Emery had taken her time to make her way to the garden, intent on answering the call for help, but seeing no particular reason to hurry. Caterpillars were not especially quick creatures after all, and if the owner of the garden had the time to write a note for help to post it on the quest board, they probably had time for her to show up as well. Trailing after Emery slowly was Pyrrhos, her baby fire golem and the reason for their slow pace. She did want him to hurry up quite dearly, but the little creature was unfortunately very untrained and was taking his sweet time with getting anywhere. Her only saving grace here was that he had imprinted on Emery after she had adopted him and thus felt the need to be in her vicinity whenever she was around. This was the only way she was getting him to follow her, as any leads or leashes would burn right off. Emery 1 Pyrrhos 0.1/0.1 1 (This is Emery's first completion of this quest.)

The garden was easy enough to find. The address was clearly marked on the flyer that Emery had grabbed from the quest board, and the intention was clear. Sure enough, there were leafy bushes poking over the garden fence, each of them pockmarked with the tell tale signs of a caterpillar infestation. "This is the place, Pyrrhos." She said, opening the gate. There was no difficulty in doing so- it was a simple latch. Apparently nothing in here was valuable enough to be worth stealing, but was valuable enough in sentimental terms to be worth saving from the caterpillars. Pyrrhos slowly plodded in after Emery and she closed the gate again once he was in. His little pinprick eyes, like tiny chunks of coal, scanned the surrounding area. Emery's screen did the same and wow, they had not been kidding about the caterpillar problem. This place was infested with the things.

The caterpillars weren't difficult to spot. They were large, colorful, and hairy- Emery quickly recognized them as being potentially venomous, which was an unfortunate aspect for most people. Luckily however, she had no such qualms. Emery always wore thick gloves, and she doubted the caterpillars' spines would be able to pierce through them. As a result, it was simple for her to simply pluck them off of the bushes and toss them in a sack she had brought with her. The main issue however was the ones that were deeper in the bushes. The ones on the surface were easily snatched off, but she couldn't get in there to take care of the ones that insisted on crawling deeper, and the quest giver was no doubt expecting her to get all of them. Luckily for her, Pyrrhos provided a solution. He toddled dutifully after his master, smoke curling off of his round body.

Like most animals, caterpillars feared fire and fled smoke. As Pyrrhos stood next to Emery, the smoke from his body curled up through the branches of the bushes, sending the caterpillars hiding within them fleeing into the upper branches. Emery was surprised for a moment. "...Good job, Pyrrhos." She said once she realized what was going on. She'd give him a pat on the head, but she didn't want to risk damaging her gloves. Instead she continued pulling off the caterpillars, throwing them into the bag and using her pet as a means to smoke them out of more difficult to reach areas. She made her way around the periphery of the garden like this, nudging Pyrrhos away from anything that looked particularly flammable. After about an hour Emery did her final check, looking under the garden furniture and on the undersides of leaves to pick off any stragglers that had missed the initial sweep.

She did find a couple that got tossed in the sack with the others, but for the most part the bushes were now clean. "Perfect. Well done, Pyrrhos." She said, giving a nod of acknowledgement to her little assistant. He simply blinked at her absentmindedly. With the sack tied off, Emery got out a little notepad and began scribbling in it. Her name, address, and questing card information so they would know who had cleaned out the garden and who the quest points could be allocated to. She quickly tucked it into the window frame of the back door leading into the garden from the apartment, and took one last look around. Satisfied, Emery unlatched the garden gate once more, this time letting Pyrrhos leave first. It was an interesting task to be sure, but one that she had been able to complete with ease- and now she could move on to other tasks.
