Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the June 18th. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

A frustrated Caiman woke up not long after the match ended; healed and (again) in the cage built to withstand wild sarane. Ok, not so much a cage, but a stable. He hated to lose. He could sense the theron's worry as she sat against the stable's wall, smelled but not seen. Her worry rebounded with frustration, but unhurt. Or not hurt anymore. He had another creature to add to his blacklist; to subject to his wind-assisted wrath. She agreed with him, with a warning feeling of the massive monster of a monochrome grass eater being a very difficult opponent even for bigger creatures then himself. But he smelled the same scent on the gug that he did on those sarane he'd faced in the past! Yes, this was true, she told him. The gug's trainer had several, and closed the subject. She seemed a bit sore herself. When the next letter arrived (delivered by hand since she was in the stable already), the envelope had unusual striping. Were they facing a tiger then? Ridelys hadn't seen a tiger before. Just creatures with tiger markings. They'd find out, as the gate opened. 4.5 15.20

“No, I’ve earned this!” Scarlet demanded through the ribbon they shared. Her tails swished irritably in unison as she waited for the opening of the arena to let her have a second chance at victory.
“I don’t like it.” Riku said. “I know you’ve worked for this, but we haven’t done nearly enough training. This was a bad idea.” He knew he couldn’t change her mind. She was a very proud Malii, the strongest he had ever fostered...and she didn’t even know what she was capable of yet. If she was anywhere as enigmatic as her genetic-father, she would be a force to be reckoned with.
“I can do this. We’re already here...” she argued, recognizing he was right. She had arrived the first day having already won the tournament in her mind....now she wasn’t so sure.
She could easily take on any of the other Malii in the kennel; and being Riku’s favorite little valkyrie, she was the most trained. She could do things the others simply couldn’t or didn’t know how to - almost like magic, sometimes. Like whenever she needed, the Heavens would split open to her aid.
.....but..it was a harsh defeat right at the start.
Of course, she was healed. She’ll be fine, and it bruised her ego more than it did her body, which isn’t as easily healed. If she was honest with herself, she no longer knew she could win this tournament.........but she didn’t want to be honest. No, she needed to still believe she had already won; just prove it to everyone else!
“Besides,” she continued as the gate opened and she entered the ring “that was a dragon! I don’t mind losing. Now I can tell Cameron and Darakou I fought a dragon. It was a noble defeat. An epic battle! I’m sure there aren’t any other dragons in the tournament.”
It was a lie, though. She couldn’t stand losing! She felt like she had trained hard enough to at least have a ‘noble defeat’, but it really wasn’t. She was struck unconscious out of the air before she could even properly get off the ground. That came as a shock - literally! As a result, Riku had kept her from her second battle. She had been healed properly, but the sight of his precious angel really got to him.
What did it mean to die in this great city...? Healing was just as common as bandaids elsewhere, and true-death was only for the poor or very unfortunate. Still, the fear was etched into being alive.
He knew he couldn’t change his Malii’s mind, and he respected her too much to treat her like property that he owned. This was something she was choosing for herself at this point, and all he could do as a trainer, friend, and father-like figure was support her from the stands. All would be well. Healers, he reminded himself, Healers will make sure of that...
Riku found a seat that wasn’t too crowded and cautiously sat down. Public places always made him feel like he needed to wash his hands...he watched the gate open and said “I wouldn’t be too sure of that.” thinking back to how many dragons he saw in the Sarane tournaments. He knew they were out there and ready for battle. Why not enter them into a non-Sarane tourney? He knew he would if he had spent all that time training them.

As Scarlet entered the arena, the two of them saw what entered at the other end. A dragon. A different shape, but just as fearsome in appearance. It looked as if it could knock her out in one swipe of its claws.
She hesitated to enter as soon as she saw it, but the gate closed behind her before she could change her mind...not that she would. She looked up at Riku in the stands and sent a sort of unworded expression through their ribbon that meant something along the lines of “Shit, you were right, but I can’t admit that! Another dragon!? This thing is huge. What do I do!?”
Riku gave a wincing look back at her and shrugged as if to say “What can we do? You’re already in there...guess we’ll just figure it out as we go.”
Studying the Sarane, he could tell it was a first generation brown. Not typically something to fear - but this one looked like it had plenty of battle experience. Sighing, he tried to form a plan.
“We don’t know what this thing is capable of. It could breathe fire for all we know. And it looks tougher than the ordinary brown Sarane, so it’s probably trained to be stronger or more resilient than usual. Can you see if it’s wearing any jewelry...?” He asked in a rushed tone.
Circling the beast, Scarlet studied its body. “I see something shiny on it that doesn’t look natural. I think it has a green part, but I can't get a good enough look.” She kept her eyes fixed on the dragon as she telepathically spoke.
“Okay, well....that’s probably an agility piece. They’re common here.” He put his thumb over his lips and chewed on it a bit. “It magically makes him a bit faster, so be careful of that.”
“Why don’t I have one of those!?” Scarlet snarked. She was in a tough spot and sort of wanted a reason to blame someone other than himself. She readied her wings so she could flee if she needed to lat second.
“They’re not so easy to obtain, but maybe I’ll look into it after this tournament. I’m sorry that I hadn’t thought of it sooner.....I guess we both overestimated ourselves.” He knew that they were running out of time. That Sarane would make its move any second. They had to get some sort of advantage in speed in order to avoid those horns and claws. He knew Scarlet would have to hit it a few times to get it out - but it would only need one to pin her to the ground for good.
“First thing’s first, Scarlet.” He began in his commanding voice. “We need to get our speed advantage back! So fly!” He tried to keep him thoughts to himself and out of his hand expressions. That wasn’t the easiest task for him.
The Malii quickly spread her already raised wings and beat them down quickly, giving her that familiar weightless feeling. With another fast flap of her large wings she pulled herself into the air and created some distance between them.

When the opponent's gate opened... out came... a fox. A five tailed, winged fox. Neither theron nor hurricane drake had ever seen such an absurd sight; but the humanoid who accompanied the creature she recognized briefly. Briefly for having a single brown to his name from the tournaments of sarane previous. However, this one appeared, by posture alone, here to fight. {I've killed and eaten creatures bigger then that.} Caiman grumbled, giving the small creature a stinkeye glower. With one squinty eye already, he held an especially menacing glare. Be afraid. Run away. Fly away so I can catch you and eat you. 'I can't let you eat the other opponent, and they won't let you either.' Ridelys warned him. She told him what she had in mind. Granted, neither of them had the experiences of fighting such a small and nimble creature such as the flying fox. But they fox was taking flight. 'So we shall do the same.' {And then?} The drake would join the fox in the air. Who would dance to the tune of the wind. -fly- 5.5 109/65 16.20

The air in the pit wasn't what it could be. It wasn't effected by the summer thermals that made soaring so easy for anything that lived on its wings. Aided by the wind, it only took a few powerful wingbeats to bring himself up into being airborne. Angling his body into a circular motion, similar to a vulture, the brown drake watched the other creature ...get into the air. He'd seen feathered things flap and flap and flap to get into the air; it looked difficult to do, even being so small. Well, he was in the air now. The question was, how to deal with this nimble little thing. 'Its small. How about playing with her a bit. Wrathful playing.' Playing? Oh yes... yes this sounded like a fine idea. The fox thing may be nimble, but not able to resist the wind for long. Caiman fixed his quarry below with a piercing stare. Below, the air pressure gets jolty. Like trying to fly in a direction, and being sucked backwards. Pulled another direction. It would be difficult to fight, as the wind appears to be fighting allowing flight. {Down} Would it work. - Air's Wrath- 1.5 17.20

Seeing the dragon lift off after her, Scarlet began to panic. “What do I do!?” she begged. She flapped and flapped her wings as fast and hard as she could. She had to get some speed advantage over this thing - but she knew she didn’t have the endurance to keep that up. She needed to knock it out fast.
“Dodge him if he gets close. Avoid the claws and horns, he’s strong!” Riku called out, sending it through the ribbon as well as out loud. He didn't mean to let that one slip, vocally, but he was too tense to hold it back. He gripped the bar on the ledge, his fingertips growing numb unnoticed.
“That’s pretty obvious! Are you going to tell me to keep breathing next!?” She snarked, turning sharply to throw Caiman off. Of course it didn’t work, but she was trying everything she could think of.
Thinking for a second, Riku changed paces. “You’re not going to out-speed him. That’s clear now. You’re no match in strength or stamina, and we can’t just keep flying all day. You need to use offensive skills to knock him out before he....well, just focus on that.”
“What am I supposed to do? Scratch it?” She asked.
“No, keep your distance! Use something ranged. Sun spot!” He ordered through the ribbon.
Scarlet quickly turned herself around to face the dragon, her eyes glowing brightly. By sheer will - within a few seconds - she ordered the light around the dragon to condense into a tangible heat source.

Surprisingly nimble in the air, the fox appeared less affected... 'thats a butterfly'. What. Caiman squinted a bit below him. Flattened to the wall indeed was a moth. Butterfly. Winged insect. He'd completely missed the fox, somehow? He growls at the blunder; but there was no blame. Just bad aim. 'We all miss sometimes; don't stick on that.' she warns below. Did his partner believe he was that rusty in a fight? Her reply came in a stormy snarl that could send a shiver down a lesser being's spine. However years of being together may or may not have hardened Ridelys against Caiman's intimidation act. He had the most experience of her clan of sarane... was it right to call them a clan? Only two were related. He was going to pick his own choice of attack this time. As much as the fox annoyed him by its nimbleness and quickness, he'd simply blow it out of the air.
