The garden on the grounds was always a nice place to go to enjoy looking at the stars. This was mostly because the area had decently controlled light pollution so it was much easier to look at the stars here. The human glances up, momentarily captivated by the view of constellations above them. The metaphorical knot sensation builds in their throat as they realize that they hadn't really bothered to look to the stars while in the Garden since they were a child, hanging out with their father. They used to spend a decent few nights with telescopes looking out towards the night sky after having dinner in a sort of picnic fashion.
They take a moment to nervously watch the stars and collect their own bearings before pressing on (their intention was to cross the rocky expanse to re-enter the treeline across the way) they thought they heard a shuffling noise.

The blond human immediately stopped their trek. They wanted to make sure that the noise was not somehow something that they had been making (it couldn't be, they had two legs and tended not to rub the cloth on their legs together as they walked- and that was a strange sort of sound). The sound did stop whenever they did, which made them doubt their own senses for a moment. All was still; too still. They glanced over their own shoulder, otherwise staying as still as they could (really only pivoting their shoulders to help with the process). All was still until a small breeze picked up; and that was it. Just below the whisper of the wind across the leaves and sod, Morgan could hear that shuffling again; it had the strangest cadence to it and most certainly was not a noise that was coming up due to anything Morgan was doing.

Morgan was not exactly a tracker- so they could only really guess at the distance or direction of the sound. It could be anything; and Morgan's initial guess was that it was one of the creatures that lived in their gardens. They had not exactly been quiet as they had tromped through the gardens, so they were sure that at least one of their critters had noticed that they were there. They hoped vaguely that it was not the tiny little mess of an equillion; that creature could be very... Aggressive with her affection. At least that was how Morgan chose to view the sometimes destructive activities that the little trickster could get up to. They'd been hoping that the creature would be asleep.
Still, they move towards the direction that they heard the shuffling in. At the very least they would know what was making the noise- be it one of theirs or something else entirely.

There are few leaves still clinging to the greenery; most have started taking on other colours closer to yellows and oranges, though some reds pepper the lower bushes & the tree's that have leaves still sprouting. The sharp breezes of autumn and nippy winds still manage to slither between the branches, rattling those fully browned-leaves and knocking more than a handful free of their branches. Amongst these leaves and colours, something moves just a few feet ahead; something big, and surprisingly close! A full-sized Golossle takes up an impressive amount of space just off to the side; amazing how close it is, it really blends in with the surrounding nature! Small face buried in a a common berry-bush. The big bug placidly munches, antenna twitching once-twice-before lifting its head to gaze over. Oh! A being! Curious..!

The rumors were true. At least to some degree. Morgan was as surprised as anyone else could be, despite the situation of their station in life. Sure, WELP produced species and some of them went limitedly 'feral' to some small degree, living outside. It was fairly easy to get a Tailypo, in example. However, they were designed to do such- the creature that Morgan had located and (hardly) managed to wring in the other day was probably not quite as adapted to living outside as one would hope. They were quite surprised to see it; it was a golossle, but didn't really look like any species Morgan had been familiar with. It was almost like the Ethereal golossle; but markedly different in color and obviously not ethereal. How odd!
This was why Morgan decided to visit their garden the next time they could.[Morgan takes the Spoils Home Between Posts, and Returns on a Later Date.] [Morgan is using Sever Bond] [TBB 1 - Starting a New Search]

Morgan had more work to be done on the gardens to get it back into a less unruly state. It was an absolute mess and that was entirely their own fault. Robotic helpers could not do everything theirself, especially not when the human expected them to do house duties as well. "Perhaps I ought to g-get a few more..." Morgan mumbles. They didn't want too many; they were notorious for not trusting others and robotic helpers were not exempt from that general wariness. Still, it might be required; they considered that carefully, mulling it over mentally while they opened the front gate to the garden. The gate was a little creaky, too. They made a bee-line for the toolshed and opened it up with little fanfare, quickly turning on the light and then opening a cabinet to pull out some metal joint lubricant. They moved quickly out to the gate in the cool autumn air to apply the lubricant to the joints.

After working the joints of the gate until they no longer squeaked, they returned the can to the shed and tried to think of what else needed to be done. They were hoping to eventually get around to working on the pepper bed; which they were certain was far overgrown... However they knew that there were many other things that needed attention, as well. After a moment of consideration, Morgan decides to make the best of what little is left of the waning daylight of the evening, and they went ahead and grabbed the needed supplies to begin working out in the pepper bed. The squash bed was nearby to the pepper bed, and at the very least both were in season and Morgan was interested in bringing a few home to have for the next day's dinner.
The pepper bed looked absolutely HORRID. Morgan was completely aghast to look at it.

The pepper garden had been completely ignored by the robots, from what Morgan could tell. Of course, they had been out of season up to this point, so other beds were more taken care of. The peppers and squash however? Those were a -mess-. The human could not have imagined that these would be this bad. They had to pull their gaze away from the horrible overgrown mess, and instead they glanced out towards the bushes that lined the vegetable beds. They were happy to catch the sight of just the tip of a tell-tale little spiraled horn of the juvenile equillion that lived there. They hadn't seen hide nor tail of their critters for a while (they assumed it was because of the creatures that were apparently running rampant; who knew how dangerous they could be?) and it was nice to know that though they be shy, they were at least present.

Morgan was not entirely certain if the creatures that were apparently coming in from the wilds in droves according to the various rumors flying about (the bespectacled human could not manage to feel like it was an adequate use of their information lines to get rumors about such a trivial manner; even though it could be much worse than originally presented) were not scaring their garden creatures away. Of course, the autumn also made a lot of the species in the gardens more sleepy than average, so it could also be that. Either way, Morgan decided to pay more attention to the garden in the future to keep an eye out.
The human quickly leans the tools up against a tree that they were sure that they could memorize (it had a lightning-strike wound on it that was healed over) and then they grabbed a rake to clean up the pepper beds the best they could with it.

The pepper bed was a worse mess than Morgan had anticipated or even noticed, however the Pepper Plants were doing much better than they had expected so they were quite pleased with that decent turn of events. Positive events felt few and far between for them, especially when they didn't necessarily work for them. They did not much favor works with the hands; blue-collar work it was. The most they could personally enjoy was tinkering, and they leaned more towards the software side of that with preferences. However, there was something to be said about working with the leaf-litter to uncover some rather decently nourished and protected loam beneath. A few earthworms worked up and out of the leaf litter, skittering for cover once more. The bespectacled human was very happy with the fact that it was cooler out by now; perhaps a cold front was coming in- because they were drenched with sweat in no time at all.

Morgan uses the back of their arm to wipe away sweat; having had rolled up the sleeves of their white lab coat whenever they had started working on the pepper bed. The pepper bed was scarcely a quarter of the way done, with the leaves all brushed out to the sides and weeds plucked and tossed along with them. Morgan planned on later moving the leaves to a nearby compost bin, but they wanted to get the full pepper bed worked out before they worked on that part. Already they were growing quite tired, and they were making a decent amount of noise. However; they hoped that the noise would bring the interest of one of their own creatures, or perhaps one of the ones that were coming out of the woodwork; like the strange red and spotted golossle from just a few days before. However, it was just as possible that it was running them away.

Morgan took a moment to breathe. They'd saw fit to bring some water in a water bottle this time, and they were prudent with the amount that they sipped as they brought it to their lips. They would likely be out here for some time, and they didn't want to have to trek up to the house prematurely for water of all things. They had not brought more due to the sheer weight of water per size. Still, the tiniest dregs of water cooled them decently enough down, along with wiping some of the sweat from the base of their neck where the fine hairs grew. Finally, they lifted the rake up again and got back to work clearing out the pepper bed. They wanted to get further than half done with it before pausing again, but they still kept their ears out for any sounds in the brush around them.

Every once in a while, while Morgan was working with the rake to remove the very thick layer of leaf litter on the pepper bed, a wind blew through the near forest around them. Morgan would stop, wipe their brow, and scan the treeline to see if there was anything there that they'd have to find a way to figure out how to catch. Of course each time there was nothing. They weren't feeling that tell-tale sensation of being watched, but they didn't really like to assume that it was something that would be relied upon with any amount of certainty. They would then continue to rake up the leaf litter, and would be sent glancing around looking for something that was not there at all whenever the wind blew yet again.
Finally, they got the last of the leaf litter removed from the pepper bed; though they needed to go back through and continue weeding it.

After scanning the treeline for the umpteenth time, the bespectacled human turns to the pepper bed once more and began weeding. It was already half weeded, they had gotten about halfway through working on both the raking and the weeding before they decided to split the two tasks to try to make up for some of the exhaustion that they were already beginning to experience. Splitting the two tasks did indeed save on some of Morgan's energy, though it did require them to work nearly double the time that the back half would have otherwise required. Finally, the entire pepper bed was weeded, and all of the weeds were laid on top of the leaf litter that was lining the outside edge nearest the compost pile of the bed itself. With another furtive sip of water from the water bottle that they had brought, Morgan immediately begins the work of getting the trash to the compost pile.
