Not only was there another contest in the hall soon, there was also another Salonne! Kadin didn't have any one houluh that was particularly suited to this salonne, to be honest. He had plenty that were grown and knew some tricks, but he didn't really have any that had been trained fully in obedience, which he assumed that wits would be more about. So he just chose a houluh from his kennel that was recently grown and could use the experience. Elk was a solid, dependable houluh with a solid, dependable move set. Kadin figured that even if he didn't end up getting first place, he'd still do well enough. He wanted Elk to be exposed to plenty of new things out here in the world, after all, so he could be a solid, dependable dog when he was out and about. So he went to the hall and signed Elk up for the latest Salonne.

Well, might as well try another Salonne, she figured with a small sigh. She hadn't been too lucky with them except for the one Luna had won, but she figured Red had a decent chance of winning this one, or at least she hoped he did. Oh well, it was fine, they would get this going no matter what, she figured with a small chuckle. Patting Red on the head, she signed him up for the Salonne, nodded to Kadin when she saw him with one of his Houluh, and then took their spot next to the arena. Looking down at him for a moment, she felt a surge of pride. One of the pups from the first litter born, Red had a special place in her heart, and had sired two lovely litters as well. Hopefully his next couple of litters would throw some lovely ones again, she had high hopes for him after all.

Briar walked through the streets briskly, with Joker on his heels, trotting to keep up. They were going for a show. Honestly, he didn't think they'd make a very good showing of it. He hadn't worked with Joker as much as some of these folks. But there was good prize money even if you didn't place first, and anyway Joker could use something to do.
He checked one more time to make sure the lower half of his face was covered by the scarf he was wearing. It made him look a bit odd, but it was better than the looks he would get if they saw the brand. He wanted this to go quickly, and it wouldn't if they stopped him to ask him unwanted questions.
-Here to sign up for the salonne,- he signed. They understood sign here, thankfully. -Can't write. Help fill out form?- He'd brought Joker's paperwork, at least.

When he initially had shown off Dawson's training to the person in the hall, Kristofor had not anticipated being handed a small trophy, a card with squiggles on it, and told to come join a show sometime. These shows, he'd been told by a Laiyan translator once he'd gotten across that was his native language and talking so fast in Common wasn't enough here, were called Salonne and were houlou specific. Had to be a grown up dog though, and have these fancy trophies to show for it. Gesturing grandly at the maroon and gold ribbon suspended in a glass and wood shadow box over the registration; and that winners were quite 'well endowed' for their trainers hard work. Missing or deliberately ignoring the wording, he agreed, and got told the next date was soon, so get in and register! They'd dropped everything after learning of how to get a garden plot to manage to squeak in under the wire, Kristofor dusting both himself and Dawson off by the door before going in and entering him for not just an effect.
