On the Board
Checking over the quest board, a new listing catches your eye. It's handwritten, in neat but pretty handwriting on vaguely green tinted stationary, which is printed at the bottom with a familiar logo. Curious, you read the message...
"Hello! As winter is in full swing, I find myself with a bit more free time than usual. After all, Herbologist's Delight isn't quite as busy when all of the plants are in torpor! Every year I do my best to make a fresh batch of seasonal cookies to try and help people stay cheerful through this dreary season, but... well, my speed isn't what it used to be! I would appreciate an extra set of hands around the shop to help me bake, and I'll make sure you get to have some of the extras. Sincerely, Alura. "
Interesting! It sounds like the shopkeep of Herbologist's Delight needs some help this year, and while it's not necessarily paid, you're pretty sure you'd enjoy what she's offering..."
In Order to Succeed: Help Alura out with her baking! You can't imagine that's very hard- almost everyone's baked a cookie at some point, right?
Prize: From the sounds of it, it looks like you'll be getting some delicious baked goods as a reward... along with the usual quest points, of course.
Challenge Rating: Very Easy

Those fangs are something else, Kristofor thought to himself as he washed the bowls for his creatures. The miniature tent was pitched in the other corner, and he coudl hear something skittering about inside. That being the fluffball tailypo he'd been handed off last month to adopt. No longer a starved little mutt of a cat, the kitten had rich orange and yolk yellow fur in a tabby/tiger patterning and had HOLY HELL ENERGY TO SPARE. To avoid any spats between Dawson or Mira and the cat, he made the decision to use the tent as a separator. It had a few tiny holes here and there from excited chewing. Mrrrrrow! The cat terror yowled briefly, paws smacking the reinforced mesh of the tent flap. HUNGRY Just a moment, just a moment. The water barrel released a big bubble and interrupted the flow of water for washing feeding and watering dishes. 1

The easiest idea would be to just capture the kitten and make up a fresh bottle of milk, but several feedings a day would drain the box of formula he'd acquired quickly. How long did this kitten need milk? Could it just eat now? Experimentally, he found a few rolls of cooked meat. Someone had mentioned they were 'hot dogs', a popular city meal that was quick and rich in protein. The local grocer might be a smarter idea on where to find good kitten/cat food. He'd go out shortly for that. The aforementioned cat yowled, slapping their paws on the mesh again. FEEEEEEEED MEEEEEE Tearing off a chunk of hot dog, Kristofor made his way over to the tent, and poked the meat through the bite hole in the cloth. Food? The tailypo paused in its assault on the door and found the meat roll. Sniff sniff sniff, an expermimental lick, before biting into the object. FOOD! 2

Finally, all its energy got put into getting as much food into its mouth as possible. Tiny white fangs hooked and tore at the hot dog, which wasn't terribly thick, but more then enough for a kitten to eat. The smell of the cooked meat bothered his nose a bit. Possibly the cooked part, or whatever was cooked into the meat to make it smell good to humans. The hot dog trick, he'd call it later, bought enough time to finish washing dishes and refilling water and food for all his creatures. But the idea of what to feed the tailypo besides a milk bottle and apparently hot dogs threw him for a loop. But he'd take the little scamp with him to avoid more holes in the tent. And they weren't even tailypo made, at least not yet. Heading out of the kennel, the fox and the cat found a crowd outside the local gardening store? People heading out with baskets of cookies? 3

The people were enamored by the sweet treats it seemed to him. They swapped treats, broke them in half, hell, just gave them away to each other. With weird happy expressions when biting into the aforementioned sweets. Mrrowww.... the tailypo squirmed in his grip, trying to climb him like a jungle gym. Thankfully those little -ouch- claws weren't that long yet, but still very sharp. Like handling a baby fox who's teething. "Thank you, come again." as he approached the store, a white haired human woman who looked more related to a tree then a person waved off their last guest. "Hello little one. Would you like to help me bake some cookies?" He blinked. I don't understand what you said, he responded to her. She pauses, smiles, then wiggles her hand in an odd form. Was that humming he heard? The tailypo hissed, big bat ears flattening briefly. Noisy noise. 4

"How is this dearie." the treelike woman responded...and he could understand her! "Yes, thats better. What did you say the first time around?" the fox asked, his head tilting briefly. She looks him up and down, a fox person with a little kitten who can hear the activity around it. "I asked would you like to help me bake some cookies. They are pet friendly of course, and digestible for anyone." she smiles, and it makes the worn look of her skin more like an ancient oak tree. Topped with white leafage. "Uh... do you have a recipe for making food for a cat, er, a tailypo?" he gestures at the kitten clinging to him. "Oh yes, I do. Come come inside now." the woman turns around and ambles indoors. He has to duck for the lower doorway, and walks into an indoor garden. "Through here, through here. Do not mind Elah, she's just minding the flowers while I'm busy in the kitchen..." 5 3/3 -fin-
