Nadia wasn’t expecting to be back at the breeding centre quite so soon, but she wasn’t complaining about an opportunity to see Jack. She was in a good mood as she approached the building, with a bit more of a pep in her step than usual; it helped to know she was going somewhere familiar with someone she trusted. In step with her was Gelert. He, on the other hand, was less excited - he went with his woman because it was his duty, not because he was thrilled. He sniffed at the doors when they reached them, and gave her a strange look. Other houluh had been here. “Please, do not look so stricken,” She teased. The receptionist was quick to hand her the paperwork, and she began to scribble her details in while she waited on Jack and her matronne. “This will be fun, I swear to you.” [1]

Another breeding so soon? Jack could certainly handle that! She whistled as she and Genie walked toward the Breeding Center, the little Houluh bounding next to her almost as they went. She knew what this place meant, the woman didn't need to explain it to her! The Houluh happily walked alongside her, a prance to her step as they got to the Center, and the woman opened the door to let Genie in first. She smiled a little when she saw Nadia, and her eyes widened when she saw her Patronne. That was...!
"Hey Nadia! That's one of Red's, isn't he?" Jack asked excitedly as she walked over, Genie at her heels still. She was a durable Houluh, and Jack knew she would be fine, she'd given her some lovely pups before and she knew that everything would be fine. Of course she had only been bred to another Zephyr, so this was going to be a little different, but still great!

Nadia smiled, delighted, when Jack came in. Perfect timing - her nerves were about to creep back into action! Gelert turned immediately, eyeballing the newcomers... but did nothing to make a show of himself. His human wasn’t reacting negatively, so he wouldn’t either. Instead, he sat. “Greetings, Jack! Yes, this is Gelert,” Nadia explained, patting the patronne on the head. “Just beautiful, isn’t he? And your stunning lady must be Genie!” The special breeds of houluh were wonderful to look at! She didn’t have any herself, but enjoyed seeing them out and about. So very different from the natural, earthy colours that dominated her kennel! Gelert did try to mind his own business, but couldn’t help looking at the matronne. She was... different. In a good way? He wasn’t sure yet. Just different. He didn’t try to initiate any contact... for the moment, watching would suffice. [3]

Genie's tail wagged furiously when she saw Gelert and she trotted over and immediately began to sniff at his sides a little, trying to learn what she could from him for now. It was always fun meeting a new Houluh, and if this place was the same, then they would leave with a new puppy! It would be prudent for them to be friendly with each other, right? She woofed under her breath and then smiled over at Nadia, her eyes squinting a little and teeth showing in a grin.
"He really is! He'll have to meet up with his sister again sometime, Holmes is... quite the character," Jack said with a chuckle and then reached out to pat Genie on the head, "Yeah, this is Genie! She's... interesting at least." She was excited to see what this breeding was going to give them, and she hoped that Nadia was excited as well for that matter.

Nadia couldn’t resist reaching out to pet Genie’s head. Houluh ears were so soft and silky! Any opportunity to stroke them had to be taken. Once she had gotten her fill of affection, she held out the paperwork for Jack to complete. “Here you go... standard fare,” She said, and then nodded, with a little laugh. “I would love for him to see her! And for me to meet her, of course. I have no doubt that she is equally as pretty. They must have been a beautiful litter... I am hoping that those good genes will pass down to these puppies.” Gelert was stock still as Genie performed her inspections. What... was he supposed to do, here? She wasn’t from their kennel. He supposed it wouldn’t hurt him to investigate a little closer... his nose twitched as he sniffed at the matronne. Hmm. He was wondering what he was doing there. [5]

"Gotcha!" Jack said with a smile and took the paperwork. She filled it in and then handed it back over to the attendant with a smile. "I hope they turn out reddish at least, it'll be nice to see the coloring pass down. I'm still shocked that Red is, well, red, honestly, his parents are black and brown!" she exclaimed, laughing. Luna and Nico were indeed black and brown, though Luna did have red points... Hmm, maybe that was it. Giving a shrug, she hoped that things were going to go well with these two, things could always turn out a little different with Genie in the mix, right?
Genie rubbed up against the other woman and then woofed happily before jumped when she heard Gelert sniff at her a little. Good, he was winding down a little bit! Turning around, she sniffed at him once again and then put her front legs out in order to show she wanted to play.

Nadia would have to agree! More red was always nice, coming from someone who was distinctively red. It was the short walk to the designated room next, and she kept in step with Jack once they started to walk, coaxing Gelert along with her. Hopefully, he'd warm up to Genie soon... "My goodness! Well, these genes seem to be rather unpredictable, don't they? The puppy I took from Hael's first breeding looked nothing like either parent," She said. "I enjoy that, though. It is somewhat of a lottery, and that is a thrill." Gelert didn't know if he wanted to play. It was good that she seemed friendly, but... he was as cautious as ever. He trotted along, staying close to the matronne but not giving into her requests just yet. His following bark sounded somewhat quizzical, like he didn't know what to make of the situation - Nadia reached down to scratch his head. [7]

"They are and I love it!" Jack said happily, "Though I am happy they seem to be a little more predictable than others you can breed, honestly." She smiled at her friend and held the door open when they got to the room, motioning the other three in first before she would follow. Genie happily pranced inside and then shook a ragdoll in her mouth from side to side, tail furiously wagging happily. She enjoyed playing! Hopping over to Gelert, she dropped the toy at his feet and then jumped back, inviting him to play.
The woman couldn't help but laugh a little, "I enjoy the thrill of it as well! How's everything going lately, anyway?" The statement was followed up by a question, which didn't seem all that odd when it came down to it. She settled into a chair and folded her arms and ankles in front of her as she looked at the two Houluh, and then her friend.

Nadia gave a playful sigh in response. How was everything going? Well, asides from her insomnia and her unusual house guest, all was well. The houluh were growing into fine young specimens, she was making progress with Guppy... all of which was worthy of a mention. She settled, however, with something different. “My dear Obsidion has been making pancakes,” Her voice had a teasingly exasperated edge. It didn’t occur to her that it was the first time she’d called him by name to Jack. “He is yet to master the art.” Gelert was a stubborn one, wasn’t he? He wanted to sit and wait for his human to be finished, but... that doll did look fun. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to play with the matronne a little. He inched forward and made a halfhearted attempt to snatch the rag doll from her - if truth be told, he seemed shy about it. [9]

Oh! She knew that name... Frowning, she realized why, that was... "Oh! I didn't know he was your house guest! How's... how's he doing? I paid him to get some stuff for me from Zoological Imports once, paid him with a Vulticus because he wouldn't accept any credits," Jack finished with a frown. She glanced over at her friend and tilted her head, did she know about his... unusual circumstances? If not, she didn't want to be the one to tell her, but still, maybe she deserved to know. Maybe she would have a chat with him later, if she could track him down that is.
Oh, oh! He was trying to play, but he seemed so shy... Genie yipped and bounced backwards again before leaping forward and nudging the toy a little closer to him so he could get a good hold of it. She glanced over at Jack and got a smile in response, they were all happy about the ring she had to help them communicate together.

Nadia wasn't too comfortable with the way Jack responded to hearing Obsidion's name. She knew him, but... that didn't seem to be much of a favourable reaction. Did her friend know something that she didn't? Out of politeness, she refrained from saying anything of the sort, but the thought lingered. "Yes, indeed. He is... an interesting sort of fellow, isn't he," She gave a small laugh. "You blessed him with Cookie? She is a sweetheart. Gelert was a big fan of her when he was smaller, though I'm sure he would deny all knowledge now." Gelert watched, and blinked. Okay. The matronne was happy for him to pick up the ragdoll... so he did, and couldn't resist the urge to give it a good shake. That felt good! His tail began to wag, and with his spirit improved, he was ready to play. "Do you... do you know him well, Jack?" That was a nicer way to phrase it. [11]

She listened with a smile, she was glad he'd found someone like Nadia to take him in, she'd been a little worried about him with everything that had happened with his... resurrection, she supposed. Ashe was to blame, of course, but she still wasn't sure if she should say anything. "No, not well really, just in passing honestly," the woman told her truthfully, she really knew little to nothing of the man, just what Ashe had told her and what she had observed during her role in the whole thing. Jack smiled a bit, "What's he like, really? Like I said, I paid him with Cookie for making that shopping trip for me, and he seemed reliable enough, right?"
Genie pranced around, pleased with herself when she saw Gelert shake the doll a little and his tail begin to wag. He was having fun already, she was so pleased! Woofing loudly, she jumped closer and attempted to take part of the ragdoll for herself, if only to play tug of war with him.

Gelert wasn't sure what to do with having an unfamiliar matronne so close to his face. He didn't know how to react - he was enough of a gentleman to let her take hold of one end of the doll, but didn't want to play too rough with her. Maybe he'd wait for her to initiate tug of war, just to make sure...? "What is he like..." Nadia smiled wryly, and sighed, the sound more amused than annoyed. "He is very... flirtatious. Though it seems to me that may be his default setting. I rarely know how to respond, or what to do about it... it would be terribly inappropriate, back at home, to have any man in my home who is not my husband." It didn't occur to her quite how backwards that sounded. The very mention of the scandal had her cheeks darkening with an embarrassed blush. Hopefully, Jack wouldn't judge her too harshly. [13]

Genie smirked around the ragdoll and then tugged on it. He was so very gentlemanly, it was a little weird, but hey, whatever worked. Tugging backwards, her tail wagging furiously, she was having the time of her life around a Houluh not of her own Kennel. Maybe it was wrong of her, but that wasn't going to stop her whatsoever!
Listening carefully, he sounded a lot like Ashe, and she wondered if he'd picked up some of his personality through the summoning. Hey it wasn't out of the realm of possibilities, was it? "It'll just take some getting used to I bet. I mean, my interaction of him was alright I suppose? At least he didn't take off with anything, that I know of..." she trailed off and raised an eyebrow before muttering, "Though I am missing a certain Sarane hatchling..." Hmm, if it was him, well, so be it, she was sure the little Hen was somewhere better than what she could give her right now. Jack just laughed after a moment and shook her head, moving to pat Nadia on the shoulder, "Hey, everyone has their history, be true to it! But don't rely just on the past to give you the best experiences."
