Considering the support for removing the ongoing roleplay requirement of shops, we've considered restructuring the way shops threads work as a whole. The current system where each shop has it's own sub-board in which users make a new thread to make a purchase was a decision we made a long time ago when more interactions with NPCs was the norm. If we're not going to be forcing users to have a back and forth with NPCs, then is this still the best format? Discuss/vote! If we remove the roleplay requirement for shops (so you'll generally only be making one post per shopping trip!), which do you prefer? Option 1 is to keep everything like it is. You make a thread to make a purchase, an NPC will reply once (or multiple times if you request it) and lock the thread at the end. Option 2 is to have a single thread for the roleplay, and users reply to this thread in order to make a purchase. If they want to have an ongoing roleplay with the NPC, it still happens in this thread. (See: The Rookery.) Option 3 is a hybrid - single post replies go in a thread, and any desired longer roleplays will have their own threads.

I remember on v1 that there was a 'everyone reply in one thread' system going- and it was misery. Maybe it would be different now, with our lesser userbase? However, I find the rookery a little difficult already since one sometimes has to go spelunking to see if anyone is currently trying to adopt the one you may be interested in. Then again- with the change to how one buys limited stock (it being individual per user/account?) that may not be as bad?
I could just see people's stuff getting lost even more easily than it already does in the tumble if it is all jammed into one thread.
(Sorry for going on- just random thoughts. c:)

I feel like what made those old threads miserable was indeed the stocking system - everyone flooded in to grab things the second they came in stock, which ended up a bit hectic. Now, if you're not going to have a back and forth roleplay with the NPC, and you don't need to hop on something as soon as it stocks, I don't think that'll be as much as of an issue.
I find single threads easier to navigate than multiple short threads, but I know not everyone feels that way, hence the vote. :3

I like option one the most of it, what it is currently and still having the roleplay aspect be in it when requested. It would also be more easy to keep track of what you purchased in a particular board in the past, compared to cluttering everything up in one big thread (as for each new purchase with a thread, you'd only need to check the first post to see what you did in the past).
