Morgan was prepared once more to make up for a deal that they'd bartered for. If they had nothing else; they had their word. Still, the process was an arduous enough one that they still managed to feel a bit of trepidation when standing at the bottom of the steps of the Altar. The first time they had stood at the foot of the Altar steps, it had been much earlier in the year. They were extremely skeptical of the entire existence of 'magic' and though they still refused to think of it with the typical mysticism that most individuals took when discussing it, they now no longer could deny the existence of the force referred to as magic entirely. They hefted the pieces they had brought in one hand; a round mind crystal glimmering in rosy tones- three darkly ominous shards- and the three berries that had went from collection to a preservation baggie; Morgan knew because they had collected them theirself. After checking for the umpteenth time that they had all of the required pieces to get the dirty job they had set before theirself that morning, they let out a sigh that was just on 'this side' of shuddery. They weren't too worried, but more resigned and exhausted of the work to be done already. They close their eyes, and curl their fingers loosely around the items that they had brought for the purpose at hand. The bespectacled human takes a moment to push their glasses further up the bridge of their nose, where it had fallen a tad due to the slick of sweat. While it wasn't hot many days of the autumn, it was already quite a bit hotter than average today; because of course it would be. As soon as the glasses were placed properly, they opened their hazel eyes again, and pushed off of the first step quietly, ascending the many unsettlingly smooth stairs to get to the top of the altar.

Apprehension was a normal sensation, Morgan found, as they ascended the steps to the top. They remembered the ascension of the years prior with uncanny clarity, and they were incredibly certain that this feeling was much stronger than a mere echo; more than any last stand of a prior emotional haunting. They managed to not tremble as they pushed off of each step and raised their other foot to plant it firmly upon the next. It was a near robotic-movement that they were making, practically marching up the steps. By the time they got to the top they were shaking from the exertion of it. It wasn't that the human wasn't in decent shape, but more the mixture of physical exertion and emotional turmoil that mixed together to make the human have a slightly more difficult time breathing.
Soon, however, they managed to get to the top. They stood with shoulders squared, and very pointedly they keep their eye on the altar ahead.

There were always people on either side of the direct path from the topmost step to the altar in the back. Morgan had no idea why they were there, or who they were. Any inquiry into the matter had been met with a simple complete lack of answers to be had, and they withheld the desire to ask one of the shrouded figures as they stood at the top of the stairs. After a bit of trepidation and steeling their resolve once more, the human moves to the Altar without much more ado, their eyes on it and not on the unsettling figures about them. As they stop in front of the altar, they finally blink (their eyes quite dry from not blinking along the short walk there). Their oversized labcoat swished at their ankles, an echo of their movement that was soon as still as they were.
They held the items out in a palm, and then placed the round mind crystal on the altar first. Afterwards, they arranged the dark purple colored crystals down next, arranging them around the spherical mind crystal in the middle.

The process itself was something that Morgan remembered quite well; having done it before of course. Experience wasn't something that helped whenever Morgan glanced over and saw that they still hadn't replaced or cleaned the nasty blade. They swallowed, the motion of it like a wave. The pieces were quite close together, they'd made sure of it. They reach for the blade quietly, and held the heft of it in the palm of their hand- meaty part to the handle.
They reached for the berries after that, looking the trio over carefully. Honestly, the sweet taste was no longer all that appetizing to them- they had long since associated it with pain and horror. They open the plastic to get to them and then pop them in their mouth; making sure to chew and then swallow them. They use the sharp part of the soul blade to make an incision on their arm, the upper part to make it less painful overall, and then they swallow again as the blood begins to well up.
They overturned their arm carefully to put the blood on each one of the pieces- making sure each one got a drop of blood.
Pieces out and on the altar- the Spherical Mind Crystal and the Tainted Crystals. Healing berries eaten. Drops of blood on each piece from Morgan's forearm, and Morgan made sure that each was covered.
This was the part that always made them fearful, even though they never remembered it well. They felt the lurch, and closed their eyes, making sure to drop down so that the fall wouldn't be as far. The pain didn't quite surprise them; but they weren't all there enough to be grateful that they never quite remembered how horrific the pain was whenever they nearly drowned in the sensation.
