The River's Bend- a place where Morgan had not been since childhood. They used to come here with their father, all muddy-boots and smiles, and of course Morgan never caught a thing. One time, while they were swimming, their father tied a tiny sun-perch to their line that he had caught and Morgan caught him doing it. Of course, laughter and plenty of prodding jokes had ensued, and it had become a bit of an inside joke after that between them.
The sun falls through the wind-dancing golden and red autumn leaves and onto the ground in shimmering dapples. Morgan walks down a special path (now a little grown-up, but they'd get someone to take a machete to it at some point) with a backpack full of supplies. After a while, they catch sight of the bend in the river, the place where they planned to go fishing. A small Sarane is in their arms, thankfully asleep.

The little hen that they had brought was 'Pipi'- a mustard-yellow critter that Morgan had traded for recently. Of course, they weren't entirely sure what would come from the egg, other than the fact that it was a hen, and that it was from a brown hen that had a strange marking on it. They still had no idea if Pipi was going to have that marking when her hide would develop as an adult, but they were hoping that she would make a good mate for a specific dominant drake at some point. She was a pretty golden-hide of a critter, and with luck, it would not be related to said drake.
She was silent for now. That was probably the best outcome, since sarane generally started out quite distrusting. They were not at all like houluh, and did not aim to please. Luckily for Morgan, Pipi was still asleep by the time they made it to the little beach they intended to fish off of.

Morgan kneels down on the nearest large rock, and places their backpack down. They pull out their fishing items, of which there were not many, and place them around. They had a small bucket of liver that was quite cheap to be used on their hooks. The bucket of livers was closed for now, since they stank. They quietly wrapped little Pipi up in a blanket from their backpack, and put her on top of the rock all comfy. It was a little cool out, so they weren't too concerned about the effect of the sun's warmth on the rock. Morgan takes the net, and hangs it over the water from the purchase of the rock. They sat down on the rock, and hung their legs off of the side, dangling over the water. They weren't sure how many of anything they'd find today- it was the dry season, and that didn't bode well.

The wet season sometimes had rather dangerous critters in the water, but the dry season had some more... Well, smaller and more interesting ones? Though they did seem a little rarer, at least to Morgan. They weren't really sure if they wanted to find any big critters today, so they had their fingers metaphorically crossed to avoid them. They didn't have time to fight with a big critter while they had Pipi here. She wouldn't be resting the entire time. She was just tired right now, because she hadn't hatched too long ago, and she was still a little exhausted. She seemed to be in good health according to the checkup Morgan gave her, so this little trip should be fine. With any luck, they'd catch a few small fishes, and get Pipi used to them at the same time.
They had just been too nervous to take her out to the Mansion, so fishing it was!

Pipi wakes up, and rolls over. She finds herself wrapped up in some kind of thing and it frightens her at first! She squeaks and rolls around. She only manages to wrap herself up worse before finding herself looking at this strange being. She recognized the being- someone that she saw after she hatched. Strange. They weren't in an area that she recognized at all. Everything was bright and there were so many smells! She squeaks again, but remains wrapped up. After a moment or two, the large being turns around and gently reaches towards her, patting her on the head. She wasn't sure whether to snap at the hand or be lulled to sleep at first, but she decided on snapping. She took a snap at the air, scarcely missing the hand, and then cuddled back into the blanket more. She makes a sharp hissing type sound from beneath her little cozy hideout.

Morgan had another fishing trip planned, this time a very short one with Squee. Squee was a relatively new addition to Morgan's little family, and while she was getting more used to the mansion, Morgan wanted her to become a more well-rounded individual as well. What better idea than to bring the delicate but feisty little critter out to the river bend? What was the worst that could happen? The human carries little Squee in their backpack as they walk, and needless to say, the young one was NOT HAPPY with that development. She opens her mouth WIDE, TOO WIDE, and produces a horrid HONK to voice her displeasure in the situation. As Morgan tromps through the little thicket nearby the river while searching for the perfect spot to fish, they tsk in reply to the honks. "T-chill Squee, chill out." They chastised her. "I know y-you're hungry, give me a moment."

The absolutely infernal honking continues despite Morgan's attempts to console the displeased tailypo, and Morgan begins to wonder if maybe they were completely off of their rocker for unleashing these absolutely nightmarish beasts upon the city. Of course, they were small and weak and cute... And they were great at fixing the City's very small trash problem with their voracious appetites, but did they really have to make them so persistently loud? Morgan chuckles at theirself, and then nearly trips over a rock because they closed their eyes to do so. This did seem to jostle Squee just the slightest amount and make her hush for a moment though, and Morgan made the best out of the moment of peace and moved a bit faster. The nice bend in the river should be just nearby, just around this little corner...
It was the dry season, and when Morgan's eyes fell upon the bank, they were reminded of why they didn't really like fishing in the dry season as much.

There was still a goodly amount of mud around. There had been a lot of snowy weather recently, and thankfully it was finally beginning to melt. Despite that, the mud was very uncomfortable looking. Perhaps they should have thought this over better before coming. It was going to be a very short trip due to this, even shorter than they had originally planned. It was still chilly outside for Morgan's comfort, and they were sure to make sure that little Squee was going to be sitting in the backpack most of the time (where they had balled up some clothing for her to warm up). However, it was finally above freezing for some definite amount of time and Morgan was thankful for that. The winter was not Morgan's favorite.
The human selects a rock that was thankfully dry and near the edge of the long-reaching dry season bank, and tries not to slip in the mud on the way there.

Despite their best efforts, Morgan slips in the mud more than a couple of times, though they manage no to completely fall. This did not please Squee in the slightest, who voiced her displeasure at this new development even LOUDER than she had before. Finally, Morgan makes their way to the rock, clambers on, and then turns back to look at their tracks in the mud. They frowned slightly, tried not to chuckle at their own inability to do anything gracefully sometimes, and then they took the backpack off of their back. They placed the backpack down on the rock, propped up so that Squee could see, and then began pulling their tools out of the side pockets. They weren't sure if they were going to use the fishing pole today because it would take so long to get it ready. Morgan sighed as they grabbed the net instead. "Well Squee, I dunno i-if we should have even come out ta-today." Morgan said, trying to console the loud little one.

Morgan's voice did little to nothing to console Squee, who wanted OUT of the backpack so that she could undoubtedly wreck some mayhem on some unsuspecting something or another. She was a right terror at home, Morgan knew, and they were hoping that as time went on that Squee would chill out some. Calavera Tailypo were not supposed to be like Squee was; she was a little bit of an accident. She would never have been okay to send to a customer since her personality was a little bit flawed, but Morgan was anything if not a responsible person (in their own eyes at least). That was why Squee was with them, of all of their creations. Morgan could tell that Squee was hungry, so before they really got down to trying to fish in the muddy water, they grabbed the treat bag for Squee that they had brought. They were anything if unprepared!

Whenever Squee caught sight of the treat bag, she absolutely freaked out. Alternating between honks and squees, and opening her too-wide mouth even wider... Morgan probably would have been freaked out if they hadn't designed them to be this way. They wondered exactly how popular this particular creature even was? Were people expecting the tiniest little cutest kittens, or something worse? They were really curious about how easily the general populace could be tricked by the deceptive never-endingly hungry species. The absolute bottomless pits! Morgan pulls a treat or two out of the pouch (in this case, little pieces of cooked chicken that were soft) and then tosses one towards the slightly restrained Squee. Squee's mouth opens, and down goes the treat into the gullet of the beast. "G-goodness, y'all are some scary little pieces of work." Morgan chides her, tilting their head at her. They didn't even ask her if she wanted another, of course she did.

A second treat was presented to the small Tailypo, and tossed in to her mouth as well. Morgan shakes their head and grumbles "Insatiable beasts." before turning their attention to the river itself. They hadn't been out in a while. Perhaps they needed to go on another trip in the rainy season with Endymion? They really did enjoy fishing with him. However, they decided that after this short trip, they certainly would not be doing another trip during this particular dry season again. There was too much mud for their personal tastes, at least. One would think that the 'dry season' would truly be dry!
They spent some small amount of time fiddling about in the water, going after smaller fish that were left in the much diminished stream of the dry season river. They missed most of them, mostly because Squee was absolutely refusing to be quiet. At least she was aptly nick-named!
