General Board Rules
-
These are the general rules that apply to every area in the entire forum. Breaking them will result in official warnings, and sometimes even more severe consequences.
This is the Mighty Banhammer. You break the rules, it owns you in the face.
1. No chatspeak
Nowhere on the forum is it okay to use chatspeak. Please, try your best to properly use the English language. This includes trying to keep good punctuation, capitalization, and all other forms of proper grammar. We understand mistakes, of course, but we wish you to try and minimize them.
Now, what exactly is 'chatspeak', as defined by these forums?
-Abbreviations for short words. Such as 'U; ppl; ur; any1; 2 instead of to or too; and sum1'. All are chatspeak.
-Purposely misspelled words, such as 'kewl; liek; awesum; plz; and sum' are chatspeak.
-1337 is considered chatspeak for all purposes of this rule.
2. No "Power Gaming"
In all places that a roleplay takes place here, you shall not control another character that is not your own. This includes death...
Now, as an example-
Your character, Bob, decides to hit Joe. Instead of saying "Bob hit Joe and knocked his tooth out." You should say, "Bob tries to hit Joe." and allow Joe a chance to control his own fate.
3. Mature Rating
This site began as a PG-13 rating, but has evolved into a more mature area. This means anything goes, sex, violence, mature content, and anything else that can be thought of under this label. Please remember to put a tag in your thread name ( (S) (V) (M) and so on), along with a warning in your first post of the thread as to what people may expect in your writing. HOWEVER, training is still under the PG-13 rule, as it still needs to be read by the staff. If someone asks you to stop something, or if they don't wish to allow it in one of their threads, please be mindful, and please be polite. If this cannot be handled maturely, it will be reduced to PG-13 once more.
4. -ism Rule
Oh yes.. language is allowed within' reason, sure enough.. However - some things (language or not) is never allowed.. Racism, Sexism, etc.. all those negative "-isms".. not allowed.. So - a nasty word that is often used to describe black people.. if you use it - we will ban you. Period. ALL sort of -ism is not allowed, as there's only ONE purpose for it - and that's to be nasty to another person, or group of people.
5. Theft and plagiarism
Stealing other people's stories, artwork, characters, and/or anything else, is strictly against the rules. See rule 11 (Cheating) for more details on the theft of pets.
Also, you should avoid playing "cannon" characters (A character that is part of a series, such as 'Ash' from Pokémon). Try and keep all characters original and unique.
6. Flaming and Harassment
There is no reason you should ever be rude or nasty to another person. If they upset you in some way, tell a staff member, who will be able to deal with it properly. If you disagree on something, state your opinion nicely, and without being mean or rude to that person.
7. 150 Word Rule
Our entire forum system is one based on trust, roleplay, community, and the ability to write. In all roleplay-related areas of the forums, you are required to have at least 150 words in each post. (Plus 50 extra words for each additional pet.) Quoting a song does not count toward your word limit, even if you've changed some lyrics.
8. Listen to the first poster!
The first poster in a roleplay usually sets up some kind of guidelines or 'rules' in addition to the ones we normally have. Please listen to all these rules along with the basic rules here.
9. Proboards rules.
This board is hosted by Proboards. Please abide by all of their rules in addition to our own. They are nice enough to host this site for us, we should listen to their terms of use.
10. No Spam!
All chatting should take place outside of roleplay areas. We have a babble board, and a Cbox for chatting in, and there is no reason to post in a roleplay board without actually roleplaying. That gives you credits for chatting, and you should only get them for roleplaying.
11. Signatures
Images in you signature should be no bigger than 250px tall, and 600 px wide. If you have more than one images in you signature, they should not exceed 250px by 600px combined. You may scale an image down to fit your signature by using the following code. (You may change the size to anything you like under 250.)
[img src="IMAGEURL" style="max-height:250px;"]
12. No cheating
What is cheating? Any of the following can be considered cheating-
Having creatures that you did not get through "legal" means... If you did not get your creature's code the PROPER way by taking the code PROVIDED for you in Magical Menagerie Labs or Evelon. If you didn't, they are considered stolen. Stealing pets will result in an automatic banning.
If you did not receive "event" creatures from events the proper way, they are also considered stolen. This includes orbarus.
If you "make up" stats about your creatures, without getting them through honest means of roleplaying and training, it is considered cheating.
If you take items that are not yours, it is also considered cheating, as those items are also specific to individual users.
If you edit the images of ANY adoptable without permission, it is a very high offense, and may result in banning without warning. Art theft, after all, is highly frowned upon by artists. And well, Artists run the Xroads.
13. Drama
Drama is to be reserved for private conversations only. Drama should not be in the boards or the Cbox at any times.
What is drama?
Drama would be... anything parents might find "wrong", "offensive", or "in-appropriate".
Examples-
-Talking about "cutting" and "burning" yourself is drama.
-Talking about attempted suicides is drama.
-Talking about religion in a way that would offend others (such as attempting to sway beliefs) is drama.
-Talking about "my life is so horrible...on and on... pity party..." Is drama.. I understand that bad things can happen in life, but.. if you need to talk about it - please do it in private, not for the entire world to see.
14. Username
Your account name MUST be the same as your character. No exceptions.
15. One account per person.
You can, have only ONE account. Any 'extra' accounts, no matter what they're used for, are not allowed.
Exception: If you have bought or earned an additional character you may have a second account, but you may not -use- it unless you have actually kept up with payments or other obligations.
16. Do not play the staff against each other
We know you want special permission for those moves, abilities, rulings, and whatnot, but the staff talks to each other and know how everything is going ruling-wise. Trying to play the staff against each other and going to one for permission after another has said no will start to earn you warnings.
