> Akinai, alone..
"A misty summer day, a shallow spring pool. A gentle breeze flows, and nothing to do.." The dragoness sang to herself in the center of the natural spring, slowly waving her arms at the surface to create small waver in the blue-tinged water. Somber purple eyes kept track of the tiny ripples, watching as they collided and shimmered.
Sigh..
"Dreams of ocean waves under skies so blue.. A gentle breeze sings, and nothing to do." The gentle singing continued as Akinai waded around the pool, effortlessly drifting in circles. This was a frequent enough occurrence for the dragoness - finding a place to drift away without a care in the world. There were few responsibilities she held, after all. Her cavern home was vacant, save for herself. Her hobbies were few, aside from light reading every now and again. Days spent drifting.. Days spent wasted. It didn't bother her much, if she was truthful. But it was boring. Adventuring wasn't in her, but day dreaming was. And so she dreamed on, singing her thoughts away.

He heard... singing? That was different, usually this area was abandoned, but for some reason the singing compelled him closer, and so he trod closer to the pool and peered around a large boulder, staring at the lovely Draconicess wading in the area. He stared for a bit, unsure of what to do, but listened to the song for a little while, hoping she wouldn't notice him. His front claws pulled at the boulder a little and he found himself slowly climbing in order to lay on top of the rock and sun himself, listening to her sing. The others didn't really sing, they hadn't inherited a good voice from many of their ancestors, and the ones who did sing usually didn't around him for some reason. Tristan, however, was always entranced when someone around him sang, and he stared a little longer before a few rocks slid off the top of the boulder and skidded into the little pond. 2/25

"Hea-vens whisk me away, to some place, to some where, to a new day~" The dragoness let the words flow, holding notes at the end of verses. Her singing continued a while longer, voice clear and clean for her audience of one, unbeknownst to her. Gently, her body circled around the pool of water, powered by the careful wavers of her tail. Her purple eyes remained focused on the ripples and waves she created. Until, a shimmering reflection of yellow-orange caught her attention- staring at it for a moment until it dawned on her that it wasn't part of the natural scenery.
The singing stopped. Her eyes flicked up to the find the owner of the reflection, tracing along the gnarled trees and vines.. There, a glint of brilliant yellow atop a boulder. Akinai froze, taken aback and feeling oddly exposed. Someone's there? How long had they been there? Oh, they must've heard..
"H-hello? Who's there?", she sheepishly called out after taking a moment to compose her self.

Tristan yelped and stumbled, falling off the boulder unceremoniously and toppled to the ground. He covered his bright eyes with his tail for a few moments as he tried to compose himself and then peered out from behind it. "Sorry, your singing was lovely and I didn't want to interrupt," the Draconic said sheepishly, flicking a rock away with a foreclaw. "I, um, I'm Tristan, who are you?" he asked, tilting his head and finally sitting up and attempting a smile. Things would be fine, he told himself, but for now... he just needed to calm down and figure out who she was and how she had such a lovely voice. "Like I said, your singing is great, I just wanted to listen, I'm sorry..." he said again and then sighed, slumping down a little. He really hoped he hadn't bothered her too much with his interruption and all that. That would be the worst part of it all.

A blink. And another hard blink as she witnessed the spy come tumbling to the ground. Her face went from startled to shocked, then to failing at hold back laughter. Clawed fingers reached up to cover what of her upturned snout that they could as she steered herself to the edge of the pool. Were they ok..? The giggles quelled enough for her to hear the dragon speak, but it was his words that stopped them altogether. Her eyes widened and sparkled. He.. Liked her singing? "It's ok.. Tristan", she started, mulling on his name for a moment, "Though, you should know you make for a lousy spy." A light laugh accompanied her playful banter. Now, she'd never had an audience before. Nobody else at her cavern home to sing to except for herself.. She was much too shy to up and go sing at a more public place, so as far as she knew, no one knew or cared for her songs. So she wasn't really sure how to feel about this, except maybe bit embarrassed yet flattered. A gentle smile lingered on her muzzle.
She decided to formally invite her audience to the concert, "I am Akinai. I.. Don't think I mind if you'd like to stay and listen a while longer, if you'd like."

For some strange reason, his heart leapt whenever she said his name. That was different, and he shook his head, trying not to think about it for now. He took a step forward and then laughed himself, well, he did make a lousy spy, and he knew it. "Yeah, you'd think I would be better with the cave as big as ours," Tristan said with a smile and then sat again, aware of the situation a little bit, "The others are more... science and magic types, not the type to sing, so it's nice to hear, you know?"
It didn't occur him that she might not have others in her cave, and that what he was saying might hurt her or come out as rude, it wasn't occurring to him at all. "If you're willing to let me listen, of course I will... Akinai," he told her, albeit a little shyly this time.

Careful purple eyes observed the brilliantly colored dragon as he approached, looking him up and down. He was like the sun.. Her soft stare lingered on his crest for longer than she thought, almost missing his words. Something about others? Sounded like he had a busy family.. She thought herself jealous for a moment, as it would've been nice to have others around at home. At least, maybe it would be. She wasn't really sure, when she gave it a bit more thought. The drake before her now was the first company that she had in a long while. It was a nice change from usual, even considering his grand entry.
Part of her was happy to have someone willingly listen, but another part was nervous about the idea. What if she was too pitchy? Or choked? And she was feeling like she had to impress him. So that he'd stay longer.. Akinai averted her eyes, looking back to the ripples in the water in hesitation. Taking a moment to gather herself.. And then, singing began again.
"Clouds in path have been parted with grace, taking the chance, re-veal-ing a new face."

After stretching out much like a cat, his glittering green eyes on Akinai for a moment, he then laid down and closed his eyes so he could reach out with his ears and listen a little better to the song. Sighing quietly, he drifted off into her perfect voice, a smile on his face, hoping she would never fade away. One eye finally cracked open and he smiled a little as he thought about her. He'd never really seen one like her, with fins like that, and she was so dark and lovely, she stood out in the clear water of the pond. She tugged at him somehow, and he wasn't sure what to feel right now.
Part of him didn't want it to ever end, and part of him was scared to think of what would happen if he was there much longer, but he was willing to take a chance. Her voice, like her herself, was absolutely lovely, and part of him didn't want to lose that at all.

Akinai drifted out into the center of the water while she sang, letting the words flow in a melodic trance. Truthfully, she made up the words as she went. Normally, her songs would be about the sky and its inhabitants or weather and nature. At night, she sang of the moon and stars, her wishes to fly among the cosmos.. At day, the lyrics detailed her dreams of exploring the world, rhyming about the oceans and wilderness beyond this land. Which, is what she was singing about until this fateful encounter with the dragon, Tristan..
The singing now told a tale of shimmering scales and a visage that shined like the sun. Occasionally, her eyes drifted back to peer at her audience as he rested, gathering more to say about his appearance.. How odd was it to sing about someone you just met..? Her lyrics were vague, nested in similes and metaphors, so not to be purely blatant about it. But the hints were obvious. Listening closely enough might even reveal how alluring she found his company to be.

Tristan's head weaved from side to side like a snake's to the tempo of the music, and his eyes snapped open after a little while. Bigger than the female, he could... No, that wasn't right. He stared for a moment and stood up, shaking like a dog and then strode forward and touched the water. Healer, he was a healer, but also... There were two sides to every storm, and he turned his back to the female for a moment, and closed his eyes again, brewing up a vision of the sun and what it stood for.
Him.
Was it him? It would make sense, wouldn't it? Glancing behind him, he stared for a moment and then smiled before conjuring an image of the sun in front of them both, dark clouds rolling in under them and toward the water. There was always a calm before the storm, and he wasn't the storm, but he could protect her from whatever came.

Drifting again in the waters, Akinai sang her heart out. The melody started to quell as she began steering the lyrics toward describing her thoughts on his personality. 'Like a meteorite falling from the moon' were her lyrics to tell how he fell from the rock, though putting it much more gracefully than the clumsiness she witnessed. Aside from that.. Well, she didn't know much about this stranger, did she? A couple of thoughtful blinks passed her face before she decided to turn her attention back toward Tristan, who was by the waters edge at this point.
The song paused, for now. The dragoness dove into the pool, disappearing into the watery blue. The shallow depths were her element, and she swam effortlessly toward the golden dragon. In a few moments, she popped her head out of the water with a gentle splash just before him. "Say.. Do you know how to swim?", she announced her opening line.

Swim? He paused in his illusion and it dropped immediately. He'd never been asked that, did any of his cave know how to swim? That was something he was going to have to look in to. Staring, he shook his head, "No, but I like the idea of water, I guess? I can summon water, at least." Tristan closed his eyes and then opened his mouth, a strong current of water rushed out of it and into the pond. Smiling a little after he was finished, he delicately wiped his mouth and looked apologetic, "Sorry about that..."
What was it about this female that made him want to show off a little? He toed into the water a little and sniffed at it, he was aligned to the water but couldn't swim? How did that make sense? Looking at Akinai shyly, he worded delicately, "You look lovely in the water, like you were born for it. Could you show me?" Of all of his intelligence, there were a few things that eluded him, which bothered him to no end. Apparently this was what it took to make him realize how little he knew of the world still.

Curious purple eyes were fixated on the brilliantly colored dragon, eager to learn more about him. Normally she was reserved, none too interested in others like this.. But he did stay and listen to her singing. It was nice. He seemed nice. He was captivating. She's barely noticed the images he conjured, but when the odd change in scenery suddenly disappeared it did catch her eye. Did he do that..? She opened her mouth to ask, but Tristan's sudden stream of water from his mouth alarmed her for a moment. Then, she laughed, flashing a toothy grin.
"Summoning and swimming are two different things", she said between giggles with a shake of her head, "And thank you.. I do feel quite at home in the waters.. If you are not afraid, it is much easier than it looks!" The dragoness drifted backward, inviting him in and allowing some space for him to enter the pond if he so desired. How would the sun fare within the water?
"I'll not let you drown, I promise."

Tristan eyed the water skeptically. He wasn't sure this would work out, he was only good for walking, it seemed. Frowning, he put a paw into the water and then used his tail as a type of rudder for a moment, keeping his back fringe above water as best as he could. Attempting to wade a little, it didn't seem to work, and he was immediately out of the water again and shaking off. "I think this might be your domain, Akinai..." Tristan said with a sad tone to his voice. How he loved the water, but he wasn't quite attuned to it, not like the Draconicess it seemed. Still though, seeing her in the water was tempting...
"What is it you want from life, Akinai?" came the sudden question, prying and without any subtlety, he didn't really seem to care too much that it wasn't polite to ask that sort of thing. Tristan curled his tail around him as he spoke, sitting at the edge of the water as he tilted his head.
