Of course most people would not be expecting 'bad things' to happen just because one was trying to get seed pods from a strange plant (even if the plant moved; Pethia was a weird place after all), but Morgan was mostly expecting it. They looked back at the seed pod that they had been holding and watched for just a second as the vine itself wriggled around. Morgan took a breath, and then let it out through their teeth. Slowly, the bespectacled human began to open the seed pod; and that was when all heck broke lose. The seed pod closed up tighter than one would probably expect, the vine twined around Morgan's arm quite quickly and easily, and then suddenly the hard seeds were shot out of the pod with an explosive noise. Luckily, Morgan had practically stopped, dropped, and rolled away- and though the vine twisted around Morgan's arm, the seeds didn't manage to hit them.

Waar had managed to stay away from the seed pod shot by reading Morgan's movements, and then moving away as quickly as possible. It probably wouldn't have had done any damage to him anyway, but he would rather be safe than sorry. His fighting instincts told him to destroy the 'enemy', being the plant, but he looked at Morgan instead, wondering how they would work on this enemy. Morgan had defeated them, and he trusted that the human could take care of theirself as well. He was right to do so, immediately upon gathering what had just happened, Morgan twisted their arm around the vine and pulled on it theirself, keeping it taught from it's roots in the ground so that it couldn't wriggle on them. It began pulling on them, and Morgan allowed it without trying to fight it; Morgan was aware of their physical weakness. Still, Morgan used their boots to anchor them in the sand.

With this newfound hold on the land, Morgan jerked back and then sawed at the vine that was around their wrist, using a speedy movement of pulling it over their hand in a jerk-y motion until the vine was removed. Morgan then removes it from their wrist, noting the bright purple bruise against their pale skin. They winced a bit at a tiny rash-like cut that had formed, and then frowned. So the plant could tell when Morgan was trying to remove the seeds; and it had some sort of ability to throw the seeds out. That was dangerous; that had happened with enough force that it could have easily have hurt Morgan or Waar... Wait, Waar? "Waar, are you okay?" Morgan turned around, looking him over quickly. "It got under my glove a bit and got my wrist, are you okay? Did any of the seeds get you?" Morgan moved forward, running the glove over his flank to check.

Waar appeared to be okay, so Morgan eventually concluded that indeed he didn't get hit by any of the seeds. Morgan watched him quietly for a moment just in case they had missed anything, and then concluded that he should be quite fine. "Goodness, Waar. We've got to be more careful, huh?" Once again, Morgan must have been speaking more for theirself than for Waar. They looked at the bruise that the vine had caused on their wrist; a horrible strangehold. "I don't even know what kind of plant this is; do you think it would still do this outside of the mansion grounds?" It was very possible, of course, but Morgan probably wouldn't be able to know that now. "So, do you think we should give up, or try again, Boyo?" The bespectacled human didn't quite look crestfallen, but they were a bit upset about it.

Waar looked Morgan up and down, as if he was considering something; sniffed at Morgan's wrist and then glared down at the plant with a curious look on his face. He was slowly understanding what was going on here, and what Morgan wanted. Was it some sort of human food item? It had occurred to Waar that he had no idea what Morgan even ate; he'd never seen Morgan eat anything. That was... Odd. He used a single claw to sever the vine from the rest of the plant, and immediately it withered in front of his eyes. Morgan looked at him curiously, wondering why he had done that, before bending down while still keeping an eye on him, and picking up the shriveled plant piece. It was still salvageable, at least, but it would not be transplant-able in this state. Morgan saw a seedpod on the end of it and grinned, pretty widely.

"Woah Waar, you got a piece with a seedpod on it, nice." Morgan immediately removed the seedpod section and kept a bit of the vine so that they could study it. Morgan carefully placed this in a pouch, and then looked out at Waar again. "Thanks buddy." Warm words, how strange. Morgan glanced around, making sure that there wasn't anyone around to witness that, and then glances around. Morgan hadn't really noticed, but now they were really far into the mansion grounds. "Oh, we got kinda far on the mansion grounds, didn't we? The mansion is..." Morgan spun around, looking for the mansion. Where... Was it now? Morgan was sure that it had just been behind them. "I uh, where the heck is the mansion, anyway?" Morgan asked, more curious than worried, and then suddenly dipping more into annoyed than anything else. Waar seemed pretty bored, not at all worried.

Morgan scoffed at him. "Sure, you aren't worried. You can just fly up out of here, but I can't." Morgan wondered why they hadn't thought about the idea that the mansion could probably move around before. They hadn't really stopped to consider that the mansion seemed to do some kind of metamorphosis during each month, and it had to have some kind of mechanism, right? Morgan frowned, stared down at the strange vine-plant, wondering if this had been some sort of trick, suddenly. The mansion didn't make any kind of sense at all, but it couldn't have some kind of sentience. That made no sense at all, but Morgan had the distinct feeling of being watched; not from Waar either, not even from the same direction. The human took a moment to spin around, searching for any sign of the mansion. So far; there was none. They were still on the mansion grounds though, nothing else seemed different.

"Well, it looks like we might be lost. Kinda sucks because I was just thinking it might be time to get us home." Now they couldn't do that, not until they knew for sure that they were on the right way out. Morgan turned towards where they knew that they should be going towards to get back across the little beach and the sandy hillocks toward the salt-marsh that they had found theirselves in at first; but no dice. The salt marsh wasn't just around the second hillock like it had been, and the gates were not behind that salt-marsh hillock. Morgan frowned, thinking, and climbed to the top of the hillock, to look out over the mansion grounds. It wasn't the highest hillock, but it was better to start close, instead of actually going where they didn't know where they were worst. Waar didn't understand what was going on, but he followed dutifully.

Morgan had not meant to be here as long as they had been, or at least how long it felt. They also needed to get the wound that they now had on their wrist fixed up before it got infected or something. Not to mention, but it was pretty itchy; and plants tended to have chemical weaponry in their cells, so it was possible that Morgan could be about to have an allergic reaction. Morgan was not always the best at realizing things before they happened, their intuition was pretty good most of the time, but not always on the spot. Waar seemed oddly interested in Morgan's wrist as well, but that could mean anything. Morgan just noted the itchiness down on the clipboard as they considered doing something or another, and eventually glanced up. Where to go next? It was very important to get out of here, but where was the best bet?

Morgan thought for a good long while, and then finally decided to go toward where the gate was but was no longer. That was the best bet, they figured. "Come on Waar, we're going back to where the gates were a bit ago." Another set of mumbles, but Morgan gently patted him on his muzzle before beginning to walk toward where the gate was. Of course, the gates weren't there, and it was becoming more and more obvious that this end was now part of the larger mansion yard. Had Morgan somehow gotten turned around a bit? "Waar... Did we go to the wrong area?" Morgan was speaking too low for Waar to even hear well enough, even if he had understood it instead of practically going 'oh that thing is making noises again' like he did. "Well, What are we going to do, Waar?" Morgan asked.

Waar heard that one, and by this point he understood his name whenever Morgan said it, but he didn't really understand anything else. He tilted his head curiously, bright green eyes blinking. Morgan just sighed, knowing how ridiculous it probably was that they kept speaking at the sarane even though there was no way he could understand what was being said to him. Morgan just sighed, and glanced around. What were they thinking anyway, standing here on the salt-marsh and sand, staring out over the mansion grounds trying to figure out what was going on properly. So, it made sense, in some way. The mansion had some kind of moving thing, something that helped it move. Heck, for all Morgan knew, someone may be removing the mansion like a giant prop, replacing it with an entirely new one. However, that was quite far-fetched. It made no real sense, altogether, but it might be a simple project of someone's. Perhaps one of the scientists...

That was also a bit of a far-fetched idea as well. "Well, Waar, I don't know a whole ton about this half-baked place, but I know that if we walk in a straight line, that we will eventually get out." That was the idea, anyway. This wasn't like a labyrinth, where it was possible that going along one side infinitely would eventually allow one to get out. However, it was pretty certain that the mansion couldn't exist infinitely in one direction. Sure, the rest of the place was pretty weird, but that had to be the case. It didn't really make any sense altogether. Morgan continued walking, in a straight line, hoping to see the familiar iron bars of the gate that surrounded the mansion grounds. They'd seen it so many times, and under quite a few situations over the past few months. This wasn't at all frightening, just annoying.

Waar was getting more and more annoyed as time went on. His body was getting a bit... Sore, perhaps? He hadn't really been moving quite this much in a long time, and he wanted to lay down and eat something. Not necessarily in that order. However, he understood the need to keep up with Morgan regardless. He could fly now, but he couldn't really take Morgan with them. It was not exciting, doing things like this, but he'd made his mind up. Morgan, on the other hand, just kept walking in a straight line, eventually... Going past the low-tide miniature ocean again? Morgan tilted their head quietly, and then stared at the water for a moment. "Didn't we just go past this earlier?" It was very possible that there was two of those, of these low-tide oceans. Morgan tried looking for any kind of indication that the area might be different than the one earlier.

It was very possible that this was the same one, Morgan thought as they practically glared it down. Of course, glaring at the low-tide beach probably wasn't going to help them out any. However, Morgan was ready to continue on to see if there was anything else that might could help them here. The sand here was odd, soft, pillowy. A little wet, it would seem. Morgan glanced down at their boot, trying to figure out what had made them stop; perhaps the salty spray or the strange scent of petrichor otherwise? The human felt something odd; as if they were being watched from somewhere close. They looked around again, having to look on the other side of Waar when they got past him to check and make sure that they weren't missing anything. It was an odd sensation, and incredibly odd one. Nothing that Morgan could put a finger on, but it felt dangerous.

"I just can't shake this feeling, Waar..." Their voice was light, this time. They were curious, not afraid. They wanted to know what was causing it. For one, they felt a lot more prepared for things since they had swallowed the node. For two, they were literally standing next to a sarane drake from a fighting lineage. Sure, he hadn't been trained to battle yet, but most creatures could hold their own regardless of this. Morgan was more worried that he'd take too many hits than being worried that he couldn't dish any of them out. The human still checked around the area curiously, with Waar following them around dutifully. "It feels like we're being watched. I bet you don't feel it though... I really needed to have worked with you on that first, instead of the less important stuff." Then again, the behaviors they had worked on were pretty important.
