The Vernal Herbarium

The metal doors recognized the body of a living creature, and gave a mechanical "beep" as they slid open on their own accord. The shiny linoleum down this corridor seems to have lost most of it's pale-green shine, so you can no longer see your own reflection upon the floor. You may follow the signs (or even the complimentary map from the front desk) that would lead you down the florescent-lit hallways toward the renewed "Vernal Herbarium", where Botanics enhancements and replacements are possible.
The farther down towards the Herbarium you head, however, the more things seem to look new and shiny, as if freshly installed. The soft, pleasant ambient light along the corridors, the pure white walls out of something looking almost plastic but is likely far more advanced at that, seeming to have a thin wire mesh running through it if one were to poke their nose close enough to inspect.
The air becomes warmer and more humid as finally a set of doors ahead, pure-white like the walls but with a teal green streak running through them open with a soft ‘ffsh’. Immediately the scent of loam and fragrant flowers fills your nostrils. The corridor runs ahead, into twists and turns and rooms unknown. In various places along the walls the elements of green paint seem to instead be actual plants built into or growing out of specific alcoves and vertical greenhouses. Does the air here feel.. Fresher? To your immediate left is an open room with bright sunlight shining in through a sky window, an eponymous ‘herbarium’ filled with lumpy ground thickly covered in fluffy, soft, green moss. Pieces of stumps stick out from here and there.
*Creaaak*.
You almost flinch as the tree stump suddenly moves, a massive wood-plated head rising and a bright pink eye scanning you up and down. The creature sniffs at you a few times, snorts loudly, then turns its head to give a soft bellow towards the hallways.
A minute passes before light footsteps approach, a botanist assistant hurrying down the hallway, clipboard in hand to meet you.
“Ah! My apologies for keeping you waiting. I see Willow has already seen fit to introduce herself to you,” the botanist beams, bright white teeth made all the brighter by the full green eyes against honey skin and teal hair. The uniform, too, seems standard stark white with green accents, if not for the curse of botanists all over the world - a few dark smudges of dirt here and there from her interrupted field work. “I’m afraid the lead botanist is currently busy, but I am able to take your order. Please, take a seat,” she gestures towards a reception table and the chair in front of it, before taking her seat on the opposite side.
“So, then. How may the Vernal Herbarium improve your day, today?” the smile seems as beaming as the sunlight shining down from the windows above.
