Badrani really had no excuse at this point as to why she and Shahrazad had not went out fishing together yet. She really did plan on it, but they wanted to start in the dry season. They both felt like the Dry Season was safer- and though it pushed their plans out quite late Badrani felt like it was a decent reason. Not a good excuse, but decent enough to put it off just a little further. She was anxious about it, to be honest. They did get lost the last time... Though that was when Shahrazad was really young.
It was one of those nice days where Shahrazad was meant to visit so that they could take on a quest- or at least that was what they generally did whenever Shahrazad came for a visit. She'd forgotten their customary lunches last time (her memory was not quite as good as it was when she was young!) so she is extra sure to prepare the lunches this time.[1]

After methodically preparing the lunches, Badrani set out on her way to meet Shahrazad at the edge of the town yet again. It had began to become a bit of a habit for her, and that was good. Some days she was a little scared to come out of her home, so this additional reason to get out of the house was one of the better changes she'd made to her life since coming to the Labs City. Shahrazad was already waiting at their usual meeting spot. The spot was even more beautiful now that they were in the throes of September; it was such a mildly warm day out that Badrani really could not have hoped for a better one. "Nice to see you, Sha." She greeted, beneath their customary maple tree, as she gave the draconic a hug about her shoulders. "How have you been?" She asks, drawing back to look her in the face after the embrace.

"I've been well!" Shahrazad replies, giving Badrani a nuzzle on the shoulder in return. "I trust you've been as well?"
Badrani simply nods. A whirling maple seed makes it's whirly-gig travel down to the earth and nearly slaps Shahrazad in the face as it does. The draconic breaths out a bit to startle it away from her path. "Shall we?" She says, offering the draconic to go before her so that they could walk. "I enjoyed the play last month. Do you think they will have another this month?" Badrani asks.
"I doubt we will be that lucky." The draconic wistfully replies. She had really loved the production as well. "I'm sure we'll be back to bug-slaying again in no time at all."
Badrani snorts a little at that. "I'll try to avoid pest-removal requests the best I can." She promises. She didn't particularly want to do any of those again either, to be honest.

Perhaps next year, Badrani would be up and ready for more pest removal. For now, it felt like they had done about half of the quests they had taken doing something along those lines. It seemed troublesome and boring, and of course most of the individuals would probably be quite upset for Shahrazad's use of sand to blast away the tiny critters. Badrani's bones were just too creaky to chase the small pest-y beasts away from things anymore, let alone to catch and kill them. Shahrazad was much younger, but she tended to prefer activities that were much more dignified than those. Badrani really could not blame her.
They begin the walk there in silence, and soon enough Badrani breaks that silence. "What sort of quest would you be hoping for?" She assumed that Shahrazad might have had something particular in mind.
"I don't know..." Shahrazad says. "I'd like to help someone-" She crinkles her nose. "But not with bugs."

Badrani humms in response to that. She was actually just hoping for another 'play' or some other cultural phenomenon. She was sure that Shahrazad would prefer one of those, too. They were both quite interested in the culture- though for entirely different reasons. Badrani wanted to become a 'real' part of the City (partially so that she could enjoy her retirement in peace) and Shahrazad had an interest in all cultures. She readily listened to books being read to her by other draconics as a hobby, she'd told Badrani once.
The streets were a little bit on the non-busy side that day, so they got to the quest board relatively quickly. The board itself, however, was chock full of slips of paper. Some were small, some were absolutely huge. There were some handwritten, and out of those some were so long and others very short. There were some advertising one event or another, but they seemed to be stamped with 'Event full!' or 'Event over!'

Badrani is momentarily overloaded by how many different slips were all over the board. She does make note that all of the 'events' were full-up. She looks visibly disappointed at that. "Sorry Sha, looks like if we had managed to get here a little earlier- we might have gotten free entry into some events." Both of them preferred events to literally anything else. "So I guess we need to look for something where we are helping someone... Like the War Elder with the cookies." She murmured, mostly to herself.
Shahrazad stays in the back as she always did, since she could not read yet. She did want to learn, but until Badrani herself could read common better, it would be difficult to teach her. So Badrani looks over the slips alone, trying to find one that was suitable for their own uses. She eventually picks up a smaller one with hand-writing on the note.

Badrani had a hunch that they would have a better chance of helping someone in specificity if she looked only for the hand-written notes. The one she had picked up, however, had sadly been about bugs again. "Why are there so many bug problems in this city?" Badrani could hardly imagine. Then again, there were much more vegetables here than there were anywhere she'd ever lived before. That had to be the reason why there were more than she would have imagined. She replaces the slip on the board and goes to grab another. "Does the canyon have this many bug problems?" She asks.
"Not commonly." Shahrazad answers.
Badrani humms at that and reads the slip she has in her hand, another short handmade one. "Fifi. Friday, Errands." She re-reads a couple of the parts that give her difficulty. "Someone needs a hatchling-sitter for a pet." She tells Shahrazad. "Sounds like an easy bet."

Badrani was admittedly not great at animals, but she had a sneaking suspicion that Shahrazad would be much better at it, herself. Shahrazad seems to agree to it quickly. She wonders aloud something that Badrani had been thinking- "Aren't short repetitive names usually for cute small pets?" Badrani shrugs, but murmurs that she thinks so as well. They note the address, and then with the lunches tucked neatly under Badrani's elbow the pair of them make their way across town to the address. It was quite a distance away, but the walk didn't hurt Badrani's joints too badly. It was a good softly warm day, after all. Soon enough the pair found themselves in front of a small farmhouse with a large barn in the back. "Looks like Fifi might not be so small after all?" Shahrazad says, noting the large barn.
The dark Ssashirk walks up to the house's door, and knocks on it with her scaley knuckles.

Someone opens the door pretty quickly. Shahrazad was certain that it was a human female even before the person spoke with a higher-pitched voice- "Oh thank goodness! I was afraid no one would get here in time to watch Fifi for me! Come this way, come this way!" She brushes past Badrani and walks out to the barn across the soft grass in her yard with aplomb. Badrani anxiously looks back at Shahrazad and waves and they both rush to catch up with the woman. "FIFI!" the woman hollars. Badrani is quite shocked whenever the giant beast comes sauntering out of the barn by itself. It was on a large chain- but there was no way that the soft leather collar could hold that thing back if it was mad.
It was one of those giant monsters with the claws and spines on the tail. Badrani steeled her stance and tightened her jaw upon realizing what they'd signed up for.

"This was not what I was expecting." Badrani says to Shahrazad, but only after the owner has left. "We will do it, but only because I said we would."
"What if it gets out, off of the chain?" Shahrazad asks- and rightfully so. The creature was gigantic and quite obviously SO powerful!
"I... I don't know." Badrani admits. They were in a bit of a pickle. Luckily for them, They had been provided with a giant ball for the creature to play with, and the owner said they'd only be gone for an hour or so. So Badrani stays well out of reach of the creature's chain and tries not to aggravate it- but passes the ball to it with a well aimed kick. Shahrazad seems less afraid, and is much closer to the creature the entire time during the 'game' than the older Ssashirk would have wanted to be.
Thankfully, the owner is back after the hour is up and they are able to go home without a scratch. Lucky.
