Badrani waits just outside of the City yet again for her soulbond to visit the Labs City again, and to partake in taking a quest yet again. So far, she'd found the tasks quite rewarding and really enjoyed having her friend with her on the outings. The extra outings had really helped with her anxiety about leaving her house. That was not a really surprising development, but it was a rather... Strange one. Badrani wasn't entirely sure what to do about it- that was until she had began to do the Quests. They gave her a reason to leave her home and Shahrazad's visits gave her some much needed confidence. Shahrazad shows up once again late, this time complaining about a strange thunderstorm that had slowed her down on the way there. It was at that moment that Badrani had noticed that she'd forgotten to make them lunch. How unfortunate, she thought. She stiffened a bit as Shahrazad gave her a hug in greeting.[1]

Shahrazad immediately pulled back at that, looking at the Ssashirk full in the face to catch any meaning there. "What is wrong?" She was very obviously quite worried.
"It's nothing-" Badrani immediately soothes her with a quick clap on the shoulder. "I forgot to make our lunch." She pulls back at that, and then rubs the back of her neck. "Do you think the storm will be coming this way?" She was actually pretty excited at the thought of it. She really loved storms, as she'd come to know them in the Labs City.
"I'm not sure." Shahrazad admits. "It was blowing this way, but I am not certain if there is more to come." At that, she begins walking ahead of the Ssashirk back into the Labs City. "Will we be going to the Quest Board again this month?" She asks, more in a conversational tone. It seems that her concerns were rightfully forgotten.

Badrani follows on after her friend and catches up the best she can- the entire time wondering if maybe she should start exercising more often. Her 'old' bones really were not getting any less creaky, that was for sure. "Yes, that was my plan." She says. "If you're still amenable to it?" She watches Shahrazad's face as they walked side-by-side now for any indication that she wanted to do anything else. Finally, Shahrazad speaks- as if she has chosen her words very carefully. "Let's just avoid the pest removal quests today."
Badrani really could never get over how floral Shahrazad's language felt- as if every word bloomed and withered in the space of a second, beautiful four-o-clocks in the evening time. She nods, and chuckles. "I agree..." She keeps up with Shahrazad's sudden power walking, and catches the scent she has began to associate with rain on her nose as well. "Perhaps we can find something enjoyable this time."

It wasn't that they didn't think that people needed help with pests often- or that they didn't want to do that ever again. It just seemed like they took on quite a few of the pest removal quests in a row and though that was by design (they tended to be easier than some of those requiring people with specific skillsets- something that Badrani could not hope to offer quite yet) they were a little bit weary of them. Hopefully there wasn't anyone out there really hurting for pest removal this month and nothing else.
They make it to the Quest Board without any issues other than the pair of them communicating about where to go for lunch. Since Badrani had forgotten it, it would certainly be a conundrum. Food could be both very cheap in the city and very expensive, and Badrani was not quite hurting for funds- but didn't want to spend a whole lot either understandably... But she didn't want to admit that to Shahrazad either.

Shahrazad, though a little small in comparison to a lot of her people, was also quite a bit bigger and thus required much more food than Shahrazad did. In addition, Badrani had long since started limiting her intake as an elder, so there was much more of a gulf than one would expect. She generally packed very light lunches for her, and most of the volume of their meals were dedicated to her much larger (and warmer-burning, so to speak) friend. So they were going to have a very difficult time finding a place that could accommodate Shahrazad without feeding her something meant for wiurns.
Their lunch conversation was cut short by their approach of the quest board. Badrani had still not learned quite how to properly read common yet- so she would have to really focus to figure out how to read certain different quests. In addition, the board was strangely devoid of hand-written shorter pieces this month.

Badrani searches for something that looks like it would give her the least trouble to sound out. Almost all of them looked difficult, so she picked the one with the most plain looking paper. Hopefully that was a good indication of a short-winded visual elaboration. "Local." She murmurs. "The-ater. Troop." She recognized Local and Troupe once she sounded them out, but Theater was something she hadn't heard before. "Play. Support the Arts." She tries to put all of the things together, with the context clues, and she decides that this must be some military exhibition. "I think there is a military exhibition tonight? They are... Wanting people to come?" She looks at Shahrazad as if the draconic could somehow give her the answers that she couldn't glean, despite also not knowing how to read common well.
Shahrazad mimics a shrug that looked quite a bit like Badrani's own. "That doesn't sound right. Does the city even have a militia?"

Badrani puts a claw beneath her jaw and taps one of the harder scales there before she answers. "I don't... Think I've seen one? But Troupe? And Arts? Like martial arts?" She looks over at Shahrazad, who turns her full attention to Badrani at that point. "Did you say 'theatre'?" She asks.
"Yes, The-ater. I'm not familiar with the word." The ssashirk has an inkling that maybe Shahrazad might know that one when she doesn't. It also shows that Shahrazad hadn't been listening to her completely before (which was fine, though troubling in other ways- was there something that was requiring Sha's attention due to being dangerous? Though most likely it was because hearing Badrani try to sound out words was quite boring).
Shahrazad cracks a quick grin. "Theatre is like..." She closes her purple eyes in concentration. "Hmm... Make-Believe. Imagination. But a group of people 'acting' out those things in front of an audience."

The draconic seemed quite excited about the whole thing, and that by itself was enough to convince Badrani that they were going to take this 'quest'. Badrani tended to not mind many different inconveniences in her elder age (especially in such a soft place as this 'Labs City', where the entirety of life felt so much less harsh than her past difficulties) due to having experienced so many different things in her life. Even if she didn't quite wind up liking this 'theater' it was obvious that Shahrazad was interested. "Would you like to go, Sha?"
The draconic practically bounces with joy; and it shows that she's still quite young despite being fully grown now. She still had all that energy from before waiting just under the surface. "Yes! I'd love to see what theater is like here in the City!" She'd really been doing this to figure out the customs of the people of the city- and this was the perfect opportunity.

Badrani takes one of the flyers for the event (apparently there was a pocket in which a stack was held) and then they overview the time on it. "It doesn't happen until this evening..." She murmurs, a little disappointed about that at first. "But- that means we can go to lunch." She perks back up. "I know a place towards my home that might have something suitable for you, and if not- we can head home and make lunch." Badrani was quite hungry, admittedly. Shahrazad nods. "I'd love to go!"
Badrani and Shahrazad spend the rest of their day between the cafe and then home afterward, resting after Shahrazad's long journey. It did wind up storming during the day, but it cleared out by four in the evening. Soon enough, they were getting ready to attend the 'play'.
"Do you think you'll like it?" Shahrazad asks. "I've been to a few plays at home, myself."

Badrani shrugs, but gives a very small smile just for Shahrazad as they exit Badrani's home and go on their way to the area where the play was supposed to take place. "Either way, it is a new experience and shouldn't be as unpleasant as the barn mice incident." It had been a stressful situation, trying to figure out how to get rid of those. This couldn't be that bad; even if they didn't wind up liking the show. They arrived at the set-up theatre a little early and found a good seat where Shahrazad would fit on the side. As they waited, they were passed a few treats from someone dressed in some sort of a uniform. Soon enough, the production began. It was some sort of drama about a merchant, and though it was not realistic Badrani found herself completely entranced by the delineation between honor and family.
The pair considered it a success, and couldn't stop talking about it on the way home- discussing the good plot points and laughing at the bad ones.
