Sevyrn spent… way too much time down at the APAA, for it to be reasonable. Every single time she managed to go home with someone new, too. It was probably a bad habit and she was starting to stretch her own means thin but it was just so hard to walk past the building and know that there were so many animals deserving of a home inside and not even stop by to see if there was anyone around who might be a good fit for her kennel. Every time she walked in she knew that she didn’t have to leave with anyone and she planned to be able to walk out alone… it just never happened.
Today was like any other time she’d walked past the APAA on her way to the stores to grab some supplies for home - she tried to walk by but she just couldn’t. The pull was strong - just one this time, she told herself, dropping the facade that she was just going to look.

Just one this time, she kept repeating to herself as she walked through the doors and the entire time that she talked to the kennel attendant. She had to repeat the mantra even stronger as she browsed through kennels and rooms, at least three creatures she hadn’t seen before catching her eye. She had to pick one, though - get to know just one, and if that doesn’t work out then she would walk out without trying to adopt anyone for the first time. Gah, she hated putting herself through these limits but she knew that she had to draw the line somewhere. How many times now had she “just checked things out” and walked out with two or even three new companions? It was, admittedly, a lot to take on.
And then a little grey creature caught her eye, wolf-like in appearance. It had been a long, long time since she had last seen an original vulticus.
