She watched as the sun toed around the shallows, ready to help should he struggle. An amused smile curled up her mouth he tried, then backed out. It didn't seem like it was much suited for him. Shame.. But she understood. And it made her happy that he tried. Even if it was a little confusing knowing he had some affinity for water in a way. The sun could make rain, but could not brave the depths. Made sense, she thought.
The sudden philosophical question caught get off guard. She tilted her head, considering Tristan's words carefully. Why did he want to know? Curiosity, perhaps? What does a lonesome dragoness, swimming in the middle of a secluded pond want from life.. Purple eyes stared hard at the bright scaled one, trying to discern his intent.
"I'll tell you if you tell me how you would answer that first", she finally responded, her own answer in mind. A testing smile rested on her snout as she circled around the waters edge.

He laughed a little, turned it around on him, now did she? He thought for a moment and laid down, sunning himself on his back in the brightness of the outdoors. "Well, I want something that's mine, I guess? Everyone has someone at the cave, but my sister does her own thing and I don't seem to have much to go on right now. I've not found a purpose yet, and it bothers me," Tristan finally answered truthfully with a wry smile. Part of him really hadn't wanted to answer that, but he knew if he wanted to know, then he had to pay as well, and if that's what was needed, well... He could pay that price, she figured.
Eyes on the female, he smiled again and then laid his head on his forepaws. "So, what do you want?" came his teasing voice, a sparkle in his eyes for now.

What a strange answer. Wanting something that's yours..? It seemed a bit vague. Akinai thought over his response, thinking it more literally at first. "If you want something, claim it. Uncontested, that might make it yours", she teased with a light laugh, "Though it may not give you purpose that way." She had the feeling he meant it differently than literal, but her quip could be taken the same. Regardless, it was an interesting answer to say the least. Now, it was her turn. The dragoness swam to the waters edge and perched her upper body on land, propping her head against her hand.
"Truthfully, my answer to that changes. Normally its happiness. Cliche, yes..", she started, thoughtfully tossing her head, "None too long ago, I desired company. I live by myself.. So it is awfully difficult to not feel too lonesome." A saddened sigh passed her before she resumed, "It was nice to have someone to sing to for once. I may want an audience from life now, even if only an audience of one."

So she was alone. Tristan looked down for a moment or two and then looked back up at her. It seemed odd to give her something that might work out, but it meant she needed to agree to it as well, and he didn't know how to bridge that offer. Shaking his head, he smiled and then shrugged, "That seems noble enough, not to be alone. Our cave is big enough and crowded enough that I long to be alone, like I tried to be today before I stumbled across you and your singing. I almost... don't want it to be over, I guess?" He frowned a moment and then sighed a little before stepping into the water again and then sniffing it a bit as well.
"I wouldn't mind keeping you company, you know, we could set something up a few times a week and we'll do that?" he offered with a small smile. His way of seizing what he desired, he supposed.

It felt odd, admitting her wishes. Somehow though.. She didn't mind exposing that to Tristan. Purple gazed at him as he seemed to give what she said some thought, wondering what he might think or say. Was it silly? Simple? The moments passing before he spoke again made her oddly nervous. But his words, oh. A surprised look crossed her face for a brief moment, though she tried her best to hide it away. He.. liked her singing that much? If her turquoise scales could blush, they would. And her heart fluttered at the thought of being able to see him again. To sing to the living sun. Akinai withdrew her eyes from his form, a bit flustered. The offer wasn't bold, but it almost too perfectly felt like it fulfilled her wish. But it worked for the both of them; he could hear her song and she would have her song be heard.
"The thought of that is lovely.. I'd like that.. To see you again", she meekly replied, looking back over to him again, "I was wondering though, what did you think of my song?"

"I thought it was lovely! You do a very good job, and I can't wait to see you again and hear you sing again," Tristan said, somewhat forcefully. It startled him, the fervor with which he said it, and he paused for a moment before giving a small laugh, "Of course you could always turn me down, and... well... I'm glad you want to see me again, I'd love to see you again as well." He tilted his head and then smiled again, wading in a little further into the water, trying it once again to see what was going on at the moment.
He would try again, for her, and she had promised he wouldn't drown, so there was that. Closing his eyes tightly, he pushed into the water a little further and floundered a bit, splashing at the water to see if he could save himself a little. He had to trust Akinai though, and he did, definitely.

A warm chuckle escaped her, hearing the dragon's boisterous response. It made her much happier than she expected, her eyes twinkling. How could she turn him away? Happening upon someone who liked her and her singing enough to want to meet again wasn't something that'd ever happened before. But now that it had.. Yes, she wanted this again. It made her heart lurch again, thinking of it. Akinai steered herself close to Tristan, watching carefully over his movements as he attempted to entered her watery domain again.
"Stay calm, the water does not fight", she advised gently, "If you wish to brave it, let me help.." Avoiding his flailing claws, she offered her arms forward to catch him, giving him something to rest on. Granted, he was larger than she was, it was almost an intimidating prospect.. But her powerful tail was more than enough to let her support herself and another in the waters, as long as they didn't falter.

Tristan took a deep breath as she came to him and let him rest on her. She was smaller than he was, but not by a terrible much. More deep breaths, he knew that things would be alright with Akinai, they had to be. He closed his eyes for a moment, bright green eyes, and then they opened once more to see her in front of him, and he smiled a little, wondering what could be better than this. Usually it would be the other way around, a male saving a female, but with such strong females in his cave, he knew that didn't matter at all! Leaning forward as she drew near and settled him on her arm, he attempted to nuzzle against her neck. This was nice, and he wondered how she would react to his advances. No matter what, he would try to win her over, at least a little bit, and he smiled again, hoping that things would go well.

She caught the sun in the water.
How marvelous was that? Still, a stroke of nervousness crossed her heart. Nervous to have him close. Nervous to fail him if she somehow faltered. But there was also this lurch that excited her, having him in her grasp. The dragon was warm, but not fiery like the flaming ball in the sky. And he was large, but the water did most of the work supporting his heft. The weight that remained for her to balance was enough to make her tail sweep powerfully to keep them afloat.. It was odd, trying to balance another using her own strength. It took a bit of adjusting, drawing him closer to herself. It almost surprised her, as he nestled himself against her heck. The gesture was returned, in part to steady their balance.
Slowly, she steered steered away from the waters edge, drifting into the center of the pond. "Some days, I could float here for hours..", Akinai whispered, leaning gently against him.

Bobbing a little in the water, supported by Akinai, Tristan was thrilled. He'd always wanted to feel water cover him for a few moments, though not enough to drown or anything too intense, but still, it was rather soothing, and he hoped that everything would turn out well. Smiling, he felt her nuzzle into him as well, and he wondered what they would do together in the future. This was the wonderful beginning to something interesting, and he hoped they really would see each other again, not just say that they would and then never again.
"I could see how you could. You love the water so much don't you?" he asked her with another smile as he looked at her. He wished he could smooth down the frill on her back, but he was afraid he would be too forward by doing that. It was a challenge, but he truly did enjoy her company.

"Naturally", she hummed with soft look of appreciation on her face.
An affinity for water and living within its graces were a trademark of her kind. Children of Thalassa, the rare few that they were.. Even if she could not fly, being able to near effortlessly cut through the water fulfilled that same feeling. Yet, there was another feeling here. Her heart fluttered. Having his company here, even entering her domain despite initial aversion.. She was beginning to enjoy him as much as she did her own element. Was it strange? Even for such a short time, it was feeling like he could understand. Akinai couldn't help but to be smitten. Her song began again, gently, singing to her audience of one within her embrace. The thing that brought them together.
Even if they would meet again, she wanted to stay here with him, like this..
Just for a little while longer.
