After about half an hour, Algol finally came back down. He seemed to be in a much better mood, and Fiera took a few minutes to play with him as he ran around the field. She couldn't help herself- he was acting like a whelp again, if just for a little bit. It was nice to see that he was feeling more like himself after the breaking, considering how grumpy he had been with her since. Now that he had had the opportunity to let off some steam however, Fiera figured that it would be best to get back to training. First things first: she wanted to teach him how to roar. It was a classic move in the battlefield, allowing him to intimidate enemies into silence. Being a tier three drake, intimidation came to him more naturally than most, so the humanish was hoping that this move wouldn't be too hard to teach.

First things first, she needed to get him to make a noise. She knew this could be done in one of two ways. One was if she managed to make him so angry he growled at her, and the other was when he was in such a good mood that he growled playfully instead. Obviously, she didn't want to go for the first one. She had JUST managed to get Algol in a good mood again, and she didn't want to ruin it just to teach him a new move. Rebuilding their relationship had been shaky to say the least, and it wasn't worth it to ruin it now. So she'd try the 'being nice and playful' way first and see how it went. And for that... she'd need something to play with. With that in mind, she got out another chunk of meat, a treat to tempt him with.

She held it tight and moved it around in front of his face. His eyes immediately widened at the sight of it, and he fell down into... well. She was used to calling that position a 'play bow' with her houluh, but she had the feeling that on a sarane, he really meant it in a predatory fashion and for a moment she remembered what a fearsome creature she was actually dealing with here. Still, she couldn't afford to let herself be intimidated. "Algol, you want it?" She said, playing with him. His head flicked back and forth as she waved it about, and soon a playful growl emanated from his throat as if to say "Yes, I want it!". Of course, that was what she actually wanted him to do. "Good job! Good roar, Algol!" She said, and tossed it to him. It was a good first try for this!

With that in mind, she tried it a couple more times until he seemed pretty set in knowing that the word 'roar' meant that he needed to make a noise. But she didn't need him to JUST make a noise- she needed that deep, brassy roar that sarane were so well known for. With that in mind, she gave the order one more time. "Algol, roar!" She said, giving the order multiple times in a row until he let out a much louder noise than usual, most likely out of frustration. "Yes! Good job Algol, good roar!" She said- and tossed him twice the amount of meat as usual. He seemed confused... but pleased. Did more noise mean more meat? He eyed Fiera carefully, as if he couldn't wait to find out. Fiera gave him a sly smile and once he was done with the treats, she gave the order again.

This time, he seemed to get the picture- and roared a LOT louder than before. Fiera found herself clapping her hands over her ears to avoid getting them blown out, but did it all with a grin on her face. Yeah, that would do. "Great job, Algol!" She said, and tossed him even more treats. A few more repetitions, and Algol was roaring consistently loud and probably scaring the feathers off of all the birds in the public park in a five mile radius. Fiera didn't care about them though- she was just happy that her sarane was getting the idea. After their final repetition, Algol was left panting and tired, his throat no doubt hurting. She gave him a loving scritch about the ear and turned away, checking that move off their list. Their training was going swimmingly, and now he only had one more move left to learn today.

And that move was rend. Easy peasy! All Fiera needed Algol to do was learn how to slash things with his claws, and to slash them deep. She had taught this to several of her pets already, and it had never proven to be a problem. Thankfully most of her predatory pets had a vicious streak already, they just needed to be guided to use it in a more constructive fashion... or deconstructive, as it were. Algol would likely prove to be no different, considering how violent he had been to her during his breaking. Teaching him to slash a log or whatever? It would be childs' play by comparison. She had specifically left this one until last too, knowing how it would be an easy denouement for their training session today. Without further ado, she went over to her bag and got the necessary materials ready so they could begin.

Once she had the treat cooler out and ready, Fiera wandered briefly into the nearby woods. It usually wasn't too much trouble to find a 'victim' for teaching rend, and today proved no different. Within a few minutes she returned to Algol and her bag, dragging a large log behind her. It was thick and mostly unrotted, making it an excellent subject for being slashed through. She dropped it in front of Algol and the sarane sniffed at it in a disinterested manner before looking at her as if to say "That's it?" The second she popped open the cooler and got out a slice of meat for him however, his demeanor changed instantly. She smirked and followed up with "Yeah, I thought so." Then she walked forward and gently took one of Algol's feet, quietly glad that she had taught him to accept and tolerate such manipulations of his body.

Then, she gently scraped it across the surface of the log while saying "Rend, Algol.". It didn't do any damage at all- the bark didn't even chip off. Still, she tossed Algol a small chunk of meat. "Good rend, Algol!" She chirped. The sarane was happy to accept the treat, but looked awkwardly at the log. Then, she pointed at it again. "Okay Algol- rend!" She said. He looked at her and then at her pointing finger, still swallowing the last of the scrap she had given him. Then he gently lifted a foreclaw and slapped at the log a bit before looking at her for a approval. She smirked- not the most damaging attempt at an attack, but it would do. "Good job, Algol!" She said, and then upped the ante- she gave him two pieces of meat for doing it on his own. Hopefully like that, she could keep upping the amount of treat given.

Then as she increased the amount of treats, he would increase the amount of effort put in. In theory, at least- he was a stubborn beast after all. When Algol was done eating those pieces though, she decided to test that theory. "Algol, rend!" She said again, pointing at the log once more. He seemed a bit more sure of himself this time now that he had followed the command at least once, and put a bit more zest into his strike this time. He actually managed to cleave off a bit of bark this time, sending it flying off to goodness knew where in the field beyond. Fiera's eyebrows raised and the corners of her mouth quirked up. "Good rend, Algol!" She said while clapping, and then tossed him three whole chunks of meat as a reward. He happily caught them as his owner threw them to him, clearly enjoying the exercise.

Once he was done eating, she stood back and gave it another go, pointing at the log like the commander of men she once was. "Algol, rend!" She barked, and the sarane went at it eagerly, this time putting a deep gouge in the wood. The pale flesh of the tree showed through the dark bark, and Fiera couldn't help but be impressed. Still, she felt like they could push it a little further. She gave Algol his requisite treats and then stood back (hopefully) one last time. "Go on Algol, you can do it! Rend!" She said, pointing as hard as she could at the log. He screeched victoriously and lashed out. A massive chunk of the log flew off, and Fiera had to duck as it whizzed right by her head. After she recovered she decided that yes, Algol definitely understood the command 'rend' well enough. With that in mind, they were probably done for the day. She hooked him back to his lead, and she took her well exercised and well educated sarane home.

Fiera had come to the public park with Alice, another one of her harachiu. They were quite a pair together- the finely aged humanish with the pale fairy. She was quite a pretty creature, with pale skin, charcoal hair, and dark purple clothing. Fiera hadn't spent much time with her before, admittedly. Most of her time working with her harachiu had been with Amber, Alice's twin sister, or Desiree, Fiera's pixie harachiu. Fiera had had a bit of a tough time with Amber, who had been rather cold and reserved to her, but the humanish had chalked it up to a natural distrust of a stranger... which Fiera was, despite owning them. After all, they had spent their whole lives together and only what, a few months with her? She could see why they would feel distrust toward her. Still, she was hoping that Alice would be a little more open. Fiera 1 Alice 13.1/0.1 Tolerance 1

After all, while Amber had a more quiet and stern personality, Alice was a little looser. Not by too much, but it was there. She hadn't fought Fiera coming here at the very least unlike Icarus, her issen harachiu. Before they got started on any real tricks though, Fiera just wanted her to get more comfortable with the humanish's presence and touch. After all, if she was going to start taking Alice and the other harachiu out more often, she'd need them to trust her. If she had to reach out and grab one to protect them, she really didn't need them wiggling out of her grasp at the last second. With that in mind, Fiera got out some berries and set them aside. If there was one thing that harachiu liked, it was fresh fruit. Blueberries were thankfully in season right now though, so Fiera had a lot to go around.

With that in mind, Fiera started gently touching Alice. Nothing too hard- just a gentle pat on the back, followed by a few strokes on her head. (Moving carefully so as to not mess up her hair, which the harachiu quickly checked to make sure her bun was still in place.) Alice gave her a weird look, but Fiera handed her a berry to console her. "Good job!" She followed up with, giving her a smile and a thumbs up as well. The harachiu looked at her suspiciously, but still took the berry and ate it. The second the sweet juices touched her tongue though, Alice started wolfing it down as if she had been starving for weeks. Fiera chuckled- she guessed it must be really good. Once Alice was done though, Fiera reached out to try touching her again, this time getting a bit more invasive with her touches.

She lifted the harachiu's arm and stopped when she pulled it away, but tried again a moment afterward, before repeating the process on the other arm. Alice was sitting as well, so Fiera tried it with some of her legs. The fairy looked at her like she was insane, but Fiera simply gave her praise and another berry. Fiera could definitely understand why it looked like there was no rhyme or reason to this. Still, one obviously couldn't predict when an emergency would occur, so it was best to get Alice used to Fiera touching her now. From there, Fiera moved on to touching Alice's wings, which was a lot more unacceptable to the harachiu, resulting in her pulling away a few times until Fiera could calm her down enough to grip them gently and let go. All the while, Fiera kept rewarding Alice's good behavior with a steady stream of berries.

After a few minutes of that, Fiera had successfully gotten Alice to accept the humanish playing with and examining her limbs (which would be good for medical appointments as well). It was time for the 'final test' as Fiera had been calling it in her mind. She gave Alice one more berry for the road, letting her chew on it... and the picked her up, lifting the harachiu with one hand. Her fingers curled loosely around her ribcage, propping her up under the armpits. To her relief though, Alice didn't seem that upset at the sudden intrusion of her personal space or the fact that she was now about five feet up in the air. She just quirked an eyebrow at Fiera and took another bite out of the blueberry she had been given. Fiera chuckled and lowered her back down. "Alright, cool. Thanks, Alice." She said, and sat back down. That had been surprisingly painless.
