Xentus was nice, there was no denying that. He'd been in that man's care for a while now. Usually, he was left alone, and while he didn't mind.. It did get lonely. Occasionally, the man would take him on an outing, trying to engage him. Sometimes he let himself enjoy it. Other times, not so much. It depended on his mood - he was allowed to be fickle. And today, he was feeling secretive. He did agree to go with the leopard to get here, if only to get some fresh air. He didn't even know they'd come to this wonderful place. The fae slowly walked through the tall grass, getting a baring on his surroundings. A strange looking.. Floaty.. Thing caught his eye. And he was going to go over and investigate, if not for the loud footfalls which signaled the leopard's return. Haru did his best to look unassuming, perching himself atop a stone.

Xentus looked around for the tiny fae, carefully examining betwixt the overgrowth. Such small things were so hard to find in this mess of a garden. Surely, the fae knew he was looking for them. Ah, where could he be hiding. If he even was hiding. The harachiu wasn't on that mushroom anymore, obviously. His best guess was that the little fae wandered off to explore a bit. Presumably, he wouldn't get very far very fast on those small legs.. But he didn't seem to be anywhere around where the leopard last saw him.
"Haru? Where have you gone, Haru?", the leopard asked aloud as he scanned the ground. Haru's ears flicked toward the calls of the mammalian man, but he ignored them. Hidden in plain sight, he didn't feel the need to respond. If that man needed something of him, he was right here. He only needed to look harder.

Honestly, if that man was going to bumble about, he could go and explore some more. He wanted to see that floaty grey thing. Still ignoring the calls, Haru slid off the rock and stalked through the tall grass toward a lola hovering about the pond. What a strange creature. It was so.. Big. Of course, everything was big when you stood barely eight inches tall. Haru was mystified as the lola curiously floated toward this intruder to the pond. Their eyes met, briefly.. But the approach of the leopard warded the floating creature away.
"Haru?", the mammalian called out once again. He stepped carefully about the pond, towering over the small shrub that the harachiu choose to duck into. "Have you seen, Haru, Kyo?" , he asked the lola, who was innocently floating away. The leopard's blue eyes trailed its path over the water, watching as it curled itself atop a lily pad. It revealed none of its secrets.

"Haru! Come on out, little Haru", the leopard chimed, switching to a more melodic tone of voice an an attempt to lure the harachiu out. He wasn't sure what would work at this point. Hide and go seek was a fun game when all players agreed to play it. Xentus wasn't opposed to such a thing, if he could establish that the fae was actually still nearby.. Ah, what it he ran away? A frown curled the leopard's lip, disturbed by the thought. He knew little about harachiu, but he did know that they were secretive beings that wouldn't be opposed to disappearing without a trace. The maammalian sauntered off, leaving the pond to search elsewhere. Meanwhile, Haru could finally breathe. The man was practically towering over him. Funny how he didn't think to look down. The fae let out a mischievous chuckle once the coast was clear. His mismatched eyes looked over the water, wishing for the lola to come back over..

The strange floaty creature seemed to be content where it was, unfortunately for the little harachiu. Haru's face puckered into a pout. He would call for the thingy if not for the fact that he was trying to evade the mammalian for as long as he could.. He stared at the lola for a while longer, as if that would rouse it from its little nap. For a moment, it seemed to stir.. And peeked up at him! No.. It was looking at the water?
Haru's eyes traced to the surface of the pond, where he noticed a darkened shadow rise from the depths. A chilling touch of fear raced down his spine as his mind jumped to the worst - a monster. A frightened squeak escaped the fae, desperate to escape but his legs wouldn't move..
"Haru? Was that you?", the leopard called out, turned back toward the pond, "Haru?" There was little choice for the harachiu - reveal himself and be saved or face the monster's wrath..

The fae bit his lip, eyes plastered forward as the monster rose from the pool. His tiny legs begged for him to run for safety behind the leopard's bulk, but he was frozen. He willed his legs to move, desperate to escape before it was too late. The monster's slick head erupted from the water's surface, a black crown of spikes and long tendrils decorating its terrifying visage. And its pitch black eyes were staring directly back at his. R-run! He tore away his sight from the giant creature and fled toward the leopard, wings buzzing in a feeble attempt to flutter away.
"Oh, Haru", the leopard started, watching as the harachiu appeared from the tall grass by the pond. His next words were about to question where the tiny being had been, but he noticed the fright on his face. His eyes trailed the path that the fae fled from, stopping upon a confused looking lotine.

As much as he wanted to laugh, he wasn't the kind to make light of another's fear. And he was more relieved to see the harachiu than anything else anyway. The leopard set down his basket and knelt down to offer the fae his hand. He.. Wasn't too sure how to console Haru, but he figured any kind of comfort would work.
"There, there, Haru. Xentus is here", the mammalian gently cooed, "Is Haru alright?" The harachiu used his hand to hide under, seeming unwilling to take up physical comfort. But he felt better knowing the big cat-man would be between himself and the monster, should it have given chase.. He was too afraid to look back. His mismatched eyes looked up at the leopard's, receiving his kind gaze in return. Maybe he should've come over to the mammalian sooner.. But it was so fun exploring. How was he to know that monsters lived here?

"This one apologizes for Valii giving you a startle, Haru", the leopard gently said to the fae as he settled himself into a more comfortable seated position, "She means no harm, Xentus is sure. However, there are quite a few creatures that live here, Haru. Little faes must take caution." Though none of the creatures that lived in the garden were dangerous in particular, they could be quite intimidating when one stands just over hand-high. The only one that might be less frightening for such a small fae would be either the lola or the mussimander. Or perhaps the bellaroxi, but given that they could sting, they weren't the best candidate to introduce the harachiu to. The leopard made a mental note to acclimate Haru with the potentially frightening creatures of the garden. But for now, how about some food?
"Haru? Might you be hungry?", the leopard asked. He pulled a diced strawberry from his basket and offered it to the fae.

The tight-lipped fairy offered no word to the leopard.. But his eyes told another story. The mismatched pair stared hard at the offered fruit, and after a moment, quick little fingers plucked the strawberry away. The sweet taste of the fruit was almost enough to wash away his concerns about monsters lurking about.. Almost. The harachiu was on guard, pointed black ears flicking about at any little sound they heard. Most was simply leaves rustling in the wind. But after a moment, the sound of more intense rustling caught his attention. The fairy stopped mid chew as something emerged from the overgrowth. A.. A m-monster!
The leopard sat there confused for a moment as Haru ducked to hide under his hand again, but his keen ears heard it too. His eyes soon followed to see something unexpected. Not a resident of his garden as he thought, but a visitor. He'd never seen a creature like this before. But with it standing just over knee-high, it didn't seem threatening. A serendipitous learning chance, perhaps.
"Don't be frightened, Haru. Look, this one will show that there is nothing to fear", the leopard quietly addressed the harachiu, then turned his attention to the koguma, "Greetings, visitor. Interested in adding a strawberry to your collection there?" Xentus plucked a strawberry from his basket and held it out in an open palm to the creature. His blue eyes, though gentle, looked only through peripheral vision at the strange thing. He didn't want to scare it.

The koguma seemed to be in its own world, because it startled at the sound of the person's voice, and jumped behind the nearest rock! Even so... it got the scent of the strawberries, and its mandibles clicked. More fruits? It couldn't decide if it should take it...

"Ah, see, Haru? It is more scared of us than you of it", the leopard gently assured the harachiu. His eyes moved from staring at the ground to the fae hiding under his hand. Haru's little fingers clutched the thin fur as he peeked around to see where the monster went. It took him a moment to hone in on the twig-like antennae that moved awkwardly, poking out over the rock. The monster was.. Hiding? Monsters were supposed to be scary, not scared. The fae gulped and continued to stare, uncertain of what it might do..
"This one has an idea. Haru, be brave and take this strawberry to it", the leopard whispered to the fairy, offering the relatively large fruit to him, "Our visitor might think this one a bit too intimidating.. But a small fae may be more approachable." Haru.. Didn't like the sound of this. It was still big and scary.. Whatever it was. But, it was scared too. The harachiu took a moment to reason out this plan internally, then with a quivering hand, took the hefty red fruit from the leopard and gingerly tip-toed toward the rock.

Wow, what a small creature! The koguma was not scared of this one, no. Especially since it held out such a yummy looking fruit for its collection! It happily accepted the strawberry and stepped closer; perhaps it would end up wanting more tribute...
[Congratulations, you have successfully tamed the creature!]

Haru's heart raced faster with each step closer to the rock. His legs trembled.. He reassured himself that the terrible monster wasn't frightening.. That it was not going to eat him. It.. It might eat the strawberry, though. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't realize he already was in full view of the koguma. The creature clicked its mandibles, head tilting as its eyes lay upon the fae and its offering. Its spindly fingers took the strawberry right from the harachiu's hands - an action that sent shivers down the fairy's spine. It.. The monster was in full view. Those large, orange-red eyes.. They didn't blink. He watched, terrified as it bit into the strawberry, smearing the juicy red interior about its mouth. It look liked.. B-blood. It was all too much for the fae to bear, he shut his eyes hard and turned away to run for the comfort of the leopard's palm.
