It had been a while since Fiera had gone to the breeding center, but she had done it so many times that her footsteps were almost automatic. They'd probably be happy to have one of their best customers back... or at the very least would remember how to deal with her. Granted, not everything was the same. In the pet carrier she tucked under her arm, she carried a pachee new to the breeding grounds. Slim Jane (or 'Jane' as the humanish called her more simply) was untested in the breeding rooms, and Fiera wasn't sure how well she would cope with this. The female pachee was... a little aggressive, if Fiera was being honest. She had far too much of a tendency to play rough with the other pachee, but it wasn't like her partner today had to know that. Speaking of, Fiera squinted into the distance towards the upcoming breeding center, looking for Jack.

Okay so Blackbird was annoying today, this probably wouldn't end well. Considering he was one of the few Pachee who could make noise, and the fact that he had wings, meant he had the capacity to be a nuisance.
Great.
Jack frowned as she sat at a little picnic table outside of the Breeding Center, waiting for a gaudy hat to come into view, not like she would tell Fiera that of course. It had been way too long since she had done anything, but how could she refuse a request like this? Life had been rough lately, and she needed the distraction. Fiera was pretty good for that, she thought with a low chuckle.
Blackbird hopped onto the table and stared intently at her face for a moment before opening his beak. Before he could scream at her though, she clamped the fingers of one hand around his beak. They glared at each other before Jack noticed someone coming into view, and waved her free hand in the air.

Ah, and there she was. Fiera's ears flicked in reaction to spotting a waving hand outside the breeding center. She quickly glanced behind her at the empty sidewalk. Yeah, there was no one else that could be for. She adjusted her gorgeous hat, all decorated with feathers and beads, very expensive, thank you very much, and gave a brief wave back at Jack. Sure enough, Blackbird was there with her as well, looking chipper as usual. She couldn't hear him yet, but it was only a matter of time. "Hello, Jack." Fiera said, approaching the table before heaving the carrier up onto it. "Ready to get this done?" She said, patting the top of it. As if in response, Jane launched a little paw out between the bars, trying to take a swipe at Blackbird, claws extended. "...She's so happy to meet a new friend!" Fiera lied, scooching the cage back on the table.

Jack gave an amused look, "Yes, excited. I can feel it." She gave a stern look at Blackbird after letting go of his face, but he wasn't paying attention as he peered into the carrier, just out of reach of the Pachee within. Oh.... this was going to go so well....
All she could do was rub her face with her free hand not holding the leash she always used and then motion toward the door. Ignoring Blackbird's indigent squawk, Jack scooped him up under one arm and went over to open the door, motioning for Fiera to go first.
Maybe this wasn't the day for this, they both seemed like they were in a mood. Oh well, things might not be horrible, right? "Any news from your way?" Jack managed to ask, wondering what was going on in the Labs at the moment. She was busy at home, that needed to stop.

Fiera was also hoping this would go well. Hopefully even if they got into a fight, that would kick enough pollen into the air for the breeding to work? It wasn't exactly a great outcome, but it was something. Fiera was happy to step through first, glancing around the breeding center. "Hmm, not much." Fiera said idly. "Entering some contests, knocking them out of the park, same as usual." She said with her usual haughty air as she approached the front desk. "Hello there! Checking in for Slimjane and Blackbird?" She said, briefly conversing with the attendant to get their paperwork and breeding room. She set Jane down to accept it before passing a clipboard over to Jack. "How about you? Haven't seen you around as much lately." She said. Not that it was any of her business, but if there was one thing Fiera liked, it was gossip.

"Yeah, you always seem to do well in contests. Not that it's a bad thing," Jack said with a smile as she took the clipboard. She kept the leash loosh around her wrist as she filled it in, just like she had so many times before. It was strange being back, but she shook her head and did her best to focus. That was getting hard though, she didn't know why it was.
Thinking as she passed the clipboard back, she finally gave a bit of a shrug, "It's been hard to focus on anything lately, so I've been keeping to myself mostly. Seems like this happens occasionally though, it'll drop off after awhile I'm sure."
Was that a concerning thing? Jack frowned a little as she glanced down at Blackbird, who was wagging his tail almost like a canine as he stared into the carrier again and chirped. Still out of harm's way of course.

"It had better not be a bad thing!" Fiera said, indignant. "I work hard on what I do." She said, turning up her nose. Then, she gave Jack a gentle kick in the ankle. "Sounds like you need to just start on something, then." She said. "Some mechanical, not focus based. It's a lot easier to keep going with something once you're already there and it feels more like a force of habit." She said as she handed off the clipboard. The attendant gave them the number of the breeding room and Fiera trotted off down the hall, finding the room within moments. "Well, here we are." She said, pushing open the door and setting Slim Jane's carrier down inside. It had plenty of soil, hides, and fake plants for the pachee to play with, though Jane might end up just tearing them apart. She slipped the breeding berries out of her pocket and pushed them through the bars of the carrier. Sure enough, they were torn to shreds within moments.

Mechanical huh? Jack raised an eyebrow at Fiera's back as the woman whisked off toward the breeding room. That wasn't a horrible idea, but you still had to make sure you didn't die or something. Mining came to mind, and Jack gave a small frown as she thought about being deep within the caves again. At least it was familiar, she supposed.
Stepping into the room after Fiera, Jack slipped the leash off of Blackbird and leaned against the wall as he tore off, chirping and being a general nuisance. Hmm...
"Your girl seems a bit.... opinionated, I feel," Jack mentioned as she glanced into the carrier to witness the carnage. A smirk crossed her face as she glanced up at her friend, "I bet she fits in really well."
She might get kicked a little harder for that one, but it would probably be worth it, she thought, amused with herself.

"Oh, she's a chip off the old block." Fiera said, making a pointed look at Jack's ankles. Still, she glanced into Jane's cage and found that the female pachee had indeed made short work of the berries, albeit splattering them across the walls of the carrier. Hopefully enough of them got onto her paws however, and Fiera finally felt the need to let loose the pachee of war. Slim Jane burst from the carrier the moment Fiera undid the latch, skidding across the floor before frantically gauging her surroundings. When she realized that she was finally free, she honed in on Blackbird and launched herself at him, her wings flapping madly to try and give her more speed. "...He'll be fine." Fiera said, while making a face she was pretty sure would read as "reassuring" as she leaned up against the wall to watch the pair of pachee "play" with each other.

"He can hold his own I'm sure," Jack said dryly, glancing over at Fiera with a small snort. The Pachee squawked again and flapped into the air and perched on... basically a bird perch. He was chipper and dumb, but today he was in a mood, which did not help things. He glared down at the female and whacked his tail against the post of the perch, letting loose a volley of pollen. Well... maybe this would get the job done. "It's like watching a cat stalk a bird," the woman winced a little and watched them. Someone was going to start bleeding, and it would probably be Blackbird.
A shrug escaped her and she sighed a little, "Hey, thanks for hauling me out of the house, I appreciate it." Though they probably wouldn't say much more, at least it was nice to say one last thing just in case. She would... she would have to ask to come back soon, this time she would actually ask.
