Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

> Xentus, accompanied by Mira
It was finally time to test the quality of his work. Yet another new venture sprang forth today, the beginning of the tournament.. He wasn't nervous for himself, but rather for Mira. He raised and trained her for this very purpose, and still he thought very cruel of himself for doing so. Xentus shook his head and lead Mira forward in this terribly named place. 'The fighting pit'. Wasn't that rather blatant? No fanciful name, no sugar coating. A place for animals to fight until one gives out. No matter how many times he tried to assure himself that she would be ok, that this was a test of both their skill.. No matter. It was too late to turn back now anyway.
"Ready, Mira?", he asked the mosca, knelt down and petting her neck. She stared back to him confused, but there was no fear in her eyes. This is what they'd trained for. Now was the time to prove just how well they had prepared. With that, he lead her into the arena, steeling himself for whatever was next to come.

... Well. This was going to be interesting.
This wasn't Aster's first trip to the Pit. In fact, you could say he was a bit of a regular in these parts. Lately he was coming here so often he felt like they ought to start charging him rent. But for this particular tournament... No, it was more that this was his first time, sacrificial unbroken brown drakes aside, entering a creature he hadn't trained extensively.
He felt a little bad for the Laredo, to be honest.
But the Laredo itself certainly had little to no thoughts on the matter. Its eyes were as beady and unreadable as ever as Aster led it onto the sands. Normally he would have said a few words to his creature before he left them to go up to the stands, but... In this case there wasn't much to say.
Especially not when he saw their opponent. A Mosca? Yeah, there was no chance. He'd seen the Laredo in action, and speed was not its forte.

Aster knew going in that the Laredo's chances weren't very good, but it was still a little disheartening to see it so clearly overmatched on the first round. Or maybe that was just his pride speaking, as someone who was used to at least giving people a good run for their money here.
But no sense in dragging it out, he supposed. And a forfeit, after having come all this way, felt a little weak. "Body slam," Aster commanded. No ribbons or tricks here either, just the words shouted for anyone to hear.
The Laredo was slow to move off, because that was the way it was, but it did remember the command. As well it ought to, given how long Aster had spent drilling the creature on the move. It cocked its head, then began a shuffling charge toward the Mosca, intent on trying to crush the other creature beneath its bulk.

Their opponent arrived, and he would now be commanding Mira from the stands, no longer by her side. All of their work until now was done side by side. This was really it, huh? A true test of how well he had done. How well she would perform.. A deep breath and he calmed his nerves, looking out to the arena. A laredo was their first match up.. Certainly it was a tough opponent, but then again, he figured any opponent they faced would be tough.
'Alright, like practiced', he thought to himself, recalling their training. Xentus then called out Mira's first move, "Mira, scream!" The mosca was nervous, naturally. Her master no longer there for comfort.. A squat reptile in the arena opposite to her. Her ears flicked around while her eyes locked on the laredo, listening for anything - comfort, guidance.. Scream? .. Scream! Channeling her nervousness into her voice, the mosca unleashed a shrill, heart-wrenching screech.

He felt like he would never get used to that sound. The mosca's voice of panic turned to tool would always twist his guts. Even so.. It did the job of stunning the oncoming laredo, even if just for a moment. Still, there was no time to lose; the battle was not yet over. The bulking reptile was a threat bound to the ground, and so, Mira would be safe in the air. He hoped. One of the last lessons he had taught her was to fly into the sky, to the domain which she had the most prowess over.
"Fly, Mira!", Xentus called out from the stands through grit teeth. Those four wings unfurled and heaved, powerful flaps granting the mosca the power of flight. Mira's eyes stayed locked onto her adversary, keen on darting away from any approach it might try. Flight and speed were on her side, even if raw strength was not.

Aster had more or less expected this. It was pretty standard in terms of strategy to have some way of throwing your opponent off their game at the start. Unfortunately, Laredos were mute, so he couldn't have taught this one anything similar even if he had wanted to. He watched, resigned, as the Laredo twitched in place; and by the time it had recovered, the Mosca was already preparing to take off.
There really WAS a dearth of options for them, but when all you had was a hammer... Or in this case, when all the Laredo knew was how to charge at its opponent, the only thing Aster could really ask it to do was to keep trying.
"Body slam," Aster called out again. The Laredo dutifully sallied forth to do just that. Its chances of catching a Mosca were slim, but there was always the chance that they would get lucky, maybe.

Swiftly, the mosca darted up into the air to avoid the oncoming attack of the laredo. It hardly had any chance of pulling off that stunt now. The earthbound creature seemed much less threatening now that Mira was clear from its range. This sight calmed the leopard's nerves, proving to him that Mira was quite capable at this. He did still fear for her getting hurt.. But now was the chance for her to turn on the offensive.
"Wing, Mira, quickly!", the mammalian commanded, urging his feline companion to take action before the laredo somehow managed to get a lucky strike. He wasn't sure how effective this would prove, but it was the only otther viable thing the mosca knew how to do at this point regardless. At hearing the word, Mira took action. With those four powerful wings serving as her weapon, the mosca aimed their wake at her opponent, directing slices of wind at the reptile.

Close but not quite... Aster actually grimaced as the Laredo came barely shy of slamming into the Mosca. He knew the chances of getting a hit in were low, but he hadn't expected to see the Laredo get quite so close, only falling short by a little bit. Gods' grace, but the creature was trying.
All to no avail, and now the Mosca was established in the air, and wheeling over to take its own strike at the Laredo. Aster had no doubt that it would hit true, and it was only a matter of whether the Mosca would be able to pierce the Laredo's thick hide decisively enough to end it here and now.
... Still. The Laredo's hide could be pretty thick. And if it survived the blow... "Body slam," Aster said yet again. It was too early to give up at this point, without knowing what the outcome would be.

Calculations
Mira uses Wing Buff! Mira's Dexterity of 14 + 4 rolled by staff = 18 vs. the 3 Dexterity of Anchovy Mira will deal the most damage possible! Wing Buff deals 14 damage 14 - 7 Resistance of Anchovy = 7 damage Anchovy's Stamina is now -1
He tried, he really tried, but Anchovy just wasn't up to the attack from the Mosca. He goes down and the Pit crew rush out to tend to him.
Results Mira gains 2 levels and Xentus gains 5 pit prize points Anchovy gains 1 level and Aster gains 3 pit prize points
