The Farm at 1583

If she's totally honest with herself, Kheisa got and trained Daedal in the hopes of emotionally replacing her "heart" pet, Blacky. Unfortunately, Chelcaudi and Vultici are completely different, and as much as she poured her heart and soul into bonding with and training Dae, she never quite got attached to him in the same way. The same can't be said for him though; Daedal, though an ordinarily calm and collected Chelcauda (due to his adaptation for northern living), is extremely protective of Kheisa, and will get quite aggressive in her defense. He's a fantastic reassurance if she feels unsafe, but the aggression still scares her sometimes, even if she's reasonably (~85%) certain it won't be directed towards her or anyone she cares about.

Daedal is quite too large to fit in the house, so he mostly roams around freely outside, with his protectiveness over Kheisa keeping him on the property. There are a couple of lean-tos for him to shelter under, and he doesn't like anything more confining, so he sleeps in the one off the side of the house.

Taro, little fist-sized glowing floating ball of mist that it is, is always by Kheisa's side, sharing in her experiences and feelings from joy to anger to sadness. She finds it a bit hard to discern its personality because of its lack of most expression, but thinks it must be curious and slightly playful, as it's always repositioning itself around her to better see what she's doing or looking at, and it sometimes seems to be messing with her.

Cherry is just as omnipresent in Kheisa's life as Taro is, but a lot more interactive with the environment. Whereas Taro mostly seems content to be with Kheisa and share her life, Cherry wants not only to be part of Kheisa's life, but wants Kheisa's life to be exciting so she can have an exciting life too! She gets bored easily and needs a lot of mental stimulation, so she tends to yo-yo from Kheisa's shoulder to a nearby place back to Kheisa's shoulder again while she goes about her business.

Drennan is an eternally young PHIL with an entirely un-PHIL-like personality. He's a timid little fellow that needs encouragement for the smallest things, and though he tries to be affectionate, he truly has no idea how strong he is, so it's very easy for him to accidentally injure someone or break something when he gets excited. He sleeps in the crib in a nest of blankets and pillows and pet beds, which Kheisa has to help him into every night (otherwise he'll break it climbing in on his own), because he has nightmares and comes scratching through the door at night when he sleeps anywhere else.

Kheisa rescued Blacky as a juvenile from a neglectful owner that had put a collar on him and then left him outside as he grew. The collar, obviously, did not grow with him, and instead had become embedded in his neck, requiring surgery to remove. Blacky's weird upbringing and subsequent rescue made him relatively un-Cavelike in behavior, and he ended up more on the simple 'gentle giant' side of things. Blacky was Kheisa's "heart pet," and though they were never soul bound in any "true" way, his death severely affected her and she has never quite gotten over it.

Joanna loooooves water, even though she can't get wet without getting sick. She's always trying to get into the bathroom, and Kheisa's given up on keeping her out at this point. She sleeps in a makeshift nest in the bathtub, and is always trying to get the safety lock off the tub faucet... And the sink faucets... Really any faucet. Sometimes she leaves the bathroom to play in other parts of the house, but she always comes back, especially to try and squeeze into the shower with Kheisa (even when Kheisa, inevitably, successfully removes her, she can enjoy the steam and humidity from elsewhere in the bathroom).

Soko is a great all-around barn animal; when he's home he acts as a livestock guardian, and he's large enough that he can be ridden as a mount himself (though he hasn't been trained as such yet). He's a driven and curious animal who can't get enough of the smells of the world, and who is much more likely to run towards a new and scary thing than run away from it.

Jon always seems to let others go first, whether that's eating food, going through a doorway, or getting petted. Some would call this "submissive," but Kheisa prefers to think of him as gentlemanly and polite. He seems to know how pretty he is, and likes to flick his mane and tail and prance around for attention.

Hurricane certainly lives up to his name. He's a very active and bold Equillion, always the first to arrive to any disturbance, and tries to destroy anything he decides he doesn't like. (Since he's an Equillion, sometimes this seems particularly random, like a coat hung up in the barn or his water trough if it looks at him funny.) He's a wild child, and though Kheisa aims to someday be able to train and ride him, that day looks to be a long way off.

Dame is new to the barn, and Kheisa doesn't know much about her except that she's adorably small and the boys seem to like her. She seems to prefer Jon to Hurricane.

Sumira and Kora are half-siblings who share the same father. Sumira's mother was a Summer Chiryma (now deceased), and Kora's was a Powdersnow Chiryma. In spite of their slight difference in age (Sumira is a bit older), they've been together their whole lives, and are virtually inseparable. Because Sumira can breathe fire, she tends to be the bolder sibling; Kora is more quiet and shy.

Strawberry was the bossiest baby in the herd and grew up to be the bossiest adult, too, even though she's the second smallest. She's always the one to break up squabbles between her herdmates, and usually the other Murps defer to her in all things, including herd movement - if Strawberry isn't moving, the herd isn't moving. She's not a particularly sweet Murp, but she's a very responsible lead cow for the herd, so Kheisa's sweet on her even if she doesn't return the feeling.

Lamb and Wen are fraternal twins, so Wen is a freemartin Murp. Lamb, the biggest Murp in the herd, is rambunctious and playful, having never really outgrown his baby nature, and is always bugging the other Murps for kicks. Because the herd knows he's sensitive and also the only bull, they tolerate his behavior more than they would otherwise. Wen, on the other hand, the second-largest Murp in the herd, is more placid and hesitant, usually tagging along behind Lamb and watching his antics for fun. She is shy around the other members of the herd, particularly Strawberry, whose confidence and good leadership she seems to respect and admire.

Emotionally and physically hardy Cocoa is usually wherever the going is roughest, whether that's at the front of the herd breaking the snow in winter or a little outside a shelter to keep an eye out for danger. She's the "tank" of the herd, despite being the exact middle in size, because the other Murps know that she'll follow through on any threats she makes. Cocoa is the only Murp in the herd that will challenge Strawberry, though she defers to her the majority of the time. Tiny Sophie is the smallest and daintiest of the herd, and the most affectionate towards outside animals. She's usually the one to interact with non-Murps "on behalf" of the rest of the herd, once Strawberry and Cocoa have decided they're not threats, and is usually the Murp closest to the fence.
