Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

The Laredo wasn't what Aster would have called a big winner - after all, they had very clearly lost the first round of the tournament - but it was performing surprisingly better than Aster had any reason to expect. It would never hold against, say, literally any of Aster's more specially trained creatures; it probably wouldn't even last a few seconds against the likes of Azalea or Avander... But maybe a respectful retirement wouldn't be less than the Laredo deserved, actually.
And the dullness of its wit was nice for some things, like delaying the formation of negative associations. At least, it still walked onto the sands without any hesitation when he led it into the Pit. Aster unhooked the lead from around its neck after that, and headed up to the stands to wait. They were the first ones here this time around, and he wondered what kind of opponent they'd have this time.

Another round, another loss. My debut into the world of the fighting pit wasn't as glamorous as I was hoping it would be. Nonetheless, I had to see it through, and the more I experienced, the more prepared I could be for next time. I was determined to take the losses and turn them into something positive. Some day I would stand in my place as champion and wash away any memories of previous defeat.
I had to give it to him, Igor was a tough little thing. He never went down without a fight. Those long spikes on his back took one last stab at every opponent, almost as if he was unwilling to give up even after he was down. As I led him into the arena, he did something I had not seen him do before. He stared at our human opponent for a long time, squinting up at him. I wondered why he would do that, but since I couldn't ask him, I just let him off his lead to face the other combatant.
[Waiting.]

Once again, Aster found himself face to face with a creature that he had trained himself for this tournament. He thought back to the number of them that he had worked with. Three... No, four? And the Laredo made five, though he obviously couldn't face himself. A tournament needed a minimum of six to run. Queen's grace, was he really going to just fight nothing else, aside from that Mosca at the start?
... Well, life was funny that way, wasn't it?
And the one accompanying the Ghaenelt was a Tat-lung, of all things. He'd heard of 'creature citizens', or whatever the proper terminology was, but this was probably his first time seeing one face to face.
Fortunately, the Tat had no interest in him whatsoever. That was just how Aster liked it.
"Body Slam," he said to the Laredo, and waited to see how this new round would play out.
(Anchovy uses Body Slam)

This whole process was starting to become mundane. Enter the pit, take my place on the stands, and wait for Igor to do his thing. This time, however, he seemed a bit off. Instead of staring down his scaly opponent, he kept looking up into the stands. I squinted at the human standing opposite me to figure out what Igor was staring at, but it just looked like a person to me. I shrugged and focused back on the fight, hoping that Igor would get it together and maybe even win for once.
As soon as the opponent came toward him, Igor snapped back into the moment. He briefly looked back at me, waiting for my command. "Igor, bite!" I called out to him. It was the one thing he really knew how to do well. That guy that trained him really did a good job at that part, at least. He finally stopped hesitating and lunged out toward the reptile.
[Igor uses Bite.]

Calculations
Igor uses Bite! Anchovy's Danger Sense activates, Igor misses his attack!
Anchovy uses Body Slam! Anchovy's Dexterity of 3 + 8 rolled by staff = 11 vs. the 4 Dexterity of Igor Anchovy will deal the most damage possible! Anchovy's Strength of 4 + 7 Resistance = 11 damage 11 - 3 Resistance of Igor = 8 Igor's Stamina is now -2
Due to Igor's Thorny Body, Anchovy takes half of his own Strength as damage Anchovy's Stamina is now 4
Though he took down the Ghaenelt in a single blow, the spines of the opposing creature were way too tough for the Laredo to avoid and he takes damage as well. The Pit crew divides into two teams in order to heal.
Results Anchovy gains 2 levels and Aster gains 5 pit prize points Igor gains 1 level and Star gains 3 pit prize points
