Ashe arrived at the Contest hall with a familiar on his shoulder, her tiny claws digging in to keep her balance, and an odd little creature scurrying around on the ground near his feet. She was goat size, but she pranced around on little hands rather than cloven hooves. They bent a little oddly, blending the articulation of an Equillion and a Lerrel. Crazy combination, but look at that adorable lerrel, batish face! Ashe could just pinch those cheeks.
He was also most likely one of very few who thought this way. He was banking on that, going into this contest. It wasn't the 'cute' contest, after all!
Ezra darted this way and that, her bat ears swiveling to catch the sounds around her. Her little claws scratched at the flooring, slipping every once in awhile and scrambling to get her balance once again. She was on a leach, looped around Ashe's wrist. Sweet thing, with high energy! He didn't want to lose her.
"Hi there! Don't mind me, just signing up this little weirdo for the Vai Min Mur contest..." Ashe trailed off as he picked up a pen and started scribbling her info onto the paper. Ezra jerked his arm a couple of times before he was able to complete it.

Morgan had never been so very happy that creatures bought freshly from the Labs tended to come with a bit of the psycho-social bond already cemented. Hell's Belles was a handful at the end of a lead and with the proper restraints for such a beast already, even with the... Ease of learning how to deal with Morgan. The human couldn't imagine what a nightmare she would be without it. The human chuckles at the pun that crosses their mind, but leads her inside anyway, going up to the registration desk just as they had done many times before.
"I'd like to ru-Register Hell's Belles, my Equillion...s. I guess, f-for the Vai Min Mur Show." Perhaps she would be considered more a freak than a spooky critter, but Waar would have them covered there. Perhaps Morgan would find the time to train her, after this prior engagement of course. Morgan reaches out to complete the paperwork, but keeps a good eye on their monster in the meantime.

There were two contests to be entered this month, both with a few entry prizes that a soft-skin had promised her a decent amount of credits to obtain. While the creature she had chosen to prance for the amusement of the soft-skins at the freak show had taken a while to choose, the Vai Min Mur offering had been chosen in a matter of seconds. Now, with a loop of coarse rope around the bones of its neck, the thing rattled after her with every step.
She had never cared too much about the soft-skin holidays, the only excuse she might have had for not realizing the thing was commonly produced when she had first found it, but now the mansion-born would serve to earn her the credits waiting for the prizes. It was with this in mind and not any lingering feeling of pity or reluctance that she took a longer route to the contest hall, walking slowly enough that the skeletal creature might gawk at the hive on the way there.
Once they had made it past the doors and to the front desk, she let him, it, stare at the soft-skins and beasts passing through the lobby with his jaw nearly unhinged as she told the soft-skin at the desk, “Juggler, Vai-ninnur.” When the proper forms were passed to her, she took her time filling them out.
There were not one but two contests about to go on, and until yesterday Sevyrn had absolutely nothing worth offering up to either. Things had changed, though, and in the end she had walked out of the mansion with not one but two bone familiars, perfect additions to contests designed around being creepy. She almost definitely was going to lose not one but both competitions, she didn't have time to train the creepy little things anything after all, but it was worth it - they definitely suited the themes.
She had elected to take the white one down with her to sign up for the Vai Min Mur contest, as they were the first one that she had come up with a name for. Stepping up to the registration desk with the familiar at her side, Sevyrn requested to join. "I was hoping to submit Boneregard here for the Vai Min Mur contest."
The Vai Min Mur Show was always one that Silver felt out of place at. Unfortunately, this time around was no different. They still wanted to try, though, and they had pulled off some surprise wins before. Even if they didn't place, they would still get to spend some time with Nyx which was always nice. They liked the idea of showing her off to a crowd that was prepared to see a creature like her. They always thought that she was so beautiful and interesting, but they also realized that she was a bit scary for anyone who wasn't used to her. This would be a great bonding experience for the two of them.
Silver was all smiles as they gently led Nyx into the contest hall to get her registered. Quin was pretty used to this place by now, so he was taking a nap on her back out of boredom. As much as he hated being left out of the spotlight, he knew how this worked. "Ah, hey," they said. "My name is Silver, and this is my Equillion, Nyx. She's, ah, blind, but don't worry, I'll take good care of her. We're here to register for the Vai Min Mur show, if that's okay." They spoke very quickly like they were trying to get out all of the words before they forgot what they wanted to say.
Looming low and ominous in twilight premature, thunderheads are rumbling in a distant overture.
It was getting repetitive to say, but Kadin was new to the labs. He was new to his pets. He was new to all these strange systems and places one could explore to do things and earn things and just, generally, be. He'd been here, though. To the contest hall. That time it was with some houluh. Just puppies, really, that he'd raised himself. He was pretty proud of that. But this time? He'd noticed there was another kind of competition at the contest hall. Not one for only puppies, this time. This one was for creatures that were a bit more... spooky.
See, Kadin was new to the labs. But he knew one thing. He certainly had some pets in the kennel he was STILL sorting through that could qualify as 'spooky'. So, he came to to contest hall, figuring he certainly couldn't lose anything by entering, and filled out a form.
He knew exactly which pet would fit the theme of this contest.

There was one more visit to the kennel and back that day, this time for someone.. a little different. In some ways, the pumequin was almost adjacently the same - all fire and shadows and.. slightly skeletal-ness - and yet completely different. The half-breed had an attention spam which was easy to catch, and the sphinx (with assistance from some shijin telekinesis) had little trouble leading him through the City towards the contest hall with just a glint of a shiny orb. The orb floated through the air, moved by unseen hands, and the half-breed followed in tow, like a kitten lazily chasing a mouse on a stick (They did actually have a mouse on a stick, as well - a flying one, anyway - but that came later).
Reaching the Contest Hall, she left the shijin and beast at the front, lest Tharèus threaten something with fire by accident, and walked up to the counter. "Ah, hello again. I would also like to submit Tharèus here into the Vai Min Mur contest. He's an equillion and chelcauda crossbreed." And more fire than shadow, given the tainted side of that arrangement, but that didn't really need to be said: the name 'pumequin' was quite.. descriptive, in that sense.
Tharèus: 6 (3/5)
Amonuro: 70 (1/4) - (shijin just to accompany, not participate).

It was the season for things of terror and fright.. A custom that Xentus was not very familiar with, to be frank. He didn't really care for the idea of Vai Min Mur, but he supposed it was something to do. The cultural difference was evident.. Still, he would try to immerse himself in it if only to broaden his mind. There were two contests going on in celebration. A general 'Vai Min Mur' contest which he still didn't understand the basis of, along with a 'freak show', which frankly seemed like it would be insulting to any pets who were entered. He hardly had a match to either theme in regard to the creatures that he kept in his personal menagerie, but he had a couple that might loosely fit the bill.
With him for registration first was Rex, a rarely seen kair. They were intelligent avians, as far as he knew, but Rex was young, and hopefully would find some fun in this. The leopard held the kair's claw as he walked with them to register. "Greetings", the leopard started once his turn came, "Xentus will be entering Rex here for the Vai Min Mur show."

Nerius wasn't exactly a regular at the contest hall, it was something he was interested in, but they always seemed to happen when he was in the middle of three other things, or he didn't have anything suitable for the theme. For once though, timing had lined up, and he just happened to have the perfect creature for the spooky theme.
Getting her here would be the issue though, he couldn't exactly walk a full grown pliathor through the front doors, and Nerius was alone as he walked up to the registration desk. "Hello, I would like to register my pliathor Undertow for the Vai Min Mur contest. I'll need to teleport her here later with a collar of bonding, if that's acceptable?" Nerius was sure people had entered pliathors or other large aquatic creatures before, he knew the hall had a tank large enough, he just hadn't needed to worry about the logistics of it before. The paperwork at least was simple enough to fill out.

Now this was more like it. Signing up for the freak show had been unpleasant (if just for the smell), but the Vai Min Mur contest was always something to look forward to. Madison sat happily on the humanish's shoulder, sniffing the air as Fiera approached the sign up desk. All sorts of colorful and thematic decorations were set up around the hall, making it look downright festive in here. The other contestants weren't half bad either, filling the hall with beautiful shades of orange, red, purple, and black. Madison would fit right in here- what critter fit a vai min mur contest better than a candy corn bat? They were practically iconic to the season. "Hello there!" Fiera chirped at the front desk, snatching up some registration paperwork before the desk worker could even hand it to her. "I'll be signing up my candy corn bat, Madison. Looking forward to the contest!"

Boy, there sure was a crowd in this joint. Aster sighed as he looked around him. It wasn't as if he was disheartened by the competition - though he couldn't focus enough to figure out what some of his competition was, since there were so many people here to sign up. Must be a popular occasion, this one.
Nightshade wasn't as bothered by the crowd as Aster was, looking about himself with an air of interest. Seeing as he was behaving himself, Aster turned his attention to filling out the forms. Once those were done, he handed them over. "One more entry," he said. If they needed more information, it was all on the paperwork anyway. When no one asked him any further questions, he turned to leave.
He was trying not to think about the fact that it would probably be at least this crowded when it came time to do their thing in the show ring.
Riku: I appreciate that.

Silver: Yea over time I realized that people either ignored or resented a lot of the lore anyway, so I've mostly just figured, eh, if you want to play, do what you want. I'd rather have you around than yell at you for your plot points.

Alma: If it helps, this version feels like it changed/removed a lot of the old fluff and is a great deal more free-form now. Could probably make up whatever to make your OC's reach the city and fit in somewhat so long as they aren't from something like Halo.
Apr 12, 2021 12:49:24 GMT -6
Yang: i feel like its a real challenge to bring in OC's when the Story-story of the labs is a big 'ol question mark; i get the idea/Sense of the labs' story; to make beasts that are Cool and Powerful, but beyond that its all '? ? ?' ; to me atleast :B
Apr 12, 2021 10:30:40 GMT -6
Kadin: Hah, same, I still haven't finished Kadin's intro back to the labs plot area thread even tho I've been back for months now
Apr 12, 2021 7:26:36 GMT -6
Silver: To be honest, I write most of my prologues much later, if ever haha.
Apr 11, 2021 21:52:35 GMT -6
Riku: A lot of my pets have prologues that need to be written still.....but I could technically write those later as flashbacks in the plot area.
Apr 11, 2021 21:06:34 GMT -6
Riku: I look forward to seeing stuff come about. Long-plans for six months to a year or two in the future are things I'm open to!
Apr 11, 2021 21:06:00 GMT -6
Riku: I love Alma's ideas for the boss fights. I'd really enjoy participating, but I just don't know if I'm currently qualified with my very little actual training experience and lack of muse lately...
Apr 11, 2021 21:05:30 GMT -6
Kadin: ... Heck, I should train up SEVERAL teams of gallor, lol
Apr 11, 2021 20:07:31 GMT -6
Kadin: I'd like to train a group of vulti or other pets up in the future, but I'll probs run the fights with my currently trained pets, too, until those others are trained up
Apr 11, 2021 20:07:09 GMT -6
Noa: I doubt anyone is gonna want to tag team with me anyhow XD
Apr 11, 2021 0:13:25 GMT -6
Noa: I'll probably be solo-ing the Pit ones, at least... Mostly because I'm not as interested in the points as I am in gaining levels on specific pets. And since my PLs are so high, I'd bring down the point earnings, so
Apr 11, 2021 0:13:16 GMT -6
Riku: Maybe that can be one of the 'bosses'. Like a group of Vulti.
Apr 10, 2021 19:49:54 GMT -6
Jack: Yeah I really liked the idea.
Apr 10, 2021 19:12:13 GMT -6
Alma: I really like the idea of pack instincts coming into play with a pack of beasts that can be seen as thematically linked to a boss. XD
Apr 10, 2021 19:08:50 GMT -6
Alma: I figure most players will want to solo through a few fights with their stronger pets first, if for no other reason than to make the fights go faster, but I'll probably ask around for that sort of team again later.
Apr 10, 2021 19:07:49 GMT -6
Jack: I'm thinking of throwing a couple of Sarane at the Wiurn, but I'm liking your ideas you posted! I'm totally game for it, to be honest.
Apr 10, 2021 16:47:58 GMT -6
Alma: Anyone have any plans for their teams?
Apr 10, 2021 16:41:06 GMT -6
Alma: The boss system looks pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing more fights in it.
