Badrani's first foray into the world of these 'Quests' had been a bit of a bust. Apparently doing damage to the property of the requestor was not a good way to go about doing quests. They didn't do a ton of damage, but apparently all of that sand was hard enough to clean up... ah well, she'd do better next time. The next time didn't come until a couple of months later; since Badrani had been out at the Canyon for most of that time. Shahrazad came back with her to make sure that she made the trip well enough (I'm not that old yet, Sha!) She had complained quite a bit at that. However, they find theirself at a loss for what to do for the day.
"I guess we might as well check the Quest Board? We can't possibly muck it up as bad as we did last time." Badrani reasons. Shahrazad is quite easy-going enough about trying again, so that made Badrani's decision quite easy.[1]

The last time they'd walked into trying a Quest without having any sort of idea as to what to do. Badrani had no plan, and it had showed. This time she was very intent on finding the easiest thing possible. She told Shahrazad as much as they made their way there. Shahrazad seemed fairly uninterested in all of the stares she received, but Badrani felt all the eyes- despite them not actually being on her. Shahrazad did note that Badrani was getting anxious, though, so they sped up a little on the walk until they finally made it to the quest board. "I'll never get used to that..." Badrani complains, below her breath. Shahrazad nudges her in the shoulder with her muzzle, but didn't speak.
The older Ssashirk looked over the slips for a moment before sighing. "I remember why I took the one before, now." It really was hard to read Common for her still!

Badrani had worked to learn common well enough to read a few manuals when she'd first moved to the City, but she still had quite a hard time figuring out certain sounds. Why did common have so many words that were spelled differently than they were said?! She grumbles as she skips over one of the larger request slips just because she didn't want to wrestle with all of those words. She grumbles a bit. "That one could have been easy for all I know." She murmurs. Badrani finally finds one that seems a little easier to read- the words were really big; but a little sloppy! Perhaps youngsters had written this one? "Kul-ture-all Ap-Rek-Eation?" She tries the words on her tongue. "Cultural Appreciation!" She repeats. Reading the rest of the banner went much the same way, with her trying her hardest to make out what the words were. Most of the time speaking them aloud helped her figure out what the words were supposed to be.

There wasn't a whole lot of information to be had about it, though. "Huh..." Badrani says. "Guess we're going to have to check in at the desk. I don't understand what they want?" Was it a type of holiday? Shahrazad follows her to the door and then waits as Badrani walks in to ask whoever was at the desk at the nearby little building this go around what to expect about that particular quest. She is immediately a little put off by how rude seeming the mannerisms were of the person at the desk. Perhaps that was just part of the culture of the Labs City? She hadn't figured it out herself yet whether or not that was the case.
"I'm here to ask about... Cultural Appreciation Month." She decides on, picking her words as carefully as possible in Common. 'You thinking of joining this month?' Was the answer she got. Apparently they were giving out QP for it.

The issue with that answer was that Badrani still had no idea what she was supposed to actually do in order to complete this 'quest'. It wasn't like the only other one that Badrani had ever done (that one had requested a specific action to be taken in order to help someone- and that made sense. Wasn't that what this 'quest' board was for?) to her knowledge. On top of that, the person that had answered her sounded a little stuffy. Was she sick? Badrani tries not to worry about whether or not she would catch it. Being around the sick was never a good idea for someone of her age and possible weak immune system. "A flyer?" Badrani asks. "What is a flyer?"
Instead of being explained what a flyer was, she was shown one- as one was nearly tossed at her. She better head outside soon, Shahrazad might be worried about her since it had taken this long to get this little information.

Apparently, according to the flyer- all Badrani had to do was to record what a normal day was like for her and Shahrazad. Apparently a book was being compiled about people's first hand reports of their every day activities. Badrani felt like that sounded like it would be very droll, but it seemed easy enough. "This is good, Shah! I don't think we can mess something like this one up." She admitted that it sounded a little foolproof. "I can use this to practice writing in common, as well." She said. "Eventually, if I get good at it, maybe I could teach you as well?" She smiled toothily at the draconic as they began to walk away from the quest board. "We can just talk about what we do tomorrow- and record it."
"That does sound pretty easy." Shahrazad admits. "It sounds much easier than the one we took on last month."

Badrani looks at Shahrazad and Shahrazad looks at Badrani. Both of them show their teeth the slightest bit, and squint. Yeah, maybe they should stop talking about the close to having been failed quest. They'd really done their best, so they really didn't need to beat theirselves up about it. They went home to the Badrani's farm that day, Badrani with the 'flyer' clutched in between her talons. She really did want to get better at using common, since it would be the most useful language in these parts. If she really wanted to integrate into the life of the Labs-City, she would need to take this first step to really be able to figure out about the culture.
That night she went to sleep thinking about that- how convenient it was that she was going to take her first few true steps towards integrating by utilizing a quest during 'cultural appreciation month'.

The next morning finds Badrani as the Ssashirk had become used to it being in the City; the noise of someone walking their large animal on the cobblestones just outside of their own home. It was a shame that the property was really so close to the roads... She wasn't used to such things at all. However, Badrani always did wake up early in the morning. She sits out on her back porch beneath the lavender light of morning fading in quite pleasantly despite the person walking their... Uh, wiurn it looked like- right down the street too. Nice. What a weird place, she thought.
She decides to take note of this the best way she can in their own native tongue on a notepad. She would take notes all day about the things that she and Shahrazad did- so that she could translate it later for the purposes of the quest.

It did seem like something easy to do. Badrani spent most of her days in the City reading at home, or playing with the strange creatures she'd been provided with. None of them were particularly fond of Badrani yet, but she did hope that sometime she would get better at this creature taming thing that the Labs City Denizens were so famous for. It was a little bit on the 'beyond her' side, but she really did want to fit in as best she could (or rather; she felt that she needed to so that she would be less likely to be found- she didn't put that into her report of course). So before Shahrazad woke up (it was not at all uncommon for Shahrazad to sleep a little past noon some days) she tried to get a few of the creatures more acclimated to her by playing with them in the yard; sadly none seemed too keen on it. She does write the difficulty down. It was difficult to acclimate for most newly immigrated folks, she was sure.

Badrani already has lunch prepared by the time Shahrazad wakes up. They both take their lunch out on the back porch because it is a generally warm day with high wispy clouds in the otherwise strangely pale blue sky. Everything was different here... Badrani notes that down along with the rest in her log. Just after that the pair of them go for a walk. Shahrazad isn't well acclimated to the city; she only visited every once in a while- most of her time was spent with the rest of her people at the Canyon. Being in the Labs City could be a little dangerous for them both; as long as she was around. Some people were not as happy with Draconics living near people as Badrani was.
The rest of their day was whiled away in comfort and safety- as well as with conversation. Though Badrani reported everything and then spent the next day translating, she really didn't feel like her life was all that interesting... Hopefully it would count at least!
