Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

The time had arrived, though the wait had seemed longer than it had actually been, with how long Nerius had waited to enter the drake. (He may have also come home with a hatchling at the same time, but that was beside the point.) He'd wanted to squeeze in as much last minute training for Schism as he could, but hadn't dared wait too long, paperwork could take a while to process. Nerius hadn't put off actually attending the match, however, and their opponent hadn't yet arrived when he and Schism reached the Pit. While it was certainly preferable to a last minute rush, it did make for more tense waiting. Schism was pacing the sands, admittedly more excited than tense, while Nerius managed to look more composed. But internally, he wasn't nearly as confident. With as long as it had been since sarane had been in season, he had no idea what kind of drakes, or strategies, they would be facing. Schism was one of his more well trained critters, but would it be enough? [Ready!]

So, the tournament had finally begun. Fiera couldn't help but admit it- she was thrilled. She had worked so hard at training Algol over literal months, raising him from a tiny whelp to the massive monster he was today. This was his very first fight and to her delight he seemed excited for it, ruffling his wings and shaking his head excitedly as she led him into the center of the ring. She glanced at her opponent across the ring and had to admit they looked familiar- had they had a fight in the ring before? Well, hopefully they would win this one. Fiera had to admit, she didn't like the look of that ring around her opponent's sarane's foot. Magic items were uncommon in tournaments, but she knew that they were allowed. She had no clue what it would do exactly, but she had to believe that she and Algol would persevere.

Notes
- Both Sarane can use all moves/abilities they know
- Schism goes first due to higher Dexterity

They didn't have to wait long, but Nerius wasn't exactly thrilled when he saw the other drake. Or more specifically, his horns. Nerius spared a quick glance at the other handler as well, she was familiar looking, maybe? Her drake, and the fight, were bigger priorities right then. That was unmistakably a tier three, and Schism, though he might not have fully understood what that meant, noticed as well. <His horns are bigger than mine,> Schism seemed almost offended, or was that horn envy? He wasn't threatened by them, at least, and large rack or no, he was just as eager to attack.
<Yes, he's likely to be stronger than normal too,> Nerius warned his sarane, though kept light on the details as to not discourage him, before directing, <Use roar.> Pit fighters of any species were often skilled at dodging attacks, though Schism.. lacked this skill. He could throw off his opponent at least, or so Nerius hoped, and the drake opened his jaws to let loose a bellowing roar!

Fiera glanced at her opponent again. A tier one drake. Small body, smaller horns, at least in comparison to Algol. All sarane were massive in comparison to her, of course. It had white, purple, and brown mottling, with no nasty surprises on its tail... and yet based on its body colors, she couldn't help but thing that there was more to it than met the eye. She couldn't afford to assume this would be an easy battle. She could see the other sarane rearing up now though, faster than she was expecting- how was it doing that? Fiera scrambled to give a command, not wanting Algol to get behind right off the bat. "Algol, roar!" She said. It was a common way to start a fight, and she guessed that their opponent was using it too. Hopefully, Algol could get there first. He lifted his head and opened his jaws, letting out that deafening noise.

Fiera watched with distress as her sarane failed to roar. She could practically see the stars spinning around his head, considering that she was on the opposite end of the arena from his enemy and even HER ears were ringing. He shook his head and growled loudly as he tried to recover, and Fiera quickly glanced between him and his opponent. While she had probably seen her opponent before, she didn't know them. As a result, Fiera had no clue what strategy, what technique they were going to try and use. A classic opening move, but then what? Well, Fiera would just have to match it with a classic move of her own... which was to say, she had to end this fast. And what move was more classic than the fiery breath of a dragon? "Algol, flame!" She called out as her sarane began to recover, and sparks starts flying from his mouth almost immediately as he opened it and pointed his jaws toward his opponent, his injection surging through his veins.

All their practice in the park had paid off, and Nerius was relieved to see the other drake stagger at the volume. He was far from relaxed though, the real fighting was about to start. He doubted Schism could take a head on hit from the larger drake, but with luck, he wouldn't have to. If the match had a classic start, what was about to follow was decidedly not.
<Phase out,> he instructed the purple drake though the ribbon, not wasting time on extra chatter. Schism was for once silent, and lacking his usual attitude, focused on the fight. He followed the command without hesitation, and with only a short flicker, disappeared from sight. He was still there, of course, it was only an illusion, and he wasn't truly safe from harm. Nerius clicked his nails nervously on the railing, the larger drake was moving, likely to attack, and he could only hope whatever it was would fail without a clear visual.
