Fanged had unfortunately not gotten a lot of time to spend with Casper yet. She had been nervous, half expecting the Balgor to be rather vicious. However, it turned out that the ethereal being was friendlier than she anticipated. It made her feel more comfortable at the prospect of bringing him places with her. She’d be able to spend some time with him before she’d be required to train him. She hadn’t anticipated stopping at the quest board, but that was where Casper wanted to go. “Do you even know what the purpose of a quest board is? Or did you get curious of the people gathered her?” Fanged was still getting used to owning ethereal creatures. She also had Voxel of course, but she still felt strange owning what was essentially a ghost. Before she had a chance to review the selection of quests, a voice called her over to them. Before she can react, a woman started talking to her, pleading her to take her quest. Fanged had no reason to say no, so she accepted the quest slip that was placed into her hands. She read it carefully, keeping in mind the hurried plea from the woman.
“A Nyssa, eh? I’ll see what I can do.”
Casper was eager to get moving, as though sensing that they now had someplace they needed to be. She didn’t have much of a plan for dealing with a Nyssa, but she did want to go and scout the situation out first. Maybe then she could figure out how to deal with it.
“You seem to be in a good mood.” She told Casper.
The Balgor raised his head, meeting her gaze with one of contentment. Fanged was pleased that her companion seemed so relaxed. Keeping that mindset should help them formulate a plan against the Nyssa.

It took them a while to reach the gardens. Fanged wasn’t as familiar with the area, so she took the time to mentally map out the route as they walked through. The gardens had a calming feeling to it, but Fanged didn’t think that feeling would last for long. She could already see the areas where the Nyssa had been. She didn’t know much about the giant plant creatures. That was likely about to change.
“From what I can tell, I don’t think the Nyssa is being purposely dangerous, but its large size is likely contributing to all this destruction.”
Casper padded away from her, curious about their surroundings. The garden was lovingly tended to and Fanged could see how much work the woman had put into it. If her garden could look half as good as this, she would be pleased. The destruction would be repairable, but it would take time.

Fanged hadn’t taken this quest last year, so she was unsure what preventative measures the previous quester had taken to ensure that the Nyssa would stay away. If there had been any, it hadn’t been powerful enough to stop the creature.
“Maybe you can frighten it away? Big cats are always scary!” She teased Casper. Her companion let out a low grumble, presumably one meant to humour her.
She stepped closer to the damage, moving to assess what they were dealing with. The size of the Nyssa seemed unprecedented, even for a giant plant creature. She would estimate that it was much larger than average.
“Fighting will be off the table. Neither of us are trained for that and I also assume that wasn’t the purpose of this quest. Using our wits would be much preferred.”
Casper glanced at Fanged, listening to her ramble. When she was finished, he moved away for further investigation.

“I guess the first thing we’ll need to do is track down this Nyssa. Then we can get a real feel for what we’re dealing with.”
She watched Casper’s retreating form for a moment, making sure to pick a different direction than the ethereal beast did. She kept her focus on the ground ahead. She scanned the area with her mind focused on the destruction. The damage to the garden appeared in multiple directions. It would be a bit difficult to discern where the Nyssa had gone.
“Roar if you find anything dangerous!” She told Casper. Of course, he wasn’t trained to do such a thing, so she’d had to hope that he’d have the common sense to alert her to any danger. She squinted to keep her attention focused on the task at hand.
“Broken branches and large footprints. That’s a good start. Might be worth following them for a while.”

Fanged followed the line of destruction with a sharp eye. If her hunch was correct, this was where the Nyssa was headed. Of course, it could be long gone by now, but she believed that this path was worth following. Casper moved closer. He regarded the footprints on the ground warily and leaned closer to sniff at them. At the very least, this was confirmation that a creature had indeed been here. The logical conclusion was that it was the Nyssa.
“We’ll follow the tracks and see where they lead us.” She told Casper.
The Balgor followed her as she walked forward. She hoped that his sense of smell would be good enough to keep them on track, but she wasn’t quite certain how sharp the senses of an ethereal pet were. She kept her eyes peeled for any other signs. Mostly, they were just following footprints and crushed plants.
