Whoa! The Sarane running around had thrown Ashe off a little bit. He was this close to chasing after it to help the woman out, when it came wandering back on its own. It must be trained well enough, he thought. He wasn't quite suspicious enough to think they'd planned this out to do in front of people no matter how flat it sounded, but the Drake seemed properly cared for and socialized. He did reach out to pet it, though, before he returned to the quest board. Indeed, there was a new quest up, and this one was right up his alley. A training quest! He could do that! And then he re-read what kind of creature he had to train and gave a slight frown. Nothing wrong with a Lamadidron, he supposed. He had just never trained one before. They hadn't appealed to him since they weren't huge beasts ready to destroy buildings. He supposed he'd get the chance to try it out now. Skip ahead about twenty minutes and Ashe was at the park with his training gear, and Inyala on his shoulder. He had the Lamadidron with him, and a sturdy chain collar and leash in case things went wrong. Inyala peered at the strange new creature from her perch, and it peered back at her with a kindly face. "So you like to chew on couches, huh?" Ashe asked it, standing with his hands on his hips. Inyala: 0 1/5 Ashe: 0 1/10

Ashe thought that maybe he would start out with teaching this beast not to bite things. He didn't have a couch on hand to just bring out to the park, so he decided to try other things. Get the command down, then the owner could use the command herself and it would listen to her. So Ashe had a series of toys and things (like a radio, a ball, a stuffed toy, a book, bags of treats) at the ready. He picked up one of the treat bags and approached. This would be the easiest way to get started, and the easiest way to keep its attention. He cleared his throat to get it to look up at the sound, then he held out a little gemstone treat he heard these things liked. The Lama looked up eagerly and, quick as a dart, the head snaked forward and grabbed the treat- and one of Ashe's fingers. Inyala squawked indignantly as her master was wounded.
"Uh-uh!" Ashe said loudly, giving it a flick on the nose. "Uh-uh, bad!" Unfortunately, he'd lost the treat, so the stupid thing probably thought it was doing a good job. He tried again, this time having a firm grip on the little stone, his bitten finger pulsing slightly but he ignored it.

"Gently," He urged. The lama lashed out again, but Ashe was ready this time. He pulled back his hand, treat in tact, and said, "Uh-uh!" He repeated the call for gently, and held out his hand again. "Gently," he said again, bracing himself and watching the Lama. It reached for the treat again, and Ashe saw fang, so again he pulled it back. He didn't want to be accused of teasing it or getting it frustrated, but he felt this was necessary.
Ashe held the treat out again and watched the Lama for its reaction. Inyala leaned forward, watching to see what it would do and hoping it wouldn't attack again. She was ready to set it on fire if she needed to! But the Lama inched closer, not liking this game and wanting the treat now that it had had the taste of one already. Slowly... Slowly...
"Uh," Ashe said, using just half of the command, urging it to think before biting. Didn't work. The lama snaked its head forward after moving slowly for a bit, and tried to nip Ashe's fingers in its haste. "Uh-UH!" Ashe scolded, giving the muzzle a flick again and pulling the treat back. "You'll get this when you can take it nicely!" He said with a sigh. "It'll go quicker for both of us if you just be nice."

It took Ashe a little while longer to get the first success. By then, the Lama had expected Ashe to pull the treat away no matter what, and Ashe had proven that he was actually faster than the Lama's reaction speed, so it was a losing battle. The lama therefore moved slowly, eyeing Ashe, waiting for him to take it away. He didn't, not yet, waiting. He occasionally said "Uh..." Trying to remind the Lama to stop doing what it had been doing when it got a flick on the nose, trying to promote a different approach.
Still obviously expecting to have the treat taken away from it and not wanting to seem foolish again, the Lama slowly opened its mouth and acted like it was going to eat the treat. Still, Ashe did not move away. And then the Lama's mouth closed on the treat - just the treat - and Ashe pulled his hand back. "Good Lama!" Ashe praised, excited for it. "Good Lama!" He didn't know its name or its' gender - how do you tell, anyway? He doubted it would let him roll it over and check for a gemstone penis - so Lama it was for now. Ashe patted it on the head, startling it. It was still confused about why it got the treat and Ashe didn't pull it back.
Inyala clapped her hands together, proud of her master and cheering him on. That was also one less Lama that had to get torched today!

Ashe and the Lama practiced with the treats a few more times, with Ashe starting to use the clicker each time the Lama took it nicely. About six or seven treats later, each given with a click from the hand held device, the Lama seemed to be understanding. It was taking the treat gently without biting, and not being shocked when Ashe praised and petted it. Onto the next obstacle! Ashe set the toys and items in front of the Lama and let it sniff around. He had a mix of items that were chewable, like the toys, and items that shouldn't be chewed on, like the book. The Lama sniffed around at each thing, and actually seemed to go for the book first... The binding must have reminded it of the wooden arm of the couch maybe? It picked it up in its mouth and bit it. Inyala frowned, knowing it had just made the wrong decision. Shame!
"Uh-uh!" Ashe said quickly, firmly. The Lama looked at him, confused because he didn't bite any fingers getting a treat this time. "Uh-uh! Drop it!" Ashe said again. He grabbed a corner of the book, and the Lama tried to play keep away with it. "Uh-uh!" He said again, eventually wrestling the book away from him. He provided the Lama with a stuffed toy and clicked the clicker, holding it to the Lama's face. It didn't seem interested in the toy and looked for the book, but Ashe just held up the toy.

The Lama sniffed at the book, which Ashe hadn't removed the temptation of because the point was to avoid the temptation, not remove it. The lady wasn't going to get the couch out of her house, after all. He just waved the toy in the Lama's face, and clicked the clicker every so often for emphasis. But every time the gem beast looked at the book, the clicker remained silent and Ashe said, "Uh-uh!" Stuffed toy, good. Book and other things like that, bad. It took a short while of convincing, but it eventually, slowly, took the toy in its mouth instead. Ashe clicked and Inyala hopped down to hand over a treat, helpful as always. "Good Lama!" He praised it, and Inyala echoed the sentiment.
Ashe did this again, and once more, until he was pleased with the reaction time. Anytime the Lama looked at the book, it got the command, and every time it took the toy, it got the clicker and praise. It seemed to be catching on.
"Let's see... Next, your owner wants you to learn how to use that tail of yours," Ashe told it. Unsure of its intelligence, he still talked anyway, it made him feel better and probably helped the strange creature get used to Ashe's voice.

This part might be easier, depending upon the Lama itself and if it liked this game. Ashe took it over to a tree, figuring this would be the best spot to try it on. Inyala scurried over to the tree and climbed up a little ways, carrying the treat bag. Without really communicating, Ashe and Inyala worked in tandem, each knowing their role. The goal was to get the Lama to whack the tree with its tail, so when it did a good job, Inyala would drop a treat down for it.
"Alright, the game plan is simple," Ashe was saying to the Lamadidron. Ashe moved around to position the creature close to the tree, then he picked up the thing's tail. At first, it didn't like that at all and moved out of the way, dragging its tail with it. Ashe murmured to the creature and tried to get it to calm down, giving a few clicks whenever it let him touch it, especially to handle its tail. Doing her part, Inyala dropped a couple of treats down to get it to hold still for Ashe. Then the man picked up the tail and touched it to the tree. "Strike!" He said. He did this probably ten times, as long as the Lama allowed it. "Strike!" He touched the tail to the tree. "Strike! Like this."

Once he'd done that so many times, he let the tail go and tapped the tree where he wanted the Lama to hit. "Strike!" He told him, gesturing. This part took a little more prodding, and Ashe was getting frustrated. Inyala tried a couple of treats but that didn't work. Eventually, Ashe got the Lama to lift its tail and attempt to hit the tree, and he was quick to praise that. A click and a treat, and then the command again while the praise was still fresh. It worked, the Lama touched the tree with the tail again, and Ashe quickly rewarded it. Again, and a fourth time, the command came, and the touches happened. Treats rained down each time from Inyala, and the Lama nibbled them up from the ground.
"Alright, now that we have that down finally!" Ashe was ready for a break but he had to finish this. "I need you to hit it harder!" He gave the command again, and when the Lama did it, he said it again, with more energy. If he could rile this big guy up, get him ready to really hit something, and up its own energy, he was pretty sure they could do this.

At first, the Lama was just confused and it stood there, wondering why it wasn't getting rewarded. The human was getting excited, and not angry, but no treats or clicks were coming. It watched, worried, trying to figure out what it did wrong. For assistance, it even looked up into the branches to see if the little blue person had any clues. Inyala was impassive, though, and offered no help. It looked back at Ashe, who was still saying "Strike!" and gesturing at the tree. The Lamadidron touched the tree again, trying what Ashe wanted, but still no treat. No scolding, but no treat. Why? It had worked before! Again and again... The Lama was getting frustrated! It arched its neck, glaring at the human, feeling like it was reaching a breaking point. It didn't like being confused and not knowing what was expected of it - who would? So the next time Ashe tried it, all that energy pumping him up, all that rage... The Lama finally let loose.
Thankfully, instead of attacking Ashe, it attacked the tree. The huge tail swept up and lashed out, striking the tree with all of its pent up rage. The tree shook a bit, and Inyala chirped happily, dropping a couple of treats down for the beast.

"Good job! Yes, exactly, just like that!" Ashe cheered and praised and clicked. The Lama ate the treats before either of them could change their minds and looked in wonder at Ashe, and the little blue person in the tree. It was pretty amazed that it finally understood what Ashe wanted. "Strike!" Ashe said again, not wasting much time. The Lama clued in quicker and hit the tree hard, earning praise and clicks and a few treats. And again, and again. Inyala was starting to think it was going to knock the tree down, it was hitting it so hard!
Ashe took the time to praise and pat with every success, and the Lama was taking this positive energy and turning it into its own energy, and using that to whack the tree. The tree wasn't going to stand a chance! With each powerful strike, Ashe was more and more certain that the Lama was understanding the command and performing perfectly each time. Slowly, he weaned it off the treats and instead just gave pats and clicks. "Your owner is going to be so pleased with you, Lama," Ashe told it, scratching under its chin. It seemed to really like that. Since they were done, he called Inyala back down from the tree and she hopped up on his shoulder.
