Sometimes, rooms like these had hidden passageways in their walls. It wasn’t a guarantee, but Fanged had a good feeling about this one. Ink watched with interest as the woman checked the walls for any signs of indentations that were a quick tell of a hidden passageway. The walls were firm when she pressed against them. And they continued to be that way until she reached the far wall of the room. There, the walls looked a bit different. The change was subtle, so subtle that Fanged couldn’t pinpoint exactly what had changed. She simply picked up on the fact that something had. Ink followed her, brushing against her legs when Fanged stopped to stand in front of the far wall. She lifted up her hands and gave a firm smack against the surface of the wall. The wall felt flimsy underneath her touch and crumbled completely when she smacked it a second time.

She hadn’t been expecting the wall to basically dissolve with a few good hits. She had been expecting some sort of hidden passage, but she would take what she could get. Ink carefully moved closer. She sniffed skeptically at the ground.
“Well I don’t know how safe it is if you stick your nose in the remaining dust,” she remarked.
She leaned down and patted Ink on the top of her head. The Mosca was growing more affectionate the more time they spent together. It seemed to be the natural progression with most lab created critters. Fanged didn’t have much experience with regular animals, so she couldn’t gauge if it was the same with them as well. Ink blinked up at her before darting forward to move into the new area that had opened up.
“Be alert, but have fun,” she warned the Mosca. Ink might not truly understand her words, but Fanged liked to speak to her.

She followed Ink over towards the new section that had opened up. The new section was vastly different from the rest of the room. The Mosca dashed forward, her eyes lit up with intrigue. She had a curious streak and little impulse control. Fanged didn’t mind those traits, but it made Ink a little difficult to handle. Exerting control over her pet wasn’t something that Fanged wanted to do, but if Ink was in danger, she wouldn’t hesitate to carry her or put a leash on her or something similar. The new area was filled with potted plants. Fanged wasn’t educated enough in the realm of plants to identify what they were exactly, but something about them looked off to her. She squinted as she tried to discern what it was. Ink thankfully avoided the strange plants. Fanged decided that their best course of action would be to get away from them as soon as they could.

In the middle of the new area were a few small trinkets that she was able to collect. Surprisingly, there was also a little pocketpet clutching a piece of corn. As she was collecting the objects, Ink slunk down and crept closer to the pocketpet. When Ink drew closer, Fanged was quick to react.
“No, Ink!” she cried out just as Ink was about to leap on top of the defenseless pocketpet. She was quick to grab the Mosca and hold her back. Ink wriggled in her grasp and let out an unhappy noise. Fanged held her still until she stopped trying to break free. Once she was relaxed, the woman released the Mosca. Ink paused for a moment before her attention was drawn to the crow pocketpet once again. She started to make her way closer to the creature, snapping her head back briefly to see if Fanged was going to stop her.

Fanged paused for a moment, making sure that Ink was going to actually try to harm the pocketpet first before she intervened. She didn’t want to discourage her curiosity, but she didn’t want her to go attacking poor pocketpets. Especially since she could sell those to the store for a fair chunk of change. Ink gave one last look up at her before she made her move. She leaped through the air, intending on landing on top of the pocketpet and enjoying a clean kill. However, Fanged intercepted her midair before she could land.
“Ink, no!” she scolded her.
Ink immediately thrashed in her grasp, trying her hardest to break free. She turned to bite Fanged, but the woman was quick to tuck her hand away from the Mosca’s teeth.
“No!” she scolded again.
She continued to hold the Mosca until she calmed down. Once she had, Fanged let her go once again.

Surprisingly, the crow pocketpet was largely oblivious to these potential near death encounters. This time when Ink was released, she slunk away to sulk for a moment. She eyed the pocketpet warily, understanding now that Fanged didn’t want her to attack it, but the temptation to do so still remained. Fanged made a show of pretending to look away in order to give Ink the opportunity to disobey her. She heard an absence of sound from the Mosca as she prepared to resume her hunt. When Fanged turned around, she saw Ink slowly stalking closer to the crow pocketpet.
“No!” she quickly reprimanded.
This time the Mosca stopped dead in her tracks. She warily glanced up at Fanged and remained in place. This time, Fanged praised her for following orders.
“Good girl, Ink!” She grabbed a piece of Galabex jerky to reward the Mosca with. Ink brightened up considerably when she was given the treat.

Ink was a little more agreeable to deal with once she had finished her treat. However, she still considered the crow pocketpet to be food. And because of this, she still wished to hunt the little pocketpet. Fanged again pretended to look away from the Mosca. She knew it wouldn’t be long before the crow tempted Ink once again. She kept her back turned, sneakily looking over her shoulder when she suspected that Ink had moved closer to the crow. When she saw that Ink was on the move, she reprimanded the Mosca.
“Ink, no!” she warned her again.
Ink stopped in place. She lowered her gaze so that it was fixed on the ground and pretended that she hadn’t been doing anything wrong. Fanged took that to be somewhat of a victory for her training. Ink would need to be tested further. She didn’t want the Mosca pestering her about the pocketpet as she was bringing it back to her kennel.

She moved and picked up the crow pocketpet. Ink stared up at her with interest, her gaze fixed on the creature as it squirmed in the woman’s hands. The temptation was still there, but she was aware now that Fanged was not pleased when she approached the small creature. Fanged brought the creature close to her and placed it on the ground. This time, it was a clear test for Ink. Ink kept still for a moment. She looked up warily at Fanged, testing to see again if the woman was watching her. Fanged averted her gaze as she pretended that she wasn’t paying attention. Ink made her move. She lowered her head, prepared to bite the pocketpet. Instantly, Fanged told her to stop.
“Ink, no!” she commanded.
The Mosca stilled immediately and drew away from the pocketpet. She conceded for now that she wouldn’t attack the pocketpet. Fanged placed the creature carefully away.

Now that the pocketpet was safely away with the objects she had found, Fanged felt ready to leave the room. She leaned over towards Ink and ran her hands across her fur. Ink leaned into her touch briefly before scampering forward. The door was located close by and Fanged made her way closer to it. Ink waited for her to open the door and trotted through when the woman opened it for her.
“Alright a new room should be exciting to explore,” she mused.
The new room was smaller than the last one, but it was filled with more furniture. If Fanged had to take a guess at what sort of room this was meant to be, she would pick dining room. There was a large table located in the center of the room and there were a series of chairs lined up next to it. Dishware was stacked on top.

Fanged stepped closer to see if there was anything under the covered, silver platter that was placed in the middle of the table. To her surprise, there was food hidden underneath. A steaming, pumpkin pie was revealed. It was seemingly fresh out of the oven and ready to be eaten. Fanged was still skeptical. She didn’t think she trusted the mansion’s magic enough to taste the food that had been left out for her. However, it also seemed rude to just ignore it. She found herself in a sort of dilemma. In the end, her suspicious side won out and she stepped away from the freshly cooked pie.
“At least you don’t seem to interested in it. I suppose you only eat meat,” she remarked to Ink.
The Mosca was more interested in exploring. She slunk underneath the table, sniffing at the area close by. Fanged waited for her to emerge into the open once again.

When Ink didn’t seem too concerned with the underneath of the table, Fanged assumed it was void of anything interesting. She placed her palm on the table, testing to see how sturdy it was. When it remained firm under her touch, she too decided that was nothing to note.
“I guess this room is a little boring at the moment, so we’ll need to do something to change that up. Time to do a little bit of damage,” she commented.
Ink perked up at the sound of her voice. Fanged moved to the side of the room where there were wooden cupboards stacked against the wall. Ink followed her with her tail flicking excitedly behind her. Fanged opened one of the cupboards, surprised when she instantly found something of value. The necklace was rather pretty and she was quick to pocket it. Ink was not as interested in the object as she was.

After she had collected the necklace, it became evident there was nothing left of value to be found in the rest of the cupboard. Sometimes, you could simply get lucky on the first search and find nothing after. Ink enjoyed opened the drawers and sticking her head in to explore what was inside. She didn’t even need to find treasure to be entertained.
“Alright, how about we head to another room?” she suggested.
Fanged stretched her arms briefly as she stood back up. Crouching down and peering through cupboards served to make her muscles a bit stiff. She was glad to be on the move once again. Ink followed her over to the door and sat down while she waited for Fanged to open it.
“Be careful,” she warned as she twisted the handle on the door. Shockingly, the door was heavy when she opened it. She had to push with all her weight.

Fanged was surprised when she finally managed to open the door and was met with a low lit, rather creepy looking room. The space was large but it was difficult to see more of it. She couldn’t quite gauge how large it was. For now, she would treat the unknown portion of space as dangerous until she could properly explore the areas she couldn’t quite see. Ink trotted forward, moving both silently and swiftly. Fanged paused for a moment to watch her. The Mosca was intently focused on a spot hidden by the shadows. She lowered her body into a crouch that would aid her in her hunt. She pounced and landed on her target. When Fanged got closer, she realized that Ink had been chasing a poor moth that had been trapped in the confines of the mansion. She was successful in her hunt and held the insect proudly in her mouth.
