Renathan and Sarabi continued forward a ways. She seemed to understand exactly where they were going now; which was for the best. Renathan was sure that they could spend as much time as they needed today looking for the other crystal that he could feel. He knew that this wasn't really all they were looking for today, but he was sure that he would find an absolute trove of stuff sooner or later! That would make this all worth it in the end. Sure, he needed to find crystals so that he could get a few extra credits, since feeding creatures took quite a bit of credits as was, he hoped to be able to find enough stuff for him to be able to do his job properly this month, and he really needed more supplies. He'd been leather working recently too, and he really hoped to be able to continue after mining.

However, mining was very important. He only had a few hours to do it in, today, as well. He wanted to get as much done as possible, of course, until he couldn't anymore. So, he decided to keep on going on, following after Sarabi and being very careful not to stop on her tail. After a moment, however, another horrible feeling washed over him; this time giving him a horrible headache. Renathan shook his head quietly, trying to get the ringing out of his ears and the pressure from between his eyes. Sarabi had stopped as well, and shook her head as well, as if trying to shake the weird feeling out. Renathan had no idea what it was that was messing him up; but he had a guess. It absolutely had to be another crystal, right? This place was so abnormal, that was not something that happened commonly at all!

Renathan hated the feeling, but knew that they had to press on and get the first crystal absolutely first. They needed to get at least one of them, so that the pain would stop. Renathan pushed past Sarabi and blindly moved down the hall, carrying his flashlight. He could see something, feel something down the hallway. Something bright and rainbow-like. Renathan swallowed; he knew what this was. A Prismatic crystal. He'd seen one before, only one, and no wonder the feeling was very strong. It was giving him a horrible headache. He pushed forward, forcing himself through it, with Sarabi behind him, helping to push him along. Renathan continued moving forward, and eventually got to the thrumming crystal, merely sitting on a ledge neatly up against the wall. Renathan frowned, and reached out for it. As soon as he picked it up, the thrumming subsided, allowing him to get a moment's reprieve from the horrible headache.

However, the calm moment was short lived; his body seemed to immediately pick up on the relative proximity of the other two crystals. Renathan turned around, wincing, and showed the crystal to the gargoyle. She seemed to be doing immediately much better, and looked at it for a moment before nodding (something she must have picked up from him after all) and turned around. Renathan breathed out, shakily, and slipped the first prismatic crystal into his pouch for crystals. Well, that was one down! He was sure that Jack could use it, or at least that was what he was hoping. She was offering to buy crystals from people, and he was hoping to save her a bit of credits for a while at least. Still, with this many headaches going on, he may have to start selling them at some point to make up for the work. Sarabi lead him away.

Renathan was not sure how much he was going to be able to continue looking for these, but he hoped that sooner or later he would find metals as well. Sure, crystals were a lot better than metals overall, and usually he spent so much time just trying to find one, but his head was hurting so much today that he could hardly even concentrate. As he followed Sarabi back to the mining cart, Renathan opened up his backpack and pulled out a water bottle. He took a good long swig, trying to give himself a brain-freeze from the relative cold to make the headache go away. After finishing the bottle, he felt a bit queasy, and put the now empty bottle put back into the backpack to keep from littering. He finally picked up the mining cart's pulley, and then he and Sarabi began to move forward, towards the next crystal he was sure.

Admittedly, Renathan had to flee when it came to the last trip. His head was killing him, there were just too many crystals. He was a bit shocked that he had found that many, and didn't really want to come back for a while. He didn't feel like continuing to mine that day, and now he really didn't feel like mining again. However, he needed more items to use for his craft, so it was time to get going. He wanted to find at least ten gems today, and perhaps up to twenty? That was the idea. There was another mining challenge going around, and of course Renathan was just super excited about the prospect of that. So between the two reasons, Renathan finally hauled up out of bed and let Sarabi know that they were coming back this month. The mammalian stepped down into the mines looking really down and out of it. Sarabi was right behind him.

Sarabi had been getting very good at finding things, it would seem. She always seemed to know where she was going when it came to this; she was good at finding all the best gems. Renathan, on the other hand, was really just looking for certain ones. He felt like it was just fine to be a bit picky; the other ones could be traded in for goods anyway! Renathan had all of his tools in the mining cart, he just knew that he would need them all today, even though hopefully this trip would be relatively quick. The mammalian had been in a bad mood lately, and wanted to get this done as soon as possible so that he could get home and maybe take care of Shy Guy while he still had the chance to do so. It was so important for him to do so, Shy Guy was not doing so good right now...

There were a ton of things that Renathan needed to do this month, and one of those things was to go to the mansion. He was planning on doing that a bit later on this week, hopefully, if all things went well. Renathan was always so busy! His job was especially keeping him busy, even though he was very good at it. Sarabi was glad, at least, that they were going out mining a bit more often recently, because of his new job, at the very least. Renathan needed lots of metals and lots of gemstones, so it was so important to him. For Sarabi, however, she just liked to be able to traverse the mines, and pick up different gemstones along the way. Sarabi had been getting quite a few more gems for her own nest on these trips, so she was happy enough with the arrangement. She just wished that they could come here more often.

Renathan wanted to make this a quick trip today because he hated using the magic to allow him to move as far away from Auburn as possible. The sever bond that he used each time he did this was a drain on his magic, and made it to where he wouldn't be able to protect himself if he did it. He didn't like this, but it had to be done. Songbirds often died in mines, and he loved Auburn too much to put her in danger like this, even if he didn't plan on putting himself into any danger during the time he was here today. Ah well, it could not be helped. Renathan maneuvered to where Sarabi could walk past him, so that she could lead. She was much better at leading than he was, and much better at finding good veins for minerals and gemstones that he would need to be able to dig out.

Renathan had grown to be very confident in Sarabi's abilities to find them minerals in the mines. At first, he'd been leading and nervous for the most part that she would run off, but now he felt like Sarabi liked him quite a bit, and would not run away. "Sarabi, what do you think about today, huh?" Renathan said. He knew that Sarabi couldn't speak, but these supposedly found out how to understand their owners in other ways. Perhaps he might could begin teaching her some things as he speaks with her? For the most part, the found ways to communicate silently, instead. Renathan had heard that there was a language that some speech-less but intelligent creatures could learn, something to do with hands? Renathan had never heard of it before, but really wanted to learn it eventually! It sounded incredibly useful to do so. They walked down the mine-shaft, wondering what the first bit they were going to find would be.

Suddenly, Sarabi stopped. This close to the surface? Renathan was a little shocked at that, honestly. He tilted his head at her in question, and she simply shrugged. Ah, well, she was picking up his mannerisms it would seem! At least she was quite good at finding gemstones. Who knew what she was stopping for, though? Probably that, it just had to be. Renathan didn't know how to get ready for whatever she needed though, because he had no idea what she was really stopping for. He got a hint when she walked up to the wall, and licked it. Was it a salt deposit? He'd heard of those being down here, but wasn't sure if there were any in this area, of course. The mammalian stepped forward, black tails wrapping around him to keep from being stepped upon. "What do we have here, Sarabi? Salt maybe?" Renathan touched the wall with his fingertips.

Whatever it was on the wall, it did flake off a bit. That was usually a pretty good sign for it being salt. It was a bit clearish and whitish with a yellow-y sheen, from what he could see using his light. He rubbed some between his fingers, and it came away into dust almost, tiny chunks. Renathan put his hand a bit away from his nose and 'wafted' the scent towards his face. He breathed in gently, mostly over his mouth. Ah; yes, that was salt. He was sure. However; that wasn't necessarily a good thing. "Hey Sarabi, do we really know where this salt came from?" He was frowning beneath the mask. He was talkative today, wasn't he? Renathan generally tried not to be while down in the mines because it was technically dangerous, but today he was feeling... Off. Perhaps being more talkative was more of a symptom of that?

"You know Sarabi, I don't think we should lick salt deposits around here, it might have... You know what, I'm a dummy. Even if these are tainted with iron or something of the like, you'll be fine. You eat minerals. Wow." Renathan stared back from whence they came, at the light at the end of the tunnel. He may be seeing it down here in the tunnels, but he didn't feel it much in his every day life, not right now. He kept getting flashes of Shy Guy dead on his feet, trying to move while being crushed. It made him sick. Renathan turned over, away from anything and towards the mouth, and then move to the mouth of the cave, being sick outside of it. He felt... Terrible. Probably looked terrible too; had he brushed his fur this morning? Renathan put a palm to the forehead of his mask, and tried not to think too much.
