Shy Guy was snorting a bit today, but Renathan made sure to pat him on his nose to calm him. He hadn't been quite right since the tournament (he'd been beaten up far past the stopping point of most animals) and Renathan was trying his best to show him that it was okay to go out and do things again still. It was a slow going process though. Renathan did not plan on doing a whole lot of stuff today really, Just ride him out there and do a few of his moves and then call it good. "Maer Gaessh, Shy Guy." Renathan said soothingly, before leaping up onto his back using his arms for support. At that, he rode him out onto the show floor, since it was their turn. The stallion actually calmed down a bit with Renathan on his back, feeling much more safe knowing that they could work together to keep both of them safe easier that way. "Hello there, folks! This is Shy Guy, and while he may not be overtly magical, he has more than a few tricks up his leg feathers!" Renathan figured that joke fell a bit flat.
Renathan had him run through a few of his behaviors on command, including pushing him to Call Lightning outside, which could be heard quite close with a nice rumble. At that, Renathan leapt off of him and had him go intangible before leading him off of the show ring in a fog that he called up on command. Not their best performance, but Renathan loved Shy Guy anyway, and hopefully this would make him less nervous. Once off the stage, Shy Guy materialized once again.
"Maer Gaessh, Shy Guy... So good..." Renathan said, patting him on the muzzle. "You did really nice, boyo."-
[Renathan is using Sever Bond] [Shy Guy carries a rider and uses Call Lightning, Hidden Mist, and Intangible Body on command.] [I'd like the Female Bandersnatch please. c:]

Post by Fiera Ferella on Mar 1, 2020 20:19:42 GMT -6
Fiera watched carefully as the mammalian lead their odd looking equillion off stage. That meant that she and Lunara were next. She took a deep breath... and gave the signal to turn the lights down. It was time. She turned to her yumenokei. "Ready, girl?" She asked. Lunara perked up, as if to say 'yes'. As soon as the lights dimmed, the audience started murmuring, and Fiera took the opportunity to start. She rushed out, low to the ground. "Come on, Lunara." She whispered, reaching the center of the show ring. She held out her arm for Lunara to climb up on, and the yumenokei did with ease.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" She called out, delighting in how her voice echoed through the darkness. "Presenting: Lunara!" She said, and then pointed upward. "Ok Lunie- moonlight!" She said, and the yumenokei sat up, focusing. High in the air above Fiera's head, about fifteen feet up, a dim light blossomed into existence, silvery and faint in appearance, like a spotlight shone on thin air. Fiera knew that it had a supernatural effect however, drawing the audience in, making them unable to rip their eyes away. Well, the next trick would only double that effect. "Now... Wisp!" She said and Lunara focused, gathering up what little magic she had for this move. Then, hundreds of tiny lights popped into existence around the show ring, like tiny fireworks. They hung there in the air, flickering like disembodied candles, and Fiera could hear the audience murmur with approval. She'd show them- this was only the first round.
She lowered her arm, letting Lunara bunch up on it. The yumenokei knew what was coming next. "Ready? And... leap!" She said, tossing Lunara into the air. The moon rabbit floated upward, her ethereal body only slightly affected by gravity, allowing her to travel a lot higher than most creatures her size would be able to. She slowed to a stop in front of the patch of moonlight, silhouetted against it. "Now, glide!" Fiera said, and Lunara started drifting forward, toward the audience, coming into view. The orange light from the Will O' Wisps cast her in an autumnal tone, though that soon changed. "Crescent!" Fiera said, and Lunara reached out a paw, causing a crescent of light to streak behind her, lighting up the air even further, and making it look like Lunara was casting a streamer of light wherever she went.
"Blip!" Fiera called, and Lunara... fizzled out. The audience gasped in surprise as not only the streamer, but the whole yumenokei disappeared in a shimmer of light... and then reappeared at the other end of the show ring. Fiera continued it like that, letting Lunara impress different sections of the crowd with her light streamers before teleporting to another section to wow them as well. Every time her glide threatened to let her hit the ground, she'd simply teleport higher again (though her ethereal nature meant that even the occasional audience member that tried to reach out into the show ring to touch her would only catch thin air). Finally, Fiera called for her yumenokei to return, and Lunara fizzled into existence on Fiera's arm again in a shimmering cloud of sparks.
"Ladies and gentlemen, that was Lunara! And now we bid you... goodnight!" She called, and then leaned to Lunara before closing her eyes. "Flash, dear." She said, and the moon rabbit let out a massive burst of light, enough to dazzle both judge and audience. By the time their sight cleared, the show ring was well lit... and completely empty. Fiera panted offstage, exhilarated but relieved that it was finally over. That was the fanciest show she had pulled off in a long time.
(Lunara uses Name, Come, Moonlight, Magical Touch (Will O' Wisp), Leap, Glide, Crescent of Light, Travel By Moonlight, and Flash on command. Ethereal can't be done on command, but was still demonstrated.) (Female Bandersnatch please!)

This was ridiculous. Kumoya followed Silver out into the contest hall and immediately turned around to leave once she saw what it was like. There were too many people here, and they were all making a lot of noise. She didn't want anything to do with it, and she assumed that Silver wouldn't stop her. She was wrong.
"Oh come on now," they said. They took a step between her and her exit. "We have to do the show! You'll like it, I promise. ... Well, it won't kill you, anyway. Plus, it's good practice!" Did anyone else talk to their pets this much? Silver tried not to worry about what other people were doing and got straight to their show. They had it all planned out, so long as Kumoya played along nicely.
"Come here, Kumoya, center stage!" Kumoya knew that she had to do what they asked, and she did rather like them, so she wandered over to where they were standing and dramatically flopped to the floor.

"I need you to show off your cool powers," Silver said. They just ignored the fact that she was flopped over onto the ground looking up at them like there was a million other things she would much rather be doing. They idly pulled a treat out of their pocket and held it out where she could see it. "You want this, don't you? Pretend I didn't just give you one backstage and help me out."
Kumoya reluctantly stood up and twitched her variety of colorful tails. Now she did like treats. That was getting somewhere. If she played along, would there be more treats in it for her? She couldn't wait that long. She tried to take the one out of Silver's hand but they held it just out of reach. "No, not yet." Kumoya looked disgruntled, but not enough to stand up and try to get it. She would bide her time and they would give it to her eventually. They always did.

It was time. Silver felt tense knowing that everyone was watching, but they believed in Kumoya. She was beautiful and the things she could do were incredible! They knew that she could really wow everyone if only they could trick her into showing off. Maybe she would even like it once she realized what was going on.
"Alrighty Kumoya, Summon Rain!" they said. They gestured dramatically to the sky (ceiling, actually) and beamed.
Kumoya squinted at their fingertips. Were they serious? In here? Well they did have a treat, so she could only assume that they were serious. Her eyes narrowed and the magic ruffled her fur. Before long the building was filled with clouds. They swelled as they filled with rain and darkened into a sad, cold grey. Kumoya was giddy with anticipation. This was her favorite part. Why didn't she do this more often? She was sure people would appreciate it if only they took the time.

Silver watched in wonder as the water in the air formed into fluffy grey clouds against the high ceilings. It was honestly awe inspiring that the huge building could accommodate them. They were so frozen with fascination that for a moment, they almost forgot their cue. They jumped a bit as they realized that they almost messed up the show and scrambled to grab their flute.
The Rainfall Flute was a rare artifact that they had picked up... somewhere. The details of which had long since been lost to time. Either way, they were sure that it complimented Kumoya's display just fabulously, so they began to play. Just as the first few drops started to fall from her clouds, some more started to join in, dancing along with the peaceful song played by the flute. Kumoya had never seen anything quite so interesting before, so she stood tall and looked to the sky to welcome the rain.

Plip. Plip. Plip.
At first slowly, the rain started to fall. With each drop it seemed to get faster and more intense. With no whipping rain to carry it along, it was actually quite pleasant. It fell to the ground without any of the bitter sting of a storm. Combined with the sweet song they played, it was incredibly soothing. They hoped that this would win them some bonus points.
Kumoya began to hop about as the exposed bits of her fur became wet. She had a Malii version of a grin on her face as she bounced around like a puppy. She just loved the rain, it was the only thing in the world that made her happy. Well that, and those treats, which she had not yet forgotten about. When she was done having a little dance in the rain, she went over to Silver and looked at them expectantly. She wanted her treat!

"Just one more thing, first," Silver said as they lowered the flute. They had to conclude the show! If they just rained on everyone and didn't follow it up with something awesome, they had no hope of winning the contest.
"Kumoya, Rainbows! You can do it, girl, I believe in you!" Rainbow had always been a tough trick for Kumoya to pull off. She only ever did it when she was excited or very annoyed. They were hoping that the little sprinkle of rain they summoned was enough to get her to do it properly.
As she took a tentative step forward, a rainbow appeared at her feet. She just had to keep it up, or else she would fall. That always made her a little nervous, but she persisted. She took one step after another, slowly but deliberately, and a rainbow formed under her feet. Soon she was high above the show ring standing on a rainbow of her own creation. She realized how impressive it must look, so she stood up tall and tossed her head back, trying to look more menacing.

Kumoya was pleased with her efforts, and wandered back down the other side of the rainbow and safely hopped to the ground. The rain was starting to slow down and the beautiful, somehow tangible rainbow behind her faded away. She had done it! She participated in the show. Now that that was over, she only wanted one thing. That treat she was promised.
"That was incredible!" Silver said. They ran over and removed her helmet so they could pet her face. "I knew you'd show them! I hope I can get you a ribbon to wear. I know you're the best, but I really want to prove it." They beamed at her and continued rubbing her soft wet fur. "Oh right, the treat! Here you go, girl, you earned it." Silver gave Kumoya the little caramel she had so desired and encouraged her to come off the stage to eat it.

He was quietly impressed at the show the second contester made with their pet, a Yumenokei from the looks of it. Compared to the first, he feels like this pair might very well reach first place with the light show they performed. But since they weren’t the only ones entering the show he watched from the sidelines further as the next pair entered the ring, scratching lightly at Dysis back when he hears her making a soft trilling sound as she rubs her head against his cheek, one antennae tickling his ear almost as she does so. ‘ After this one we should be trying something as well.’ He thinks as he watches a grey Malii follow a person that seems to either have the features of a fox, or a cat with a thick long tail trying to convince their Malii to do something. “Hum?” He blinks as he sees drops of water fall from the ceiling as clouds gather moments after having heard the person command the Malii to ‘summon rain’ and gets distracted from the display in the ring as he feels Dysis almost vibrates with her wings as he feels the touch of a few drops of water land on his head. “Screee!” The sudden noise right next to his ear startles him as he backs away from the ring, Dysis fluttering with her wings so fast that she takes off from his shoulder and is visible to him in a state of panic. “Scree!” Shrill trills that could be seen more as a screech are let out from such a tiny body as she flies madly around, avoiding even getting near the ring. “Dysis!” He calls out, trying to get her attention as she flies above him and the anyone else. ‘ Dysis! Come here girl!’ He tries to mentally call out to her with the ribbon around her neck, while holding out his right arm in a posture she should know at least well enough that she’d be able to land on his arm. He feels humiliated that she is acting this way. Likely if the judges see what is happening backstage, points will be deducted for any performance they might make here on out. “Dysis now!” He snaps in a loud tone as she almost seems to fly straight in someone’s antlers when she judges the distance wrong between it, and just barely flies high enough to pass it safely. “Apologies.” He mutters quickly as he runs after Dysis and passes by the person with their Equillion, no doubt startled from someone else’s pet suddenly behaving out of control. Dodging the few contesters that either performed already, or have yet to do so, he waits for the right moment that Dysis flies low enough again that he can snatch her out of the air with his two hands. Panting, he carefully presses her against his chest, ignoring the not so flat surface he has the best he can. “Shh, it’s okay.” His cheeks are pink from embarrassment, he dearly hopes no one will remember his first time entering a contest after this, or if he wants to even try again. He’s lucky she is only about five inches long with her body, but with her wingspan being thirteen inches does makes it difficult for him to have her wings lay still as they keep fluttering in her panic. ‘ Your safe.’ He says inside his mind to her as she trills out in almost a wail, not quite a screech like before, but bordering it? He finds it hard to describe. Dysis LV 14.4, LY 36.3 Claw 0.1

Petting her softly on her head and back when she starts to calm down -he could feel a couple of water droplets having sunk into her fur from the Malii’s performance. When he isn’t sensing her need to fly away once more in panic, he lets his hold on her get looser, allowing her to cling on his coat while he has one hand supporting her bottom, and with the other digs in his coat pocket for the packet of treats. Ignoring the feeling of the De-matter comb for now that resides there as well, he is quick to open it one handedly, and take out a couple of treats. Presenting one near her mouth. ‘Food!’ He hears her say to him mentally while letting out a excited trill, much more cheerful then before, almost like she forgot what she was panicking about in the first place. Giving her one to nibble on immediately, he shows her he still has a couple in his hand and brings it near his shoulder just as she finishes the first treat and follows the silent directions he gives with the treats to make her scramble quickly up and on his right shoulder again, fluttering her wings just the slightest but making no hasty movements to fly off again. Sighing silently in relieve, he gives her the remaining treats as he slowly makes his way back to the edge of the ring, trying to make his facial expression appear apologetic to the people he almost ran over in his haste to get Dysis back. He stays far enough away from the rain that is still pouring in the ring, not wanting to risk Dysis getting another panic attack if what he suspects is the cause of it.
The performance ended when the Malii finished it with walking on a rainbow going high up in the air, tossing its head back in a way that reminds him of how a women tosses long hair to the side in a careless gesture before the Malii walks off the rainbow slowly and walking away with their owner as a soft mirage of a rainbow is left behind for just a moment longer.
He waited just long enough to know for certain that while the ground was left behind with puddles of water from the performance, no more water droplets are going to fall down on them as he slowly makes his way to the entrance of the ring. Eyeing the ceiling one more time with a suspicious glance as he feels Dysis wings fluttering just a bit faster again, then walks to the middle of the ring. He opens his mouth, closes it, coughs in his hand for a moment, and tries again. “H-hello,” He isn’t certain what is going on, but he feels like being in the middle of this ring is making it hard to look around as everyone is looking at him. “this here is Dysis.” He leans his head back a bit more to the left side while showing off that Dysis is clinging on his right shoulder, not that terrible interested in her surrounding when no food is directly within her sight. “A very tiny Vespa for t-those don’t know of their kind, as usually they are larger than this one.” Did he just stutter? He tries to make his face become impassive, hoping no one noticed it as he feels like he is starting to sweat. Using his right hand, he presses down on Dysis back to keep her in place as he uses his left hand to grab from his coat pocket a couple of treats, presenting them in the palm of his hand to the crowd and catching Dysis attention if her cry of ‘Food!’ being send to him mentally is any indication. Keeping her in one place by holding her down, he waits while talking to the crowd. “If everything goes well, you should see her lift these t-treat’s-“ He wasn’t able to finish his speech when after a fruitless struggle Dysis uses her skill in Telekinesis to have one of the treats hover towards her, and gobbled up the moment it reaches her mouth. Doing it two more times for the rest of the treats in his palm till no more were in sight. Chuckling slightly awkwardly, he drops his left arm to let it hang loosely at his side, and lets go of Dysis, petting her instead on the back as she trills softly near his ear to him. “I don’t really have anything else to s-show you folks that she can do, so this is it. Until next time!” Giving a shallow nod, he turns away and exits the ring. Uncertain how he is feeling for his first try in doing something new that is contest related, is it even worth trying to do it for a second time? He can’t say for certain what the answer would be, at least not now, nor so soon as he feels relieved to not have so many people staring at him and the no doubt poor performance they made.

He wasn't sure if he and Toxic Rose could compete, not really, because he hadn't trained her much on command yet, though their bond was very deep and she seemed to sense what it was that he wanted. He hoped she would perform well while they were in front of the crowd, even if she didn't do too much. Inyala was seated on his shoulder, as usual, as if she was little more than an accessory he always wore. She watched with wide eyes, but quietly, staying out of the way. She knew this wasn't a contest for her, but for the creature walking alongside them. Toxic Rose padded softly along next to her master, her blank eyes bright as they stared around intently. Her tails swayed behind her, her wings leaving a slight trail of darkness as she went. The red markings on her body were vibrant against the shadows. They entered the arena together, Toxic Rose somehow managing to stay far out of reach from any person besides Ashe. She was not social, she did not like social events! "Alright, Toxic. Look at me, it's just us out here, alright?" Ashe murmured to her. She still looked a little distracted and nervous, so he thought they might as well get into it. "Toxic Rose, cast that circle, keep everyone out." Ashe spun a quick circle, arm extended like he was drawing a big circle around them. Toxic Rose watched him, finally focused on him, and during his third spin, she got the idea and cast. (Female please)

At first it looked like it was coming from Ashe's fingertips. That might be possible, because he had the Shadow Node that he could tap and cast. He could probably even make it look like she had done the magic herself, and no one would be the wiser! But he was no cheater. He had pride; the pride had suffered for a while now since he hadn't won anything, but that didn't mean he would cheat. That wouldn't make things better.
No, this was all Toxic Rose, and she was happening to make it look like he was the one doing it. When she was done, they were completely enveloped in a shielded circle of darkness. It seemed to sap the light from the bulbs above, and the dancing bones within the circle cast eerie shadows on the walls. The circle grew until Ashe could comfortably stand, and held. Inside, Ashe marveled at how solid it looked, like an oil-slicked black-purple wall with bones stuck here and there. Inyala gazed at it in wonder, sticking close to Ashe's neck. She wasn't sure what would happen if the touched the circle, even if by accident. She didn't want to find out.
When Ashe was sure it had impressed, he motioned with his arm, dropping it off to the side. Toxic Rose got the idea and dropped the circle, which parted from the top and fell to the sides like a cascading waterfall.
