A small building on a busy street. The architecture is of an older style, bright brick against dark trim, with small windows lining the walls. Blinds shutter the residents against onlookers. Despite the age of the building the exterior is relatively well kept, and the hedges surrounding it are vibrant with green growth. The building is old enough that, despite the best efforts of maintenance, moss has begun to encroach on it over the years.

The unit itself is a small, cramped affair. The rent is very reasonable, such that even a student on a meager stipend can afford it, though the building's age begins to show if one looks too closely at the walls or furniture. Everything has a worn, lived-in appearance to it, from the scuffs on the wood floor to places where the paint has chipped away, too small to be worth fixing. The furniture is mismatched, the accumulation of several generations of tenants, consisting mostly of thrift store finds and other dubiously sourced pieces. The couch shows signs of having been chewed on at one point in time, which is unsurprising considering the building's pet policy: so long as it fits and no one else complains, the landlord doesn't ask any questions. Clutter lines the shelves, the tiny cabinets over the stove, the coffee table, the floor. Potted plants occupy what little space remains, though most of them are fake. The pantry, at least, is well stocked with an assortment of snacks. A cat lounges upon the chair, resting atop a comfortable old cushion.

The bathroom is very small, lit by a single bare bulb, and not large enough for anything beyond the barest necessities. It is clean, and some effort was clearly made to refurbish it over the years, but nothing can quite erase the hints of mildew that linger at the edges of the space. The floor tiles are cracked and uneven, a testament to the age of the building. Really, the less said about it, the better.

What suffices for the 'bedroom' is not, strictly speaking, a room of its own. Clever arrangement of furniture achieves something like the effect of a separate space, but even then, the bed shares its berth with the washing machine and dryer. With the closet directly beside them, it is a surprisingly convenient setup, even if it is not particularly attractive or spacious. The sheets are old but serviceable, and mercifully, still white. An assortment of old blankets and quilts give the space a homey feeling, even as the exposed pipes overhead remind the occupant that they are getting exactly what they paid for. A small winged girl sits perched upon the sill of the very tiny window.
