Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

It had been some time since the previous fight. At first, Rhys was glad of it; it afforded him time to think, and reflect on everything that had gone well... And everything that had gone badly too. Mostly it was badly, if he was being honest. It had been a learning experience, to be sure, but Aster had been right in that fighting, even fighting with creatures who were theoretically a relatively even match for him, was no pleasant thing.
But then the days had gone on, one after another, with no envelope in sight, and Rhys had begun to worry. Had they been disqualified, maybe, or had the Pit gone through some sort of trouble? There was no end to the conjecture an idle mind could come up with if left unoccupied. By the time the envelope did, at last, appear, he was relieved. Mostly.
It would be a lie to say he wasn't apprehensive too. Stepping onto the sands should have been a familiar process by this point, but he still felt a kick of adrenaline, a surge of rising... well, better to call it excitement than panic.
The opponent wasn't here yet either. All the more suspense to have to cope with, he supposed.

Nerius probably could have been on time a little better, but he wasn't past the deadline, and that's what mattered. Honestly, he'd almost forgotten about it, it'd been so long since the last battle he almost hadn't expected another letter to be sent out. But it had, and now he was here. And so was there opponent.. sort of. That was a TROD, had the other competitor decided to send to robot in their place? If so, he couldn't complain, he'd been tempted to send his own, the battles had been so entirely one sided that he'd lost any real investment. No suspense, no strategy, just watching the whiptail fall... again.
She didn't seem to be discouraged by that, and as she entered the pit, was as eager as ever to attack the... whatever that was. He was completely unfamiliar with the species, and he wondered if it was a crossbreed of some sort. Part faeron maybe? Whatever the species, he doubted his whiptail would do well against it.

Rhys had seen a variety of opponents in this tournament--- or at least he thought he had, anyway. A living, moving shadow had been a big surprise, to be sure. But nothing quite prepared him for what he saw before him now. He blinked, half expecting the creature to resolve itself into some trick of his imagination, but it didn't.
This was real then. The creature had no eyes. Could it see?
{Steady,} said Rabbit. Her voice in his mind snapped him back to reality. Strange as it was, it was still an opponent.
The last fight ended in their loss, but even so, he had begun to attune himself to Rabbit's voice in battle, and she had begun to offer him guidance. Now he waited, body tensed. After a moment's deliberation, the command came.
{Bite,} said Rabbit, without embellishment.
Rhys sprang at the opponent, readying himself to do just that.

It wasn't long after his whiptail was released into the pit that the dragon-like creature began to move. Oddly, the TROD hadn't spoken, as far as Nerius could tell, and he didn't see a ribbon on the creature either. It could have been a hand signal, he hadn't been looking for that, but it didn't matter really, whatever the communication method, a command had been given. Nerius didn't have a fancy way of communicating with the whiptail, and simply called out the command, "Jumanji, crunch!" The other creature was already moving, and he rather doubted Jumanji would land first.. if at all. So far all of their opponents had managed to evade the whiptail's first strike.
She was already interested in the eatable sized moving thing, and had already been heading toward it. When the command was given, it only encouraged the vinesnatcher, and as the two grew closer, she lunged, large jaws open, at her foe.

Calculations
-Rhys uses Bite! --A d10 is rolled; 5 is rolled. Bite will do the most damage possible. --Bite's damage of 3 + Rhys' Strength of 2 = 5 5 - Jumanji's Resistance of 3 = 2 Jumanji's Stamina of 3 - 2 Damage = 1 Jumanji now has 1 Stamina
-Jumanji uses Crunch! --Rhys' Danger Sense procs; Crunch misses.
-
Both of the contestants have the same number of Dexterity; a die is rolled. -Jumanji will go first this turn.

The dragon creature struck first, which didn't surprise Nerius, it had already been moving before he called out a command. What was unexpected was that Jumanji was still moving, it was the first time she hadn't been downed in one hit. She let out a snarl of pain an anger as the foe's teeth hit her body, sap-like liquid leaking out of the bite wound. Her own attack missed, though Nerius couldn't tell if the other had dodged, or pain of the bite had thrown off her aim. It was a nasty hit, despite the (relatively) small jaws, and it was clear she couldn't take another hit like that.
But there wasn't anything to do other than to attempt another attack, and he repeated the command, "Crunch!" The whiptail was mad, and even with her injuries there was no hesitation to her lunge at the dragon-like creature, jaws open and eager to sink her teeth into the foe.

The thing Rhys liked least about biting was the taste. Blood was bad enough, but as he felt his teeth sink in, something bittersweet ran across his tongue this time. He recoiled, scrambling to put distance between himself and his opponent again, only just avoiding what looked like a bite from its much deadlier jaws.
{Again?} he asked Rabbit.
{Wing buff this time,} was Rabbit's reply.
If he was being honest, Rhys was relieved. It was such a petty, little thing to be concerned about in a fight, the issue of how the enemy tasted, when they were fighting for... Well, not for their lives, exactly, but it was still dangerous. Even so, there were ways to hit your foe without having to subject yourself to that.
And maybe it was a good sign that he had the presence of mind to notice these things this time around.
The opponent was already on the move, so this time, Rhys waited, readying himself to strike.

Calculations
-Jumanji uses Crunch! Rhys' Refined senses procs and adds another Danger Sense. -Danger Sense procs and Crunch misses.
-Rhys uses Wing Buff! A d10 has been rolled; 7 is rolled. -Wing Buff will deal the most damage possible. Wing buff deals the user's Dexterity in damage; Rhys' Dexterity is 4. 4 Damage - Jumanji's Resistance of 3 = 1 Jumanji's remaining stamina of 1 - Damage of 1 = 0
Results
Jumanji is buffeted to the ground by the winds. The pit healers rush out to bind Jumanji's wounds.
Aster will receive 3 pit prize points and Rhys 2 levels for winning. Nerius will receive 1 pit prize point and Jumanji 1 level for losing.
