The resulting shock between him and Shabh finding how cold the water was, he couldn't figure out how or why. Go with the idea of how. Shabh was a dragon hound. Perhaps his dragon blood? He gave the hound his meal for the day, silent. Whatever had happened to him... to them... hadn't gone away with a night of sleep. An invisible thread of bonding between him and the hound. But who could he ask about this? A sigh. He went out before the sun hid midday, trying to ignore the lingering feelings of confuse that dwelled between them. As he had been leaving, the hound leaned his weight against his wooden limb, radiating feelings of love and contentment. He was a happy dog. Hound. thing. Flare couldn't respond to this, for he didn't understand how. How could he react to this feeling? "You have something on your mind if you're coming to see me again so soon." {Hello Cortana} 1 lv 75 9.20

He hadn't even made it out to the main road when Flare had encountered Cortana and Petunia, out for a walk. The black rakai didn't seem pleased on the collar and lead, but she loved her human and would follow her alpha. Even if it meant...this. Insert mental paw gesture at the collar and lead. "We are going to catch glowmoths in the park. Walk with us. Tell me what's on your mind." she was a mom first and this poor young man just looked quite lost. It spilled out as they walked slowly out of the garden, down the lead road. Listening quietly to the fear leaking into his voice, best as the youth tried to hide it. But you know how it is, can't hide much from Mom. "I assure you, nothing is wrong with you, or with Shabh." Cortana reassured him with a smile. "Its actually something unique to the city, with the creatures that come from here." 2 10.20

His expression of minorly shown confuse gave the older woman a smile. She'd had this conversation with Bixby when he'd first come to live with her, and he'd experienced this phenomenon for the first time too. "There are lore tales of a people who flew through the sky on their winged mounts, with a bond so strong that death could not forge it apart. The people who run the Labs wanted to forge such bonds with their creatures and owners. It takes much time to forge this bond, but once it is there, the creature has a forged emotional bond with you that can never be broken." "...I felt the cold though, when Shabh went into the water." the youth muttered, slowly coming along, trying to avoid Petunia, who made his inner humming vibrate further. "Cold is not an emotion?" She thought about this, paying attention to the mildly populated road. Petunia trotting alongside, towing her away from when she was too close to others. 3 11.20

"This is true, cold is not an emotion, and from what I can see, you are not using one of those "magical" ribbons." She mused on this as they stepped into the park. flare realized later that she had a net on her back. "Perhaps the feeling of cold and shock merged and he projected it onto you somehow." "Magical ribbon?" He briefly recalled trying to use one to bridge the gap of language. But it didn't work person to person, unless willing? Or attached. Was it only geared to creatures then? "No, no ribbon for Shabh." "I'm not entirely sure then dear. Perhaps its a thing about the squash rakai. But I'm just guessing." As they entered the park, a few children ran past, chasing something that gleamed like sunlight to the nighteyed youth, with nets. "Fireflys?" he asked, squinting at the bugs being pursued. "Glow moths actually." she replied. 4 12.20

"The local insect conservation society wants some live samples of glow moths to study, I think they may be put into a local bug house for children. But it seems people are taking advantage of the request to chase down anything with wings that is 'buggy'." Cortana took the long handled net from her back and handed it off to Flare. Petunia huffed as she came up to her alpha's side. What are you doing, the net is to catch the flies, not to give to the runt child. "Petunia, that is rude to say. He's perfectly healthy now." gesturing at Flare who only glanced at the older death rakai before gripping the net. He'd never gone bug catching. He'd been so sheltered as a child. Too sick and weak to go enjoy his childhood with other children his age. It kind of burned on his insides, but he wasn't a child anymore. No longer a gimp, and no longer cursed. 5 13.20
