Chaos was a force of nature Xentus didn't fare well with. He was one of lawful nature. A door opens to a room. A hall leads around a house to its various chambers. Said chambers served a purpose, from sleeping to bathing to eating, and anything between. This flavor of trickery was like taking pure chaos and pouring it over every inch of the mannor. Even the ground itself wasn't quite right, feeling soft and mushy despite the appearance of solid cobblestone. Xentus wasn't a fan. Eden, other the other hand, seemed quite perplexed and even curious about these strange textures. Normally, it hated anything unnatural beneath its feet, but this was utterly fascinating with how strange it was. "Come on, Eden. Xentus wishes not to dally..", the man called for the plant, voice thick with wariness. This was going to be such a bad time, he could feel it. If his mind was prepped for everything to go wrong, he wouldn't be caught off guard, right?

If only such thinking ever kept his mind straight. This outing was supposed to be a fun little exploration task to reap rewards from, but he wasn't expecting this level of strangeness. Still, even if it was going to be but a brief venture, he'd try to remain sane and have a good time with his companion. Eden walked along the pillowy ground with each step being a heavy stomp, testing the limits of give the surface had. Its keeper looked over it and sighed. At least it seemed to be having fun. The simple minded were so easily entertained, blissfully unaware of just how weird this all way. And that, Xentus found charming. Perhaps it wasn't the best quality to have in a guardian for his garden, but it was endearing enough that he could overlook it. A wary half smile found itself on the man's muzzle as the two made their way deeper into the mannor's grounds.

Before long, the mansion's front door was within reach. Or so he'd thought. Every time he reached for the door handle, it seemed to drift just out of reach. At first, he thought nothing of it, assuming it to be a mere lapse in his own spatial awareness. But after the second attempt to find purchase, he clued in on the strange nature of the door. It was like the whole house was scooting away from him. Or the ground was stretching beneath his feet. And the strangest part of it all was that nothing seemed like it was moving. Eden stood there, just beside him. The door was there, right in front of him. And yet, when he reached for the door, he seemed to be just out of range of the handle. A grumble escaped the man. It was like he wasn't even allowed in! He was getting in those halls, at least to take a look!

He walked up closer until the door was directly in front of his snout. He could feel his breath bounce off the wood and back onto his skin. There was no way he wasn't within reach of it now! And yet. As his hand reached to grab the handle, he couldn't even manage to reach the wood before him. While it was directly in front of his face. Eden watched him, confused as to why he seemed to be pawing at the air. "Eden! Go there", Xentus commanded, growing slightly frustrated with this strange scenario. Eden walked up, stomping with each step on the soft cobblestone, and walked off far ahead of the leopard. Walking directly on the wood as if it were solid ground. And that was when the illusion was broken for the leopard. For it was no door he reached to, but a trick of the light (or a true magical illusion) which only gave the appearance of a door, while being solid ground. OF course.

What's this hanging on the wall? Didn't you just look there a second ago?
