The rabbit strokes the longer fur on their chin, almost like how a human grows out their beard. A wizard's rabbit? or a rabbit wizard? 'Mage, little cat. Mage. Wizards are very pre-labs timeline. So are witches. Mages catch all the concepts, and magess just sounds weird. Don't you agree?' he nods in return. "excellent, we see the same idea. Now, I take it your adversion to looking yoru dog in the eye or even being near each other is this reasoning, yes?' a furry finger pokes him lightly on the bridge of his nose. On instinct, Skylos swats his paw away, and tries not to look the rabbit in the eyes. 'Or any animal. Poor child. Lets see.' The rabbit starts to pace, stroking its beard and mumbling to themself. The rabbit is nearly at or bigger then he is, and Skylos isn't a 'little' cat. Granted, his fur makes him poofy, and clothes hard to fit. 8

'Looks like the mansion knows you're still here, child.' the rabbit interrupts his inner thought monologue, putting a cowry shell in his paws. 'Or its expressing apology. One can't tell easily with these houses. Some excentric master lives here and nobody knows if they are alive, dead or somewhere in between.' They guffaw a bit before pacing around some more. Someone might take the rabbit seriously if they weren't wearing a beach shirt that's neon pink with neon yellow pineapples printed upon it. And violently yellow sandals. The rabbit paces, and Kitri skirts them, coming back to him, to headbutt his hands and make whining sounds. She's afraid. Of the rabbit. who's bigger then her. 'How are you going to protect me when you're older, hm?' the cat asks his dog, rubbing her big floppy brown ears. Woof. 'That doesn't even make sense.' he expresses. The pup nuzzles his paws. He gives good scratches. 9

His initial thought on adopting the worginu once he had shelter of his own, was to train her up and have her protect him. Because not everyone fancied such a shabby kitty cat intruding on their territory. Namely some of the tamers who loiter outside and are totally in league with the soup kitchen's ghoul of a cook. Returning home in the dead of night is rough on the sleeping. But she's a lot more nervous of bigger creatures then herself. He'll have to work on her guts. Er, teach her how to be brave? If she can endure his spooky issue, maybe handling big animals or scary humans might help. 'Start small on that, child. Puppies scare easily to almost anything.' the rabbit prompts. "Are you reading my mind? And how am I able to speak what you are able to understand.... nobody understands Greek." The rabbit grins big buck teeth and taps the side of their head, just beside their ears. 10 5.0 kitri

"Never hurts to learn the language of the locals. It might get one out of a tight spot someday." the rabbit replies as he crouches in the sand. The earth swirls around his paw as he twists his hand around back and forth like one trying to use a metal cylinder to make a hole in the ground for planting. Perhaps its because of the ocean that the sand hole starts filling up with water almost immediately. Its fascinating. Something to watch with great interest. The rabbit stops swirling and pulls his paw back sharply, pulling back a... thing. It's long, black, and writhing. Snapping. What is this...? The rabbit grins as he holds up their catch. It writhes furiously, a long black and blue fish that Skylos can't help but compare to an angry worm. "This, child, is a viperfish. Be careful not to let it latch on, these fish will bite down and not let go." He holds the fish out... to both him and to Kitri. 11

Skylos takes the fish only once it pauses in its writhing, grasping it behind the head as one would handle a snake. The creature has a tiny bud of lighter color on its head, that almost extends off its forehead. If it has eyes, they are pin pricks. "What am I supposed to do with this?" the cat asks the rabbit. "eat it?" "I wouldn't, myself." the rabbit answers, shaking his paw dry. "Viperfish aren't poisonous, but they are very bony. You're better off hunting the other fish in the water." Standing up, the rabbit dusts the sand from his knees and stretches. "Or just take it home and stick it in a tank to look at. Some of the mansion creatures make excellent pets." Pets besides bigger pets? It makes less sense to him. The rabbit chuckles at his confusion, and watches the pup skulk behind him, still keeping her distance. 12

"I heard that worginu are large creatures with no fear. They must become brave when they grow up, because she's... well, a coward." Ok, thats taking it a bit far, Skylos thinks to himself. Yes, Kitri's a nervous pup right now, but she's super strong and exciteable from how short a time he'd had her. His eyebrow ridges furrow a bit, and doesn't make him look friendlier. "Kitri is young, and not a coward." he defends his fluffy friend. The rabbit shrugs in return. "Say what you want, I say what my eyes see. See ya." the large rabbit wanders off past a dune, and disappears. Even those giant footprints vanish. How spooky. He's left with the viperfish and Kitri peeking out from behind his legs. 'YOu're not a coward in my eyes.' the fluffy cat mutters to his canine companion. "Just young. Poor pup, wasn't that rabbit just so rude." Kitri shuffles a bit, leaning her weight into hthe back of his knees. 13

'So we're stuck with a fish, and in the middle of the beach.' Skylos grumbles to himself. Maybe the viperfish can survive without water. Its beady eyes are glowering at him. 'I'm not stupid enough to put you in a point of letting you bite me.' Letting dinner bite back isn't a smart idea. 'Shall we continue to explore?' he asks her. No longer so frightened, Kitri peeks out again, still putting a lot of weight into his legs. She gives a short yappy bark and scoots out around him. Its nothing special. This place. It makes his fur stand on end occasionally. Maybe its because he's positive that rabbit is still out there. Or he's just paranoid. Doesn't help he feels like something is constnatly watching him. Kitri puts her nose to the ground, sniffing a scent she hasn't smelled before. She smells sand. Cat. mud. fish. Several things. Several many things. 14

This is strange... why does she smell blanket? Blanket is nowhere. Blanket is at home. Home, right? Looking at the cat, she barks once. Bark! Bark! Ok, twice. 'Did you see something Kitri?' the cat maows at her, as he steps over a bit of beach grass. She woofs, and paws at the sand where it smells like blanket. He fishes around in the dirt, and finds... a dead puppet? Looks like someone took a pair of shears to a frog puppet and severed its head, leaving a lumpy rag in the sand. How cruel. And its heavy, when Skylos picks it up. Its enough to require two hands. Perhaps because its the size of Kitri's torso. Big puppet. It wiggles a bit in his hands, and the cat almost drops it. What is it? Bark! Smells like blanket! Kitri yaps and noses the object in the cat's paws. What is it? WHat is it? 15

After July mansion, after the temple, at the clinic
The cat has a very foggy memory after getting to the top of the temple after that. He's aware of being at the bottom again, and finished the job. He sat in the exam room of the vet who should be operating on Kitri, wringing his free paw in his pocket against a literally empty amount of fabric. A kindly matron had a first aid kit open on the exam table, his arm stretched across the table, stitching up the deep gash in his paw pad with a bone needle. She provides him with water and a snack so he doesn't pass out on the table... and he eats it slowly. Like someone packed cat food into a bar of protein. Ick, but it fills the void of his growling stomach. She finishes with his injury, and goes back through the room with a bright glowing sign of a needle. When that goes dark, the operation would be complete. August 1

Time is literally crawling right now. He's got a fidgety desire to pull his injury in close and chew off the stitches holding his paw closed. Due to his large size, (by her words to herself, bigger then an mosca, smaller then an estharne) she hadn't known how much pain medication to administer, but he chose not to take it. Felt foggy enough as is. Rough. The injury isn't bandaged yet, maybe because the matron needs to do more? The wound throbs to the beat of his heart. Resting his chin on the table, the cat exhales with feeling, his upper 'lip' and whiskers moving from the force. Never mind the smells of literally ground-city, he finds the chemically cleansed scent of the metal and cushion table something off to his sense of smell. Since the matron had left, the knot of anxiety in his stomach grew. All sorts of half-felt emotions spinning through. 2

Anxiety of Kitri's ailment. Distress. The knot of exasperation and terror that he'd lost his hard earned coppers to either nature or a thieving hand. He's been taught at a young age that blaming others for your own misfortune is delusional. He'd known the dangers of hiding his coppers jar in a location that was high traffic. The (he assumed) poisonous frog's head puppet, was this another part of his string of misfortune? He looks at his paws. There's red welts where he'd carried the yellow-white marble to the two sided box, holding it in his hands. But these aren't burns, they're energy welts. His golden eye aches at the sight of them, a hum of warning. What he'd done... had been powerfully magic related. How is splashing your blood on rocks magic related? Or waking up at the bottom of the temple. It didn't seek to calm his wound up mind. 3

A subtle 'ding' above his head signals his attention. Tiredly, the cat looks upward, squinting a bit a the sign. Its dark now. His throat feels dry again. Sounds of footsteps. He leans back into sitting on the chair set next to the table for the humans, his tail dusting the floor. Two come through the door, a tired looking doctor? and the matron. They're human, as far as the cat lad can tell. Pulling a chair out, the doctor sits and the matron stands. That's unusual, the cat thinks to himself with irritation, why they sit and she stand. "The operation is complete. It was a success." the doctor starts. The anxiety starts to loosen up inside him, in his posture. "Your worginu, as you're aware, ingested a poisonous item and it was too large to be vomited back up or ejected out." He nods. The human's hands smell heavily of chemicals. "She will pull through." 4
