Crazy enough, Skram returned to the board to try and find another quest to do a couple days later, after they had digested the absolute feast of bugs that they managed to eat. It looked like there was another farm with some pests and, if the drawings on the message were anything to go by, it looked like it was going to be mice or rats! DELICIOUS! A little difficult to get all of that fur out of your teeth after eating a lot of them, but Skram could deal with that if it meant more free meat for a while. They couldn't bring their other pet with them this time so they decided to bring a different one. Spread that love an experience! They felt bad leaving the other one behind when they'd been working on bonding with it but whatever. They didn't want it to get too needy after all. 1

These things that they kept finding under their possession were a lot more work to feed than when it was just them. They weren't sure how much they actually liked it, to be honest. It was nice not to be completely alone and with something that seemed to get along with them fine, but they also didn't like that they had to constantly be able to feed them when they struggled to just feed themself sometimes. Luckily this one they were bringing with them this time was more of a herbivore than a carnivore so their diets didn't overlap as much. They wouldn't have to share any of their snacks with this guy today and would be able to eat as much as they wanted themself so it was all a win in the end! They just needed to figure out where the fuck this farm was supposed to be in the city.

They really should learn how to read at some point rather than relying on pictures and looking for matching symbols in order to figure out what the hell the quests were about and where they were located. Whatever. They were doing just fine so far, not much reason to change it just now. Skram wandered around the labs until they saw a sign that looked like what they needed to find from what the sign had said. Then they wandered along until they looked like the right farm for the job they needed to do. The little fossil pet toddled along behind them, looking around happily as it went along. It sniffed at the flowers sometimes, suddenly realizing that Skram was far ahead of them, and running to catch up. Then it would happen all over again. It really was just a happy little pet wandering after them as they looked for the right farm.

It took longer than it probably should have if they could have only read the address, but they did eventually find the farm. They went up to the farmer to present themself, going through the usual song and dance to do it. What was with people and always having trouble looking down when they knocked on the damn door? How tall were the average citizens here anyway? Actually. They didn't give a shit. They eventually got the farmer's attention and explained why they were here in very plain, very clear language because they didn't want to fucking have any misunderstandings here. They were here for the mice. They did not mention how they would be getting rid of the mice, but they sure did show the farmer that they had a cooler for all of the leftover bodies. They needed to feel the little guy back at their kennel, after all!

The farmer still seemed a little weirded out even though they didn't explicitly mention that they were going to be eating the mice, but Skram just ignored that and instead focused on just getting their permission so that they could go out and start snacking. The farmer seemed unsure that Skram would actually be able to get the job done, but did eventually agree, so Skram nodded and headed off to the barn and the rest of the land to start catching mice, their little stomper toddling along after them. Skram didn't have anything special with them to catch the mice besides a net, but they really preferred to just catch them with their bare hands to teeth. Easier to grab them and bite the heads off that way, no worries about having to detangle them from a net and getting bit for the trouble. They snuck into the barn quietly.

Using as much stealth as possible so that the rodents didn't know that they were there. They left the stomper outside this time so that it could scare any mice that were outside into their hideouts that were hopefully in the barn, where Skram was lying in wait. They snuck in, slowly, sniffing here and there and looking for the mice. It didn't take long before they took their first kill, quickly punching on and snapping up a mouse that dodged left when it should have dodged right. Skram quickly crunched its head off before swallowed down the rest of the body, pleased with the crunch of bones under their teeth even if they weren't looking forward to having to pick all of that fur out of their teeth later on. They'd worry about that after they had a good meal and got so full they were too slow to keep catching mice.

They quickly settled back down and moved on from the site of their first kill, following the walls and sneaking along to try and find their next. They could see the paths that the mice had been taking through the barns and tracked their trails to look for nests and holes, moving quickly and with as much stealth as possible to try and avoid making them all scatter before they could catch them. They tracked them down to a hole in the wall that they were pretty sure had a nest behind it. Not wanting to give them time to think, they quickly snuck their claws through the wall and crushed down on the nest, growling as they grabbed up all of the mice suddenly tangled up in the wall and the bedding. They grabbed up the mice quickly, stuffing them into their mouth and eating as many as they could before the rest could escape.

It was getting difficult to get them in their mouth fast enough so they started snapping necks and throwing them in the cooler, too, to set aside for later. They could only chew so fast! But they didn't want to waste the ones they still had in the hand! They wanted to eat those later! So they stuffed every couple of mice into their mouth, snapping the necks of the rest and tossing them in the cooler to save for later. They'd be eating for days like this! They might even share some with their runner if they were feeling extra generous later. This was the best decision that they had made in a while, they were very pleased with themself for finding this job and thinking about it and for all the other jobs they kept getting there were filling their belly. They needed to take jobs like this more often.

They hated to use it, but it was probably time to start using the net. Despite their best effort, a good number of the mice were able to escape even after they had tried to get as many as possible from the nest. With a huff, they chased after some of the mice who'd managed to get loose from the nest, chasing them down and pouncing on them so that they could get added to the cooler. But they could only chase one at a time! There were so many more out there! Growling, they grabbed the net and tossed it towards a group of mice they hadn't been able to chase down yet. They quickly bundled them up and went off in another direction to grab some other mice they had missed, eventually bringing their whole haul over to the cooler and tossing them all in together once they had be killed.

Untangling the mice from the net was the absolute worst, just like they thought it would be. The found it easier to put them down first and then untangle their bodies, so at least they didn't get bit like crazy once they thought to do that. They then untangled the bodies from the netting and tossed them all in the cooler so that they could store them for later. They wanted to be able to have snacks for daaaays after this! They continued on like this, catching as many mice as possible and putting them all on the cooler now. They were getting so full they were worried about slowing down, but there were always more mice to catch! They made a significant dent in the population of the barn, that was for sure. The farmer would have some relief for a while before the populations got out of control again!
