Mining Trip #1 > Xentus, accompanied by...
As promised, he was babysitting. And he would do exactly that in the most wreckless way he could think of - bringing the young Solaris into the dark caverns that winded through the canyon. OF course, he'd never let any true harm come to his ward. Her mother was going to chew him out for this, though.
"Ready, young Sola?", the leopard asked in an excited tone to the young draconic. She was out of her element by far. The rocky interior of the earth offered none of the pleasures of a flowing tide pool. But the golem the mammalian man brought along was a source of comfort. The vibrant whelp huddled herself close to the water walker, who wanted nothing to do with her. It clicked its head in retaliation, opening a pore on its side to spray water at the offending dragon. But this was only to the delight of Solaris. A gleeful yelp escaped her as she pushed herself closer to the golem, soaking in as much water as it jetted out.
"Now, now, none of that", the scold then came, directed at the walker, "Play nice with the little one, little one". The words were enough to quell the golem's anger, much to the disappointment of the dragon.

"Hah, little one!", young Solaris squeaked at the water golem, teasing it for being 'little', despite being equal in size with herself. A quick, wobbly shake splashed the water even further, a few drops landing even on the leopard. He was less than amused at this, but the offending droplets did little to dampen his mood. Seeing the bright and cheery Solaris was a pleasure. She reminded him of Akinai, when she was young. To think that he could relive those days.. It was unimaginable. But here he was! The grin on his face hardly shifted so far today, though he needed to soak in as much of this playful banter before they delved into the cavern. There was little room for carelessness underground.
"Sola", the leopard called, trying to garner the playful spirit's attention. She was much too busy trying to annoy the golem, now attempting to clamber onto its back. Her clawed digits kept slipping through the golem in some parts, despite feeling like they touched a solid surface. It was confusing and interesting and it wasn't her brother and oh right Xen. A curious hum sounded from the whelp, her pale blue eyes now giving the mammalian the attention he sought.

"Are you ready, little one?", Xentus repeated now that he had her attention, "The caverns are no place to play around in. Xentus does not want you to get hurt." His own blue eyes looked with all seriousness to the whelp. His grin faded into a careful smile. The big eyes of the young dragon were so compelling. Ah, he hardly wanted to have anything serious come about their little venture. To watch her play and frolic and squeal brought him plenty of joy. But he did want to teach her the thrill of exploration. And perhaps shed off some of his wanderlust onto her. Exactly what her mother wouldn't want, which amused him the most. He didn't want to spite Akinai, but instead encourage her to also venture forth and explore. She was sweet, but much too safe within her bubble. Helios took after her.. But Solaris here was impressionable.
"'M ready!", the young dragon squeaked, still trying to clamber atop the water golem. The poor thing didn't seem very happy.. Or just displeased, maybe? It was difficult to even tell. with those creatures.. Its shell quietly clicked as it endured the scratching and wiggling of the hatchling on its body.

A discerning eye stared hard at the young dragon as she unbound herself from the golem. Her eyes flicked between the blue walker, the blue leopard, and the not-so-blue cavern mouth that they stood before. It didn't look too much different from any other cave back where they lived. Some draconics liked it dark, probably. Xentus seemed concerned about it though.. Even if she wouldn't get too hurt, Helios would just blow the owwies away. Her eyes flicked around the party again. Except, her brother wasn't here to do that.. He was out with mother, and she was out with Xen. A pout formed on her snout as she thought about it. Rarely were the two siblings ever separated. But the golem was like Helios! Stoic and no fun.
"Alright then, let us be off. Stay close, little ones", the leopard announced, turning to face the maw of earth. His flashlight flicked on, and he began to walk toward the looming darkness. He kept a pointed ear turned to the knee-high duo trailing after him, making sure that they were staying nearby as he instructed. He didn't want anyone getting separated and lost. The golem would do well to stay near, but it was Solaris that he was afraid would find a distraction..

The young draconic was extremely bright - physically and mentally. She would be hard to lose sight of, so unless he was careless he didn't really worry about her somehow fading into the dark. He was afraid that her curiosity would cause her to stray, however. Everything in the world was fascinating to her (a feeling he knew all too well), and so if she happened to catch a glance of something interesting, there was no doubt that she'd go investigate without a word. Then again, she was awfully chatty. Born with more knowledge that was good for someone so young, the whelp asked plenty of questions. Manners though.. Were questionable. The golem already seemed to have enough of her toying and playing at this point; the low clattering from its shell was unending. He could keep an ear out for that as well. Alternatively, he could ask the golem to keep tabs on young Solaris.. But such a feat might be above the creature's capabilities. It wasn't the smartest tool in the shed.. Following simple commands was just about all it could do. That was useful enough alone, of course, but it did leave much to be desired (and much to be figured out with its behavior..).
