"Whoa!" the black haired kid finally caught hold of the reins to calm the beast down. With a groan, Kristofor toppled off the finally stopped sled to kneel on all fours, really considering putting in the work to kiss the ground. He loved ground. Sleds are too fast and too dangerous and too much risk and attached to meat eating deer. "Good try, might want to try learning how to use those turns I told you." the fox grit out something rude in Laiyan as he put his forehead to the ground. Ugh, the whole world felt like it was on a tilt, keeping his eyes closed. Something small landed next to him and started to paw him. No Yolko not now... a needy yowl in his ear before tiny teeth decided his ear was a good meal. Thankfully someone else was watching and the chewing on his ear stopped pretty quickly. 1

The race had carried through the city but the sled had gone off course and careened down a side street before the black one flighted to catch the reins ands top the rampaging sled. Something cold slid along the edge of his neck and he heard the sound of object being cut. The ridiculous wearable banner was pulled from him, and tossed aside, unassumingly. "Hopefully you don't have to finish the race to get those participation prizes." Groan. "Well don't see that many foxes go screaming by on sleds in this area." Big ears flicked and the fox chanced a glance. Looking at him upside down, with a pair of (retrieved) branch cutters was a human man, almost the same color as his clothing. "A good run. Should've looped off the course a bit easier, but freestyle was what that painter guy wanted to do." He sighed, then stooped. "You ok there kid?" 'I hate sleds...' 2

"Can't say I blame y' there. But some people get a rush when they race on sleds, carts, their own animals, you name it. Speed is not for everyone. Especially not me. I like my feet firmly on the ground." He could hear something being carressed above hsi head? "Thats what I like about plants. They don't move on you unless you move them yourself." Chancing another look, the fox saw the human turning leaves over with a discouraged look. "Damn water bears. Stop eating my berries!" Pinching and pulling at something he couldn't see from his angle. In his arm, he saw hte squirming Yolko, distracted by watching the human's hand pick and pull at long worms. "Water...bear?" he managed to ask before moving his head gave a bad case of sudden vertigo again he had to close his eyes. "Its a kind of caterpillar. They are very common in wet places, and must've come in on the latest shipment of southern grown moss I ordered." 3

"they'll eat their weight by 100 in a few days if you let them, and they are destroying my crop! If you can get yourself together, would you lend a guy a paw? I'll make it worth your while." It took nearly 20 minutes for the fox to get himself physically righted again. Carefully looking around, he saw no sign of the rogue sled, the beast or its minder. Must've bolted at the sight of the human? Why. Whatever. He willed his paws to stand again, gripping the wall, almost whatever he could reach. For he'd have a headache and a half later on. The man had dropped Yolko off on the ground gently, and had gotten out a few jars with wide mouths. "I actually want to see if these water bears will butterfly or not, so whatever you manage to pick off the plants, put in this jar." Was he looking to get a butterfly or a kodoku? 4

((For knowledge, a kodoku is the thing of putting a bunch of bugs and such in a jar and burying it, and letting them eat each other. Ick)) This wasn't especially interesting and the tailypo rapidly got very bored and flopped over by the fox's paws, yowling aimlessly for food. BecausE hungry! HUNGRY "Must be one of those new species that offshoot of the labs is offering, yeah?" the man asked, as the fox nodded. He had one of the water bears crawling over his fingers, observing its hooked feet and the transparency of its body, mostly mottled greens and browns. "Hungry little thing. Must keep you up at night a lot?" He had no idea. Trying to focus on the little caterpillar before picking it up with his fingers and putting it into the jar. Between the two of them, with the human doing most of the work really, they managed to get the trees taken care of. Guess the offroad wasn't so bad. "Thanks." 5 -fin
