automatically hits! Anchovy will deal the most damage possible! Anchovy's Strength of 4 + 7 Resistance = 11 damage 11 - 3 Resistance of Shale = 8 Shale's Stamina is now -4
The Murp did get a good hit in, but didn't manage to take down the Laredo before he himself is taken down. The Pit crew splits into two groups to tend both animals.
Results Anchovy gains 2 levels and Aster gains 5 pit prize points Shale gains 1 level and Nerius gains 3 pit prize points
