The quest board has a single, large banner on it right now. It looks like a bunch of youngsters have made it with crayon and it is laminated: "CULTURAL APPRECIATION MONTH!!!" Cultural Appreciation Month? What is that all about? Jolyne comes up with a few more decorations and nods to you. "You thinking about joining this month? I'm giving out QP to anyone willing ta do it." She says, sounding a bit stuffy. It seems like the cold weather has her a bit down! "Check inside for a flyer if ya want." She says, getting to work.
On the Board
In Order to Succeed, you have a few options for this month! Do one of the following to succeed!
(1) Teach a class about your (character's) culture! (2) Go about your usual day, showing us what your character does on a normal day that you wouldn't normally write. (3) Do whatever it is that your character does for their religion if they have one.
This quest will be rolled as per usual.
Prize: Questing Points are the prize for this month, no item.
Challenge Rating: Easy

(told in Lav's perspective) We no longer need to fear for the time the human forgets to feed us and forgets we exist. For weaver are not a memorable species. My twin and I, we baited the child cat and he freed us from our cages, let us into the sun. Except we do not like sun. The moon is a nicer eye overhead then the hot sun that burns our bodies. The cat has grown much since he freed us. Stout of body and slightly taller of foot, he prides in attempting to stay looking somewhat tidy. Imagine our surprise to watch him groom as if he were one of the feral cats from outside who occasionally were fed and released again. He's quiet and reserved, treating beasts like us as family. But there's a lingering... lack of watching the child, no longer a child, do his dailies. We watch him, and now say so. 1 [30 0/5 0/10 11/20]

Since being young weaver, we've seen many a cat and a dog. Sharp witted tree climbers who scratch up everything, including the hand to feed, or socially broken pack beasts who hunt for their food and make noise constantly. A dog is never quiet. To our rotten luck, the cat man has two large hounds. Very doting on them too; as they've lived here almost as long as we have. They, for what little I can glean from their small minds, think the world of him. The big one has a harder time trusting, or it might be for being witless. Unusually has 'hands' for being a dog now. Mum is jealous of those hands. The better to eat with, they believe. I do not want to see my twin acquire hands. They already can throw something with their mind. More frequently then not, attempting to throw smaller objects at me. The cat doesn't like that. But he loves his dogs. Which is weird. 2 [30 0/5 0/10 12/20]

Between us, we remember everyone who has been led through the square space in the wall that counts as in and as out by him. Pointedly, I remember watching him slowly pry those egg sacs off the ceiling away from our webs and come back with fat tan wormlings. There are no wormlings now, only giant spires of spat crystal. An unusual way to cocoon yourself. I can see them though; frozen in time, slowly lengthening. Hardening. The cat did not like having those eggs all hatch on him. There is only one other giant insectoid creature we remember over the time of being alive with many brothers adn sisters. Giant wasps of doom who are fast and leathal to those who meet their end on their sting. Those are doom wasps. The separated room of growing crystal wasps makes me... less at ease. Nothing to say that throwing them against the nearest wall wouldn't stop the beasts. 3 [30 0/5 0/10 13/20]

Imaginitive; being a giant spider, and being wary of gianter wasps. But the cat, although he hasn't shown much interest in the wasps, is... nervous without having one constantly chiruping like a worm for food. And those things are noisy in number. He has an interest in their crystalline looks now. Brushing a limb over the surface. We can see it from the webs. But he comes back around, wearing ...a strange look. I don't know how to describe it. Mum is confused of the look as well. His eyes crinkle together and his hidden mandibles turn inside out. We've seen two eyed creatures; most things are. Few are like us, but we have two main eyes vs many small ones. /What doing/ he looks up and regards me. 'I am doing nothing' I click back, my limbs curled inward like some obscene sort of upside down crab. Not my thought, his. What is a crab. 4 [30 0/5 0/10 14/20]

/You watching me./ the cat accuses him. /You fed already./ Always with the feeding, this cat. Perhaps because he was a starving little snip of a cat when he freed us from our cages. /Still hungry?/ 'No, I am not hungry.' he makes it sound like we are in an eternal state of hunger. 'We do not feed constantly, unlike you or the other beasts. Weaver feed when we feed.' Which isn't an answer but the cat doesn't ask again. He looks towards the room of crystalline wasps again. 'You worry for those loud worms too much.' he wiggles in disconfort before going back to something else to do. 'They will hatch when it is warm.' Warm? Warm! He looks like he wants to protest this a lot, and the fake cage is quite warm, but not that kind of warm. Outside is cold. But he does drop the subject. Good. 5 [30 0/5 0/10 15/20]

Skylos watches the purple weaver fold up and rest again; weaver don't possess eyelids so they just hang out on their giant webs, motionless. He can't even tell that they are sleeping, or just laying in wait. He can't see the green one, Mum. Mum has returned to their normal size. Lav, the purple one, said they weren't hungry. He has a hard time believing that, but they catch their own food. Or just steal from the dogs. he can live with that, somewhat. '/steal from the hungry, and feed themselves. what arrogant bugs./' a mean voice growls. It sounds like his own voice. '/Just like those fat ones outside, while we hole up like rats./' No, there were not many fat one's he's seen. '/because they hole themselves up in mansions outside of main town. hardly anyone sees them unless out for a stroll./' Its just a fantasy. right? As he crosses the small room and looks for a bite to eat for himself. He eats out of stress. 6 [30 0/5 0/10 16/20]

(told in Mum's perspective) Mum on the other hand, is wide awake and watching 'not food' cat look for food for himself. Cat needs more food then they do; but the green twin does occasionally wrap up bugs in the web for late night nibbles. Lav calls it waste, Mum ignored their twin's gripe and calls it being prepared. After all, the cat is how they keep free. There's a certain... emptiness on certain days when Mum just sits there, upside down, watching the cat and dogs and stuff go by. Bigger then cat's hand? Usually not on the menu, which is a shame. He took to the giant food with sharp head pointies very well, and she liked him in return. He made it very clear to the twins when he brought home the dogs. Do not eat them. Cat is a strange cat, and even stranger that Mum understood what he told Lav twin in his weird clicky clicky. 7 [30 0/5 0/10 17/20]

Never mind the length of what Lav twin called TIME that Mum had been a smaller spider, practically hand sized and having a very bad time. To be SMALL it to be eaten, in spider culture. You eat to not be eaten in return. Unless your twin is the same size and you can't eat each other by throwing at walls. Because Mum tried throwing Lav at wall. Didn't work. Tried to confuse. Didn't work. Just confused themself. They are immune to Mum's specialness. And likewise, except Lav boasts talking to others in their heads. Which isn't special what so ever. So there. Sounds more like a case of jealousy, but Mum is not jealous. They don't understand what that even is. Mum's favorite thing to do is throw small objects randomly around the kennel. The cat doesn't like this, and tells Mum so. Mum just pretends not to hear it. Because its funny. 8 [30 0/5 0/10 18/20]

The weavers don't understand human or cat culture, because he does WEIRD things. Like grooming yourself with your face. Why just use his legs to scrape his limbs to scrape his head constantly instead. But now, he face-grooms. It is so weird, and yet so interesting to watch. 'Why does cat groom limbs with face?' Mum asks with confuse as they watch a long, LONG groom with face. Not like he can get much privacy in the small kennel. Someone of his animal posse always watched him. Likely because the groomy thing cats do (and the little winged cat does it too!) is WEIRD. Mum doesn't understand the groomy stuff. /I groom by licking my fur. What's the problem with that./ cat says back, when he gets upset on the near heart attack he claimed to have with the spider lowering themself out of noplace to get in his face and ask question. 9 [30 0/5 0/10 19/20]

Problem? There's no problem. Mum is just confused. /You groom leg on head. Why me groom lick fur bad?/ he asks. Mum is more confused now. Lav, who is 'resting' 'you are totally not resting you brat twin' mentions with amusement of him clarifying groom of antennae on head iwth leg they do. They don't lick though; cannot do so. Mum considers this, spits a sticky web on their limb and tries to groom 'stupidly' like the cat does, out of sheer curiosity. This results in sticking down their antennae to their head until the webbing dries and cracks enough to let them up again. /Flatter. Mimic groom me./ the cat mentions as he watches the mimicry of the webby sticky groom with face that is more spit on leg and groom on head with leg. Lav is laughing. STOP LAUGHING. It is not funny! Get this off of me! Now the cat is making happy noises. Great. Mum made themselves a laughign stock. 10 [30 0/5 0/10 20/20] +1 Skylos -fin
