The creature leaned forward, the antlered head quite big, and looked at the object that was shown to it; crystal shards. Made with the mansion's magic, the creature was sure. They were indeed quite pretty, but the creature itself wasn't sure if the individual was trying to communicate something or not. It was making noises, but they appeared to have some kind of pattern.
The creature looked up at the being after looking at the shards, and turned its head slightly sideways, trying to figure out what the individual was. It didn't look anything like itself! Did everything outside of the mansion look like this? The creature glanced down at it's own claws, and then off into the distance. It wanted to be able to explore outside of here, but it didn't know the way out on its own!

The creature appeared quite interested in the crystal shards that she showed it. When it had finished checking out the crystal shards, it turned its attention towards her. It was friendlier than Leafy expected it to be. Once again, she was reminded that she was thankful that she had brought a rather easy-going pet along with her. Cicero didn’t see the other creature as a threat. Leafy thought this might be due to the fact that he was incapable of higher thought. He just continued perching on her shoulder, his head tilted to the side as he observed the newcomer.
“Are you lost?” Leafy questioned.
The creature looked a bit anxious to leave the room. It was glancing around looking for an exit. Leafy decided that she would try and help it. After all, it was also her goal to leave this room and move on to the next one. She scanned the walls of the room, searching again for the door. It was a bit difficult to see in the low light. There was no obvious exit to the room and she couldn’t see the door the creature had entered through. Perhaps the door was there and she just couldn’t see it. She placed one hand on the wall, feeling around for any indents that would indicate the presence of a door. She felt a bit nervous needing to find the door while the creature was watching. She didn’t want to disappoint it.
“Just give me a moment and I’m sure we’ll find the door in no time!” she exclaimed with enthusiasm.
She gave herself a moment to think. If she were a door where would she hide? She felt she was onto something with her invisible door theory and now it was up to her to find it. She tried to be quick, she didn’t want the wild creature to become impatient. With a little bit of quick searching, she finally found a part of the wall that was indented strangely. She felt around until she managed to hook her fingers into the edge of the indent. She managed to pull the portion of the wall open, revealing an opening into a new room. It wasn’t a way outside, but it was a way out of this room.
“Voila!” she declared.

The creature followed the individual, curious as to what the strange tone that was used meant. The creature found that the individual had found a door. The creature wondered vaguely if the individual wanted it to look in there. It stuck it's head into the room, and then looked at the individual, curiously. Was this a way out? It didn't look like a way out.
The creature gave off a strange noise; it sounded... Melancholy, before sitting back down and looking at the individual a bit questioningly. The communication barrier was certainly real here, it thought. It wondered if it just followed the being, if it would be able to figure out more about the outside world.

The creature appeared to be concerned with the door she had found. It investigated it for a moment before deciding that it wasn’t the proper way out. Leafy decided she was going to need to show this creature how the mansion worked. It wasn’t exactly easy to get out. She stepped past the creature, taking care to move slowly enough in order to not startle it. Cicero snuggled in close, his gaze fixed on the new room. He was alert, but comfortable because of the girl he was perched on. He was starting to trust her more and it was safer snuggled against her than it was floating around aimlessly. The new room was large enough that it would be able to fit both her and the wild creature with ease. She gestured for the creature to follow her as she stepped into the next room.
“Follow me,” she said happily.
She pointed to herself and then again made a ‘come here’ gesture with her hand. She wasn’t sure how much the creature actually understood her, but she figured she could still try to communicate. Once in the room, she waited to see if the creature would listen to her and enter the new room as well.

The creature followed after her, excitedly, feeling somehow that it was understood this time! The creature seemed quite happy as they passed several rooms. The creature said something, and it made a noise back, conversationally, but not knowing what the being was saying. The creature tipped its head sideways at the creature gestured, to itself and then something else.
Yes, bring me to the front please! It followed after her, even though it had not necessarily understood the gesture quite well yet. Perhaps it could learn in the future?

Leafy felt herself growing comfortable with this creature. Cicero also appeared to be warming up to it. He didn’t leave his perch on her shoulder, but he did chirp happy nonsense at the creature. They walked through a few more rooms with little trouble. Leafy tried to dig deep within herself to locate the entrance. She followed her instinct, which might just work out for her in the end. The mansion seemed to have that sort of property to it. If you wanted to leave, it let you, but it also made you walk through a maze first before you could.
“This should be it!” she declared as they entered a room with windows.
Windows couldn’t lie. It meant this room led to the outside world. The wild creature seemed eager to go there and Leafy felt proud that she had been able to guide it there. She gestured to the creature and then to the door. She stepped close to the door and tested the doorknob. Thankfully, it wasn’t locked and opened up to the outside. She turned to smile at the creature.
“Here we are!”

The creature looked outside excitedly as soon as it got there. It jumped a bit, back and forth, and then looked at the being expectantly. The creature would not be able to find it's own way out there, but perhaps the person would show it? The creature excitedly bounced again, but stood at the door, waiting for the being to join it.
The being would join it, right? It had been nice so far!
[The creature really wants you to show it the outdoors! Will you let it come with you?]

The creature was pleased that she had led it outside. Happiness filled Leafy’s heart and she couldn’t help but to share the creature’s excitement. Cicero chirped excitedly as well. He didn’t know why they were excited, but he wanted to be included in the joy as well.
“You want me to go with you?” She smiled at the notion. “Sure, why not?”
She followed the creature as the two of them went outside. In the sunlight, she could truly marvel how beautiful the creature was. It would fit right in with the rest of the creatures in her kennel, that was a certainty.
“How about we explore the garden?” she gestured to the grounds around them as she spoke.
Cicero was pleased at being outside and he took to the air. He floated close to the creature and gave a happy chirp to the being. It was always exciting to make a new friend!

The garden outside is quite beautiful; like a dream. However, this month things in the mansion turn into nightmares often...

June Leafy hadn’t planned on stopping in at the mansion this month. However, she’d seen a flier around town that had drawn her interest. It was a missing person’s report. It was faded which made it difficult to make out exactly, but the content was the important part. A girl had gone missing in the mansion earlier in the month and she hadn’t been seen in quite some time. She wanted to check it out, but she also had an obligation to care for the Izer hatchling she had just received. The creature was sickly, which was standard for his species. She held the hatchling in the palms of her hands. She had named him Ranger, which seemed fitting if he was to grow up to be a messenger. “I’ll keep you safe,” she promised the little creature. She might not have much experience caring for hatchling Izer’s, but she’d raised baby pets to adulthood before. (Ranger 0 1/5, 10 1/5) 1

She approached the mansion with a strange thrill in her chest. This trip could very well prove to be dangerous and she had only brought Ranger with her. She would be the sole protector for this journey. She intended to take a quick look around the mansion, giving her a chance to see if there was anything outright concerning afoot. Leafy was never one to shy away from adventure and she wanted to have a chance to figure out what had happened to the missing girl. She shivered at the thought of something treacherous happening. She glanced down at the sickly Izer and decided that perhaps a little bit of exploring would do him some good as well. She needed to help him build up his immune system and she couldn’t exactly do that if she kept him inside all day. She’d only gotten him this exact day, but she already felt herself bonding with him.

She kept Ranger elevated as she approached the mansion door. The little Izer was too sickly to spook much, so she hoped he would be able to make it through a brief excursion through the mansion. If things got too bad, she could always hide him away in her backpack if need be. She needed to be careful, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t take a quick look around. If she came across anything truly dangerous, she could always run away.
“Are you ready?” she asked Ranger as she stepped into the mansion.
The tiny Izer squawked feebly and wiggled around a bit in her hand. She smiled down at him and turned to look around the room. It was brighter than she expected, almost like the sun was shining directly down into the room. There weren’t any windows in the room, so it felt especially strange to the girl.

Ranger blinked his eyes open sleepily as a loud noise reverberated through the room. It took Leafy a second to identify the source as fireworks. Ranger squirmed closer to her as she held him against her chest. She needed the baby Izer to make it through his newborn phase, but she also couldn’t shy away from the call to adventure. It was a difficult position to be in, but the girl was confident in her ability to make it work.
“Alright, if I was a missing person, where would I be?” she questioned aloud.
Talking to herself made her feel better, but she also did it to get Ranger used to the sound of her voice. Izers weren’t smart enough to truly understand language, but Leafy was fairly certain that they’d be able to pick up the meaning of a word here and there. She wanted to teach him everything.

She ran her finger along the downy fluff on the Izer’s head. She needed to get him used to her touch if she wanted him to continue trusting her. When she needed to take the time to look around the room, she tucked the hand holding the Izer into the pocket of her hoodie. That way he could stay safe while she did mildly dangerous things. Not that the mansion was particularly dangerous. Though if a girl had actually disappeared here, it might be a whole lot more dangerous than she had expected it to be.
“Alright, time to check for clues!” she declared.
She felt antsy as she scanned the room for any signs of a struggle. She didn’t expect to find anything in the first room, but it would be neglectful of her not to check. There were no signs of a struggle. Usually things like tipped over furniture would indicate if there was.

A scream could be heard from within the mansion deep; but it sounded loke it came from a direction in which there were no doors? Oh no!
