Izzy sighed as he trailed a claw through the water and then rested his head on his front paws. It had been too long since Umber, and while he loved his daughter, Ember, it didn't matter too much to him at the moment. There wasn't much for him to do now that everyone was grown, even the little ones the woman had brought home and all that. He glanced up and stared out from his secret glade, the vines in front of the hole twitched from time to time in the wind. Sighing again, he felt his tail twitch and he rolled over onto his back to soak up the sun. Staring up at the sun, he stretched his wings out a little and then wiggled a bit to scratch the itch between his wings. He was, simply put, lonely. It was hard to be the patriarch, he decided, and he sighed a third time, wishing there was someone out there for him. 1/25

Fauna was perhaps a little peckish, she decided, and rams just wouldn't do! Don't get her wrong, of course. Fauna loved her new family dearly and enjoyed taking care of the youngest girls very much, but she was sick and tired of ram. Day in, and day out, ram ram ram. She wanted some fowl, and they were pretty common this time of year; flying up and over the canyon in their yearly migrations. Fauna had quietly asked pop-pop if he wanted to come with her, but he was far more interested in watching his grandaughter paint. So there was Fauna, flying about until she found a bunch of geese on the wing. Quickly, she took two of them, one in each of her front paws, and went to land. Sure, they were small. Not really economical for feeding a large family, but they were fed today. She was just being picky and she knew it. Fauna carefully lands near the river, folding her wings and dropping both geese. She didn't quite notice the lashak soaking in the sun nearby. [2]

Izzy yawned and rolled back over when he heard someone land close to him. He tilted his head as he was stretched out a little, and he wondered who she was. He could tell she was a she, it was easy for a Draconic to tell about other Draconics. He'd never seen her before, but that wasn't surprising, he didn't get out much anymore it seemed. Settling up onto his haunches, he tilted his head at her and folded his wings against his back. "Hi!" the Lashak said exuberantly, they weren't the brightest race of Draconic out there, but he meant well and he liked to meet new people. Pushing his head forward a little, he laid back down and let his tail twitch, wondering what was going to happen about things right now. It was all well and good to be curious, but he crept forward a little until he was only a few feet away, marveling at her.

Fauna was not really expecting anyone to be around; the canyons were a quiet place a lot of the time, and it would seem she was in luck! Fauna was still surprised, however and turned around to see a lashak behind her! She looked surprised for a moment, batting her powdery purple eyes, and then immediately noticed how rude she was being! "Oh goodness, goodness, I am so sorry! I do not mean to eat in front of you, where are my manners. Here you are dearie." She said, in draconic. She had no idea how to speak common, it just wasn't something that she really studied as a younger one. She quickly pushes over one of the fowls to him, and immediately was a little embarrassed. She wasn't sure if he was even hungry, and it occurred to her that he was different than the other lashaks she currently lived with.

Oh, food! Izzy leaned forward and sniffed at the fowl for a moment before gingerly picking it up and tasting it a little bit. It was good! "Good bird!" he told her with a toothy grin, "Thanks!" He tore into it and then licked his chops before stretching out again and sniffing at her a little, "Izzy." The Lashak pointed to himself with a claw, and then pointed at her and tilted his head. A simple being, he was happy enough with how he was, but was frustrated sometimes since he couldn't often portray what he wanted to when he spoke. Still though, it was nice to talk to someone new, her voice was soothing and lovely and he liked the way she sounded. He was sure he sounded rough and tumble to her, but that was fine! He was just happy to meet someone new at this point, the cavern was lonely with so many Draconics.

The forwardness of the Lashak struck her in the most pleasant way; perhaps it was mostly that she was used to the more... Ah, careful folk of her new home? And well, no one before then. She had been lonely for a long time, but it suited her growing up. Now she wanted to remedy that, and wasn't entirely sure how to go about doing such at all. It was a normal thing for her people, but ah, she always felt so different and nervous about herself! She was quite pleased with his liking of the bird. She glanced down at her own goose and then gently hid her muzzle with her paw as she took a quick bite, and then wiped her mouth on the arm quickly as she rose up. "Oh me? I'm Fauna. And you're Izzy?" She said, pointing to herself on the 'Fauna', and then to him with her question to make sure that she got it right.

Bobbing his head happily, he repeated it again, "Izzy!" Pointing to himself, he realized that was dumb for him to say, but it didn't matter, she seemed nice enough! He sat back on his haunches again and tilted his head to watch her eat for a moment before he looked away and back again. "Fauna," he said, reaching out to tap her on the shoulder. Beaming, he watched her some more and then looked up above at the sun before he closed his eyes and soaked in the rays. It was a lovely day out, and he was in his happy place. Not like the cavern wasn't his happy place, with his daughter and all that, but that was fine as well. Hopefully at some point he could have some more offspring, and while... well... He looked away shyly, wondering what he was going to say to the pretty Fauna.

She found herself nodding along with him, even though she wouldn't normally have done so. He was quite a bit enthralling with his openness! "Good, now I know your name! It is a lovely name." She said, and then she bent down to eat another piece, daintly pressing her maw against her leg again. "Yes Izzy?" She asked, as he tapped her. She couldn't help but also look quite happy; his beaming was infectious it would seem. Oh, he was looking into the sun now! She often tried to keep out of it since her feathers were quite good at keeping her warm, but it really was a lovely day today. She wasn't sure what he wanted, but she did already enjoy being around him. Really, it was nice to be near someone so down to earth. Everyone in her home lair had their head in the clouds, and while that was fine, it was nice to meet someone different too! "The sunshine is nice, isn't it?" She finishes her goose, leaving only a few feathers, and of course a bit of a smear on the back of her leg. Ah, well!

Ah, she was so nice! She didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that he was simple, she was talking so nice to him no matter what he seemed to say and do. His family got bothered with him sometimes due to his simple mindedness, but Ember hung with him no matter what happened. She was her daddy's little girl, and while he knew she got frustrated with him sometimes, she didn't let it get in the way of her love for him. She would snuggle up to him no matter what, and he really wanted a mate for her, but he wanted a new mate for him as well. Umber was gone, maybe...? Fauna was commenting on the sun, and he smiled toothily, "Sun nice! Fauna nice..." Well that was a bit forward for someone who had just met her, he supposed, but he wasn't one for subtlety it seemed.

Fauna did feel quite a bit better; and the fowl just hit all the right spots when it came to dinner. She'd probably go catch some more later, she thought, but she was having fun meeting someone new right now, and she didn't mind to stay for a while. She'd been hoping to meet someone new, after all. It was her main goal, now that she had a nice home, to meet some new folks, and maybe one day find her a mate. Of course, it would be unsuitable for her to be forward, or at least that was what she told herself. She had always followed her own little rules for herself, though she never expected such things from others. She turned to see his toothy smile and she also grinned at him, mouth open slightly. "Oh, I am nice? Thank you, you are also nice Izzy!" She said, stretching her wings a moment before settling back down.

Nice? She thought he was nice? That was wonderful! Izzy hopped up a little and bounced around a bit before settling back down and scuffing the grass a little with a clawed hand. He wasn't sure what to do, she was so nice and pretty... He stared at her, mouth open a little, and then he stepped forward. "Izzy have Ember, little girl. Fauna have little one?" he asked, tilting his head from side to side as he spoke. He wanted to know what her family was like, if this might work... She was so nice though, he hoped she thought the same about him, more so than what she had already said. At least she was hanging around, and this was the true test, if she could figure out what he was saying with his limited speech. He knew the words, it was just hard to form them, it seemed.

His bouncing made her quite excited too, and it showed in the fluffiness of her chest feathers. Oh, how wonderful! He really was splendid, was he not? He scuffed a bit, and looked almost... Shy. Aww, he was such a sweet fellow. "Oh, you have a daughter!" How adorable, she thought! He must be such a family-oriented fellow, with a daughter like that. "I don't have any, no... I wish I did." She admitted, unsure if he'd understand her words, but fine all the same. "I help take care of the young ones of others, but I don't have any of my own." She looked both shy and a bit sad at that, but she smiled to him all the same. She suddenly realized that she had showed her hand, so to speak, and she also wasn't sure what would be polite to ask him. "I bet your little girl, Ember, is nice, Izzy." She said, hoping that her phrasing wasn't confusing or anything. She thought he was really sweet, and didn't want to upset him!

Izzy nodded a little with a bright smile, eyes lighting up, "Ember nice, like Fauna. Fauna pretty too." His nod turned more emphatic and then he stepped a little closer to her and tilted his head. She wished for little ones? He wished for little ones! And she was so nice... "Izzy not smart like Fauna," he rumbled a little with a bit of a sigh. Upset with himself for seeming too forward and not wanting to push his hormones onto the pretty lady, he backed up again and shook his head. It was upsetting to him, he couldn't speak what he wanted to speak, and he couldn't even figure out what he wanted to say, really. He wished he could have babies with her, they would be gorgeous and brilliant and big like Ember, he figured. She needed a brother or sister, she was lonely too without a sibling or mate.

Oh, his eyes were quite pretty! Fauna glanced up, her head a little low, and looked up into those pretty eyes. How lovely! "Oh, thank you Izzy!" She said, and then watched him tilt his head. Oh, if only she could just lean out, and lean her head onto his shoulder! He looked so nice and warm, and she was perhaps just a little chilly, or at least that was what she explained it as to herself. "Oh, dearie." She said, which was the way she talked to everyone, from pop-pop to young Miranda, and little Pachinko, who wasn't all that different from Izzy, save for being incredibly young and thus less wise. "Izzy, it doesn't matter, how much you can speak or anything like that. There is plenty you do know! I bet you are a lovely father!" She said, emphatically. Of course, she couldn't speak common, not once at all. "That's what really matters, who you are, in here, Izzy." She said, pointing a claw to his chest delicately. She meant it, with all of her heart.
