If things went well in rearing the golems, he'd have a total of five of them at the end of the project. To know that all of his efforts with twelve of them would only result in five final golems was a little.. Disheartening. But, knowing that those five would be a culmination of all the tender loving care he put into them made the prospect seem a lot more comforting. Fusion as a means to form progeny was an odd concept, but a fascinating one. His blue eyes glanced over his shoulder at the knee-high fire golem. This one would be fused with an earth golem to create lava. Its partner was already fully matured, but it would be some time before the little walker would be a big, healthy stalker. They fed off his energy, garnering strength for themselves the more time he spent with them. The time spent wandering the mansion would do it well.

That is, as long as it could keep up. Xentus easily got ahead of himself when it came to sating his curiosity when there was so much to see and explore in this place. Every door contained a mystery beyond it. Would you find something that somewhat resembled a bedroom or would it be a hedge maze? It was a delightful wonder for the wanderlust-driven leopard.
"Hmm.. What might live here?", the leopard asked to the fire golem. They were walking along an 'outside' cobblestone path lined with trees of orange leaf when they happened upon a large, gnarled oak with a fairy hut at its base. Normally, he'd imagine it to be but a decorative feature, but given the magical nature of the manor, it was possible that the small abode was inhabited. Though the house was much too small for him to attempt to enter, the golem might be able to squeeze itself within the confines.

 An interesting find.

A raised brow looked between the door and the golem. The knee high creature seemed to look interested in whatever lay past the door.. Bit that might've only been due to the leopard's own will reflecting upon it. A smile cracked his muzzle as he decided to entertain the idea. Why not? He mentally shrugged and then crept forward to knock on the wooden door. It would be rude to simply barge in. The sound reverberated around what seemed to be an empty interior.. Then, the man reached for the door knob, finding that it turned freely.. And opened. He actually didn't expect that much to happen. Xentus blinked, then leaned forward to peer within. It was dark.. But it seemingly was a lot more spacious within the tree than one would assume. As per usual with the mansion. "Go", the man directed to the golem, pointing at the dark, looming opening.

Was it wise to ask the golem to enter the unknown? Probably not. But he was curious. What would happen? What.. Was inside there? Would the golem be swallowed by the darkness? There were too many questions to satisfy! The golem was basically immortal and impermeable, so he wasn't worried about it getting hurt. The worst that could happen is that it got lost. Which.. Wouldn't bode well. But the glowing seed would hopefully be easy enough to track within the hollowed tree. Xentus looked between the golem and the open door, expecting it to simply waltz in as he directed. It knew his will. But acting upon it was usually a slow process. The mammalian patiently waited, maintaining his point at the hollow. But to speed things up a bit, he gave the beast a gentle nudge with his other hand, pressing it to act faster. It was enough to cause the walker to saunter forward, entering the unknown.

Xentus watched as its form was swallowed by the darkness. He could only make out the faint glow from the inner seed of the creature, which soon became faint as it continued into the murk, following its master's command. Then, suddenly, the door slammed shut. A sharp pang of panic stabbed through the leopard's heart, his claws grasping for the doorknob. He tried his best to turn it and open it back up, but to no avail. It was stuck fast, doorknob only jiggling as if someone locked it. Frantic blue eyes looked around for anything that might be the culprit, something to blame. Something to maim. But there was nothing. "Little one?", the leopard called desperately at the door, trying the handle once more. His heart raced. He'd experienced his precious pet be taken by this mansion once before.. He should've expected as much, honestly. The man muttered a curse under his breath as he gave up..

Alright, if the door wouldn't open, he'd find some way in.. An unconscious snarl was plastered on the man's muzzle. His claws raked against the wood, in some semblance of an effort to somehow slash his way through the tree bark. He left the surface scarred, but it did little in terms of offering him a way to his golem. He expected as much but.. He had to try something. Desperate claws continued to slash, forming splinters on the tree's surface. Drops of sap leaked from the gashes, clear in color. The wood under the outer layer of bark was exposed with enough clawing, seeming to show the man that there was no hollowed interior at all. His brow was furrowed, an patient anger seething within. Until the sound of a click from the door cut through the air. The door opened itself, allowing the exit of a single fire walker, unscathed.

Xentus returned to his senses, relief washing away any anger and malice. His heart calmed. He could finally exhale. Had he been holding his breath this whole time? It had only been but a few short moments since the creature wandered in, but it felt so much longer.. Hmm? What was that in its.. Head? Mouth? He still didn't know what to call this part of its body. Blinking, the leopard kneeled down and peered into one of the pores in its shell. There was its seed in there, but something else. Something green. The walker looked at its master, almost as if expecting some kind of reward for doing whatever it did. It had done good, right? It clattered happily at the man's touch, which wasn't exactly one of praise, but more of a probing one. Not that it cared. Xentus forced its head open by prying at the seam, curious as to what was in there.

The scent of alcohol is strong, wafting towards you through the air. Is that cider...? Full of apple aroma that goes straight to your head. Without touching a drop, the world around you starts to spin. Oh dear. You feel the need to steady yourself, or sit down, before you can continue on your adventure.

And out from its head-shell came a little green orb. It looked like a marble, a cat's eye marble. It was a bit too big for actually playing with, but it did look like a nice little decoration. Xentus was just relieved that the little thing was alright. This place and its tricks really did rile him up.. There was a good chance that harm might come to him or one of his creatures as a result of the magical present here. That wasn't something he wanted to face. What was supposed to be a simple exploration venture never turned out to be such.
And to make matters worse, it was time for things to shift once again, it seemed. He'd experienced this a few times before, but the sensation was different now. The strong scent of apple filled his sensitive nose, causing the leopard to recoil backward and stumble to the ground.

The orchard around them swirled in a mist of colors and shapes. His eyes could hardly focus on any single thing in particular. They kept moving. It was.. Difficult to keep a hold on his own thoughts even. Xentus attempted to power through the odd sensation, and for a moment, he succeeded. He was granted brief clarity, seeing the mansion begin to withdraw its trees. The cobblestone path below him sank into the earth and in its place, it seemed ill-fitted wooden boards grew in their place. His eyes wandered. The golem was standing over him. It somehow seemed concerned. A clawed hand reached to touch the creature and offer it some reassurance that he'd be fine. But it began to grow, towering over him and escaping his reach. He was losing himself again. A curse was muttered as whatever grip on reality slipped away from his senses and everything seemed to condense into a swirl of darkness.

The fire golem was rather alarmed by the sudden sickness of its master. The shifting mansion around it meant little to the knee-high walker. The leopard was in a kind of danger beyond its control. Beyond its knowledge still. It was urged to act, but it was unclear in what way exactly. The creature paced around the leopard's form, shell-head nudging his body occasionally in a feeble attempt to get him to snap out of it. The mammalian's eyes were half open, but unfocused and unseeing. If it could whimper, it would've. But instead, a series of nervous clatters emanated from the creature's shell as the segments rattled against each other. Around them, the mansion changed to be something like an old wooden porch The floorboards were damaged and hardly kept in place, and the field before them seemed like an endlessly stretching cornfield. The scenery was illuminated by a full moon and scattered oil lamps.

None of it was of any concern to the fire golem, however. It was on duty protecting its master. To keep him safe until he woke up. That was all it could do, anyway. It planted itself in the crook of the man's arm, head faced up into the air so that it could see in any direction around them through its pores. The seed within hovered carefully about the windows of its shell, watching for a sign of anything that might disturb them. As it would seem, there was nothing out here threatening the leopard's rest. It was still. Quiet. Unmoving, save for the man's shallow breaths and the dark clouds looming before the moon.
The golem cared not for the amount of time that passed before the leopard finally stirred. It was only elated by the fact that its master was finally coming to. The leopard groggily blinked his now dry eyes and slowly slumped himself upright.

> The Adventure Begins Anew...
His last visit to this place had left him.. Well, he didn't want to think too hard upon it. It wasn't the most pleasant experience, and thus it was thrust into the back of his mind to be forgotten - and those memories to be overwritten with new ones. The lure of this strange mansion was too great for him to stay away from it for too long, no matter the results of any prior experienced. Again with him was the strange little fire golem, who he still didn't have name for.. Not that it needed one. By now, the process of slating an adult golem to die and fuse with another in his collection was a dull one. He didn't want to find himself too attached to any particular individual.. The golem cared not either way, content with accompanying the leopard wherever he went. Even if it was another trip to this strange manor.

While it was relatively early into the winter season, there was somehow a thick layer of snowfall around the mansion grounds. The air was frigid, biting at his exposed paws and face. The scarf around the leopard's neck was tightened to minimize any holes that let the cold in and his jacket zipped tight. He didn't care for such clothing, but hailing from a desert left him rather vulnerable to the icy touch of winter. With all the clothing still, he was much too cold to linger outside on the grounds for much longer. A shiver wracked his body, teeth chattering. It felt like it was getting colder by the second.. The man murmured to his fiery companion to quickly come inside with him, a plead in his voice for the interior to be much warmer than the outside. The man's footfalls cracked the surface of the snow, leaving a trail behind as he and his pet entered the building.
